Or that Negan should be the protagonist? Both of these opinions would have been nothing but fan service choices. Neither of them are enough to replace Rick, nobody is just like Reedus said.
Daryl is not that kind of character due to his nature and Norman Reedus specifically asked Angela Kang to not make Daryl the new Rick.
While making Negan the protagonist would have been even worst since we would had the "Nobody getting along with Negan" show. Not even his comic redemption arc is enough to provide him the place Rick had. It would have been nothing but a slap in the face for the actors who started the show and the ones who left during the Negan arc.
Kudos to Norman Reedus for keeping it low last summer while delivering one of his best episodes in years, while the media/internet and the trolls were all over him, that took great professionalism. Screw Collider for their fake ass news, especially the paycheck one. The man got 1 Million $ per episode and he deserved it after so many years on the show. The character is the best in his natural environment especially now that he got great writing, glad that Norman is happy about his work again.
They did good for not having much Negan in the first half considering how much his arc damaged the show. He will be a better shaped character in season 10.
The ensemble approach is working just fine,I just wish that Lauren Cohan will return as soon as possible, I really feel her absence.
Moral of the story....don't trust the internet, especially Collider. Thanks for reading.
