How old are the characters supposed to be?-UNR

https://ift.tt/eA8V8J

PLEASE NO SPOILERS;

So, due to quarantine, I’ve been rewatching TWD. I never made it past season 6 but I will this time.

I’m on season 4, episode 2 and this question has been creeping. Carol and Daryl obviously had a nice bromance/romance?? And then Beth and Daryl have a lil bromance/romance?? I’ve seen comics of Beth and Daryl after Beth dies of which I don’t know the story.

However, I know that Beth is 17, but the actress who portrays her is in her 30’s. I thought Norman Reedus was in his 40’s playing Daryl who was in his early 30’s.

Either way, I tried to google and there are no answers. It just keeps telling me how old the viewers are. Anyone with the comic book knowledge/more knowledge than I have know?

Thank you!

People who relocate from country to country often, how does it all work?-UNR

https://ift.tt/eA8V8J

I happened to be watching a clip with Norman Reedus and he mentioned how he bounced around a lot - born in Florida, dropped out of highschool, moved to Japan, then ended up in Spain, etc.

As someone in his mid-late twenties who has never had the opportunity to travel anywhere, I'd like to make up for lost time some day... But I have no idea how people travel like this.

Where do you get the money? How do you just move half way around the world? Where do you stay? Where do you work? Do you have any possessions during this time? How do travel/work visas function? What happens when you're done travelling?

I'd love to spend a brief while in one country before moving on to another, and repeating that several times before settling down somewhere (likely at home, here in Canada) at some point, it just seems like such an unobtainable lifestyle that I don't know the first thing about.

Everything You Need To Know About Death Stranding-UNR

https://ift.tt/eA8V8J

Death Stranding is an activity game created by Kojima Productions. It is the primary game from chief Hideo Kojima and Kojima Productions after their disbandment from Konami in 2015.

It was discharged by Sony Interactive Entertainment for the PlayStation 4 in November 2019 and is planned for discharge by 505 Games on Microsoft Windows in July 2020.

The game is set in the United States during the repercussions of the eponymous Death Stranding, which caused ruinous animals from a domain among life and demise to start wandering the Earth.

Players control Sam Porter Bridges (Norman Reedus), a dispatch entrusted with conveying supplies to the broke and disconnected provinces that remain and reconnecting them through a remote correspondences arrange.

Close by Reedus, the game highlights on-screen characters Mads Mikkelsen, Léa Seydoux, Margaret Qualley, Troy Baker, Tommie Earl Jenkins, and Lindsay Wagner, notwithstanding the resemblances of movie executives Guillermo del Toro and Nicolas Winding Refn as supporting characters.

Death Stranding was named for various honors, and got commonly ideal surveys, with pundits applauding its voice acting, soundtrack, and visuals, albeit many were energized by its ongoing interaction and story. In mid-2020, the game has attracted correlations with the coronavirus pandemic outbreak.

An Idea for Terminator 7-UNR

https://ift.tt/eA8V8J

although i loved every movie so far, most people don't know where the franchise is at right now. so i've got an idea on how to continue the franchise: MAKE A PREQUEL!

make a prequel to T1. get Edward Furlong into great shape to play General John Connor. if not him, Norman Reedus could play a great John. bring back Linda Hamilton as his second in command. if you have to, bring back Schwarzenegger - but as a scientist who is the model for the T-800, or even better: a hard as nails military general! give us the Skynet Future War set in 2029 we saw in flash-forwards in T1-T3 - no goddamn desert landscape we got in Salvation and Dark Fate! use plasma weaponry, not pistols and guns! give us the blue hue Cameron used in T1 and T2! make it ONE LAST MOVIE, not a trilogy - stop taking risks!

making it a prequel to T1 is more logical than making it a sequel to T2 - T2 is the last movie. they succeed in destroying Skynet and the world is safe. making it a prequel to T1 shows that they attempted to destroy Cyberdyne ONLY in T2. before T2 played out, Cyberdyne always succeeded in creating Skynet and Judgment Day happening in 1997 - T2 breaks this loop. use CGI SPARINGLY, like T1 and T2 did - make it 80% practical effects, 20% CGI! de-age Michael Biehn, Robert Patrick and Schwarzenegger in the movie's last scene where it'll show Kyle, T1's T-800, T2's T-800 and the T-1000 getting sent back! VERY SIMPLE - everyone just wants to see the Resistance destroying Skynet!

