I spent 2 years trying to debunk Death Stranding, from analysis videos to looking for leaks in sketchy websites and here's all the data I've gathered.
For starters, let's talk about what Death Stranding IS NOT.
- It's not a "walking simulator" or what the casual fans have to say. You really think Sony would invest that much time and money on Kojima if he was just going to make a walking simulator? Plus, what is the gun at e3 2018 for?
- It's not MGS nor Silent Hills. There is such a thing as copyright and I'm not buying this whole Kojima and Konami are in cahoots.
Just because there are similiar shot compositions in Death Stranding and MGS doesn't necessarily mean Death Stranding is MGS0. Film directors do this all the time. I do believe there will be many similarities like the pace of the game and a few designs.
-Like in MGS3 where you had to go through an unknown jungle to survive, kill animals and eat them, treat yourself whenever you are wounded is probably an element in Death Stranding. Remember the e3 2018 trailer where Sam took his toenail out?
- A codec is present in the e3 2018 trailer with Sam and his colleagues, Del Toro and Tommie Earl Jenkins, Expect MGS2 and MGS3 heavy and interesting codec dialogue.
-Remember the skulls in MGSV? that sound they make when they find you and twitch? I found that sound again at the e3 2018 trailer.
-Cryptobites could probably stop the effects of timefall. Consuming them probably negates the effect of the timefall rain that protects your cells in a way.
About the story:
The first part of the story will be Sam delivering (I got this from Mark Cerny who said that they played the game and said that it starts to make sense within 5 hours into the game my guess is that it will start slow with Sam doing his deliveries then he has an encounter with one of the ludens, possibly the first scene where Lea Seydoux's character saves him from the chiral creature.) Then the second part is probably in the e3 trailer when Sam says he has an idea and uses the baby to see the creatures, with him escaping he returns to his team like the TGA 2017 trailer where he seems to know what to do when the creatures are around, then it'll probably make sense from there, Sam defeats all the ludens BUT there will be a grand reveal at the end, similiar to the MGS series we had to go through units then the reveals, but whether or not it'll be seen for what it is right after you beat the game or it would be some sort of the whole "global collaboration" ending I'm not so sure.
When Kojima said the game will have social media elements, one thing that popped in my mind was Archillect however I do not fully understand this.
One thing to also note are the similarities in the story of Death Stranding and Horizon Zero Dawn. Let me read the log line and compare.
-"Besieged by death's tide at every turn, Sam Bridges must brave a world utterly transformed by the Death Stranding. Carrying the stranded remnants of the future in his hands, Sam embarks on a journey to reunite the shattered world one step at a time. What is the mystery of the Death Stranding? What will Sam discover on the road ahead? A genre defining gameplay experience holds these answers and more."
-"The plot follows Aloy, a hunter in a world overrun by machines, who sets out to uncover her past."
In film school, you're taught that you make obstacles tailor-made for your character, and one thing I realized was when Norman Reedus said in a 2018 interview that Sam had a phobia of being touched and it's obviously no coincidence that the enemies in the game are chiral creatures, the invisible hands will the dark ink.. etc. In the 2018 trailer Sam says that "I can't see them, but I can SENSE 'em"
Speculations from Python and the rest say that Norman Reedus was "president" in the picture, but why would the president of the US work as a delivery man? I believe it is Lindsay Wagner's character who is the president seeing as she is standing in the middle of Norman and the unknown woman (who could be Emily O'Brien or Joosten), but how Lindsay Wagner's character does not age says a lot.
Information from the leak. While the leak got a lot wrong, it's still eye-opening with a few leaks he got right.
- said that Lindsay Wagner was in talks to join.
- Stefanie Joosten was in talks
in 2016 he said that Idris Elba would be in the game as Sam's boss, I believed this however in 2018 it was revealed that Tommie Earl Jenkins would have this role.
There were absurd statements like the 5 ludens being Mads, Ryan Reynolds, Gosling, Durand, and the unnamed MGS voice actor (this was Troy Baker). He got 2 right.
Again I could be wrong. Feel free to correct me and let's keep this peaceful please. Merry Christmas everyone!