I feel like most actors except for (Andrew Lincoln, JDM or Danai) are under-appreciated for their brilliant performances. Ryan Hurst, Seth Gillam, Steven Yeun, Khary Payton, Avi Nash and Scott Wilson are amazing and seem underrated.

Especially Norman Reedus… as a guy who hasn’t taken any acting classes, he is scary good. Just look at 9x9, 10x10 and 9x5. He’s phenomenal.

And eventhough Chandler Riggs had a few bad performances, he also offered crazy good ones such as his scene when he thought Rick died in S4E09 and his death ep.

So glad I disregarded the reviews of this game-UNR

I'm only 13 hours in (In Episode 3 now) and I already love this game. When I watched reviews of this game, I admit I believed Death Stranding was just a "walking simulator". Then I actually played it. Man, oh man did they oversimplify it. Yeah, the first few hours do feel like Fedex: The Game, but when I reached Episode 3, the game was just... spectacular. Beating up MULEs with their own cargo, just driving around in a Reverse Trike with no destination, it was great. I also love the online portion. The community is so nice. Norman Reedus!!-UNR

https://ift.tt/eA8V8J

We can more than surely assume Reedus was gonna be silent hills' protagonist but how do you guys think he would do in the pure horror genre?? And assuming he´d be a "normal" Silent Hill protagonist what kind of personality would you want him to have? For example i personally really liked Heather's personality the most out of all the games, but i think all that confidence worked good on her because even tho we knew she wasnt afraid we still knew she was frail and just a teenager at the end of the day, so I don´t think the fearless type would fit Reedus with him being a buffed middle aged man and all... But what do you guys think?? Did your opinion on him being the main character of a silent hill game change after seeing him on Death Stranding??

(its my first post ever on reddit, made an acc just for this forum, hope this isnt a boring post)

I'm Back! And I'm 20 Hours In and So My Opinion is Now Valid!-UNR

https://ift.tt/eA8V8J

At least that's what some users here would like to believe. I get the feeling these are the same people who use the argument "you only played the first 5 hours and hated it! You gotta play at least 50 to get to the good parts!" and you know what, fuck that! Anyone can have an opinion on a game and can share it even if it goes as far as looking at the box art and think "Nope!" Everyone has one and everyone should share theirs if they so please, I mean that's what mediums are about! Our own perspectives coming together to create discussions and potentially broaden peoples horizons. And if you think 10+ hours or 20+ is a requirement to have an opinion than you are part of the reason why people don't like to share theirs.

But anyways, I played more of the game, gotten further, unlocked trucks and my opinion is mostly the same. I like the mechanics for traversing the land, although I admit vehicles really lowered my use of ladders and ropes which I am sad about. I liked looking at a river or mountain and thinking "I'm about to make you my bitch!" until I fall over and lose all my shit. Also not a huge fan of the online aspect of it but I feel like I'm in a bind in that regard. On the one hand it feels like other people are doing my work, such as building roads, placing ladders and ropes and I'm just leeching off of them. On the other, fucking roads would take forever to build if I was by myself. I just wish there was some kind of middle ground where I don't feel empty for not accomplishing building the roads on my own but also so I don't spend several hours on it.

As for the story I don't mind it but I think important dialogue bits should stay in the cutscenes. I'm sick of Diehard-man pfft calling me every time I leave for a story based delivery and telling shit he just explained! Quit reminding me to go to terminals to look for new work, I'M NORMAN FUCKING REEDUS, THE BEST PORTER IN THE FUCKING U.S.A. DAMMIT! And also characters explaining new equipment all the time when there's text that pops up that do the same anyways. Again, don't mind dialogue and the cutscenes but most of the time it's redundant.

But overall, I do like it. The word I would use is satisfying! I like making new discoveries, getting new gear, and new locations. There was one part where I needed to go back somewhere and it would take a long ass time even with a vehicle but then I saw a shorter route and the only thing between me and it was a mountain. Being the adventurous porter I was, I put on my Bridges hat and made my way up the mountain! I snuck past B.T.'s, fought off timefall snow and saw my destination! I climbed down, without any barrier or steep bullshit until I was there! It was, as I said, satisfying! I made my own path, one the game didn't tell me about and was rewarded with not only my destination but a self accomplished feeling.

..Although I'm sure there are some people who will say "You still haven't played enough of this 500000 hour game!"

P.S. Where in the tits do I find strands for my bola guns!? I found one from a bandit and been using only that for combat.

A small rant about videogames.-UNR

https://ift.tt/eA8V8J

I already know that a lot of you will call me boomer but, can we go back to old videogames?

Today's games are nothing but ballbusters with ''realistic'' and ''immersive'' gamplay and a ''deep'', ''emotional'' and ''compelling'' story.

Now don't get me wrong, i like ''immersive'' games, i spent 10+ hours on Metro Exodus, but if I had to choose between DOOM Eternal (or any other DOOM) or Metro Exodus, I'd always choose DOOM.

And it almost looks like today's videogames are either

  1. Indie 8 bit, 2d platformers or walking sims made by a small studio who wanted to make some quick bucks off the internet and who slap some ''deep'' bullshit plot about a social issue and shit like that.

2)AAA games who made just for those sweet 70 dollars at launch, and i'm not taking about Call Of Duty who's the same every year but also about those ''niche'' games like Death Stranding, if people would stop sucking Kojima's dick they would realize that just because your game has 10 fucking hours of cutscenes (two just for the ending cutscene) and big names like Mads Mikkelsen or Norman Reedus in it the game isn't automatically a good game, now it's gameplay is shit, you just walk around a map to deliver packages to people, the only cool thing about the game is the ''multiplayer'' even if it's a very big game breaker.

So as i said why can't we just go back those old videogames, and i'm not saying that all modern videogames are shit nor that old videogames are better ''cuz nostalgia'' but mostly because in my opinion gameplay is and should be more important than the story in a videogame.

Celebrities can't do anything without someone or something reporting on it.-UNR

https://ift.tt/eA8V8J

I just read a headline that read, "Diane Kreuger wears blue latex gloves while going out for ice cream with boyfriend Norman Reedus." my first thought was " How the fuck is this news?" She's doing something that hundreds of thousands of people are doing. It's not news, it's pointless information. Jeff Goldlum could eat a fucking apple and someone out there would think " Yeah. People need to know what Jeff Goldblum is eating right now." I'm fucking sick and tired of hearing the stupidest shit from these news sites and articles. How about you report something real, something worth my time to fucking read it. They don't try anymore. They just pump out the first thing they think will get peoples attention just because a big name celebrity is in the title. There are far more important things to worry about than whatever the fuck someone is wearing. So, to all those desk jockeys that write articles for big news sites, give us something that'll make us want to read the entire thing, something real, something worth our time.

Daryl is the worst thing to happen to The Walking Dead-UNR

https://ift.tt/eA8V8J

Ok, so Daryl is a great character and Norman Reedus does a great job playing him .... BUT ....

Daryl’s introduction into the show in the third episode of the first season set a precise time that the Showrunners’ could make changes from the comics.

The comics are great. A damn good story with a beginning, middle, and end ... and every negative with the show comes from them deviating and padding for content.

Daryl shouldn’t have been introduced, the show should have followed the comic better.

I only hope that now the comic is finished we can get a The Walking Dead: Brotherhood in a few years.

[REQUEST] [PS4] Death Stranding-UNR

https://ift.tt/eA8V8J

I realize that this is a hefty request, so I will try to make a hefty post.

Table of Contents

  • What is Death Stranding, and how much does it cost on the PS Store?
  • Why do I want Death Stranding?
  • Why can't you purchase it yourself?
  • Why should I give you this game, rather than the hundreds of other requesters who request WAY cheaper games than the one your requesting?
  • Tl;dr
  • Misc.
  • Profile and game

"No BTs, no voidouts... just a good old-fashioned boss fight" - Higgs

What is Death Stranding?

Death Stranding is an open world, action game, in which the player controls Sam Bridges (played by Norman Reedus), who essentially acts a delivery man in this post-apocalyptic landscape. The game also has online elements to it, but isn't the main point of the game. The game was developed by Hideo Kojima, who also created the Metal Gear Solid series.

Death Stranding is currently $30 in the Playstation Store (50% off it's original price of $60 due to the Spring Sale)

"If you're not scared of death, how can you value life?" - Sam Bridges

Why do I want Death Stranding?

I currently want Death Stranding because I love the open-world genre, and I love the idea of sci-fi and post-apocalyptic scenarios, with a dash of horror. I have Witcher 3, Red Dead Redemption 2, and Grand Theft Auto 5 (all open-world games) and enjoyed all of them, and watch shows like Black Mirror (which mainly focuses on technology and sci-fi, but Metalhead is set in a post-apocalyptic wasteland), read Stephen Hawking and Neil Degrasse Tyson books and also play DOOM (2016) and Resident Evil 2 (which is safe to assume I might like this game due to this). Another reason why I want Death Stranding is because of the gameplay in general. The graphics are top-notch (I'm surprised it runs on my measly PS4), and the controls seem a clunky, but its something I can get used to (I've played RDR2 lol). I've also browsed the r/DeathStranding subreddit, and what I've seen is that there is a lot more action and fun in the later chapters of the game. Which reminds me, Death Stranding is almost 40-50 hours long. I love games where it takes a while to complete because it tells me that it is worth the time and price. I mean, a movie is only a few hours long, and it doesn't have the interactivity of a game. I've also watched a few gameplay vids (just the first like 20-30 minutes) and it seems like a game I would enjoy, tbh. I've seen some negative reviews about it, mainly talking about the effect of realism (there is portions of the game where you have to balance your weight if your carrying too much stuff) and how its just a UPS simulator. IMO, I don't really see that. Yeah, in the first chapters it gets repetitive, but the later chapters is where the funs are (vehicles, weapons, etc.) Another reason I want Death Stranding is because it would be the first game by Hideo Kojima I've ever played (just a small reason). Another small reason I want this game is because my favorite VA is in this game (Troy Baker) who voiced Joel in The Last of Us and the sequel (R.I.P.), and the fact that it [Death Stranding] recieved generally positive reviews (which is generally a good basis of whats good or not, but of course, everyone has their own opinion)

"A strand is a part of a rope or bond, while stranded means being washed up on the sore, and being stranded is when you can't go home." - Amelie

Why can't you purchase this game yourself?

I cannot purchase this game myself because ...

  1. I'm 13 and have no job/can't get a job

  2. My mom is a nurse, so she isn't home a lot, and my dad is focusing on essentials right now.

Those seem pretty self-explanatory, but if not, I can provide some context. I'm too young for an actual job, and labor (such as lawn mowing and babysitting) seem to be out of the question nowadays. Plus, the neighbor's kid is always the first one to ask (Darn you!!!)

With COVID-19, my mom has had to work even more. So I can't ask her for the money to buy this game. My dad is worried about us getting the disease because both my mom and dad have pre-existing health conditions, so they have a high-probabilty of, ya know. Kicking the bucket. Not really a sob story, mainly a matter of "I can't get it right now!".

"Nothing like the eve of extinction to bring focus to the mind. Makes folks honest." - Higgs

Why should I give you this game, rather than the hundreds of other requesters who request WAY cheaper games than the one your requesting?

I mean, there is no reason not to :D

Just kidding, it doesn't matter if you don't want to give me this game. I can understand that. It just would a fun way to pass the time (my school has been shut down for weeks). I've only been playing Fortnite and replaying The Witcher 3, while also simultaneously playing The Divison 2. It's just getting boring playing the same games. I've already completed DOOM, which is the most recent game I got, which I got from my brother's account on the same PS4.

"Great, so I'm Mario and you're Princess Peach." - Sam Bridges

Tl;dr

I like the game but its expensive, and I cannot get it as I am 13 with no occupation, and my parents cant get it either. Its getting kinda boring playing the same games over and over, at the same time like a routine.

This game sucks and Kojima should be ashamed.-UNR

https://ift.tt/eA8V8J

Imagine this: it's 2014 and PT just dropped. Everybody is hyped and ready to see what Kojima can do with Silent Hill. Months later, you find out that PT gets cancelled. That sucks and everyone is sad. But Kojima says he has something else in store! A couple years later, the reveal trailer for Death Stranding comes out and it looks like it could be a very cool and surreal horror game. Awesome! Kojima's got our back!

But then all goes quiet... A couple more years pass and we finally get a release date out of the blue when most people thought it might've faded into obscurity. But when it came back, so did the hype. The devs were all hush hush about what the actual game entailed. All we knew was 3 things. Norman Reedus, Weird Baby Thing, and magic rain that ages shit.

But when the game finally came out, and all the hype came to a peak, we all finally got a taste of what Death Stranding had in store.

And it was SHIT! The only thing you do in the game is walk for 3 hours, deliver shit, encounter invisible monsters, walk for another 3 hours, watch a cutscene that does nothing with the story, and rinse and repeat. Sure, the game is one of the most beautiful I have ever seen, but graphics alone don't make a good game. I don't care if the game makes the Mona Lisa look like a pile of dicks, I will never play a game that isn't fun.

Kojima knows he fucked up, because in an interview (I forget which one) he said that people were "too dense" to understand his "art."

I can't believe how many people still defend this game. It is an embarrassment to gaming as a whole! Think about the greatest games ever made. The games where everybody can agree that it's a masterpiece. What do all those games have in common? Story? No, some don't even have a story. Graphics and sound? Nope, some don't even look or sound good. Gameplay? Fuck yeah! Every one of those games is a blast to play over and over again to the point of insanity! But does Death Stranding have good gameplay? Hell fucking no!

I feel personally betrayed by Kojima. He could have given us a game that at least lived up to the hype. But he couldn't even do that!

Fuck Kojima and fuck anyone who defends this game.

Played For the First Time Today and Here Are My Thoughts.-UNR

https://ift.tt/eA8V8J

Hi, random reddit user here. I bought the game today and played for around 2 hours and wanted to share my overall thoughts on my very limited experience. I think I'll go into my journey overall in that time as it helps paint my mindset a little better.

First off let me just say that I have steered away from most discussions and gameplay of the game aside from reviews and its been mixed to say the least, I know that much. I know the bigger complaint of the game is the tediousness of walking around and with the walking mechanic the way it is I was actually buying it based on that. Call me weird but I like those level of details in games, like Red Dead 2 and Kingdom Come Deliverance where these games take their time to portray actions in a realistic way.

Secondly, I said I played for two hours but really I played for one hour since most of my time was listening and, while I don't really hate cutscenes in video games, this one really started to get under my skin. Didn't help that most of the time I didn't know what the hell anyone was talking about. They were speaking English but I felt like I walked into a random episode of Game of Thrones but in German.

Oh they try to explain these things in a bit of clumsy writing but they try. Still confused overall but hey, I just need to pay attention more... and make notes. Can't help but laugh everytime Diehardman comes on screen and says in a 100% serious tone "This is Diehardman"

Right, onto the gameplay. So, yeah, it's mostly walking right now and its not fast walking unless you sprint of course. You're slow as you stumble along the world and it's not made easier by the terrain and while this is the biggest complaint of the game, this is where I found the most enjoyment. That and looking at Norman Reedus's crotch and getting hit in the face but that's because I have previous experience in that area.

It would honestly be boring if you were just walking around but a lot of thought went into the walking in this game so it's not just holding the control stick forward but an actual mechanic. You take into account the weight of your deliveries, the terrain and adjust technique based on those. You can change the location of items to shift your weight where I had the most fun. Reminded me a little of Resident Evil 4 when you had to sort items in your case so it made sense. Guns on the left, Grenades on the right and herbs on the bottom. You pick up and flip and turn items to get them to fit better until you grab an egg that only takes up one space that throws everything off! It's that level is what I'm saying.

So yeah, start off picking up fallen packages from your bike and talk to spikey lady then continue on. Next take your dead mother up a mountain because no one in this world has any sense of compassion it seems. Imagine if your wife died and someone said "listen, i got a bad hangover. Can you drive the Hurst to the crematory?" So you do that and the world finally opens up for seemingly the first time. First task is to connect the establishments together and on my way to do so I found plenty of lost cargo along the way.

Now, I'm not a very sentimental guy but seeing all these poor packages dropped by these struggling players lit a spark in me. These players are trying their hardest out here in this unforgiving world to do the same job as me right now and dammit, they deserve to have their cargo delivered! I picked them up, one after another! As the pile grew high so did my resolution as each one represented the needs of others being carried on my limited back! I placed ladders, climbed down rocky mountains placing ropes, climbed up the steep hill to the disconnected settlement and realized I went to the wrong place...

Yeah, gotta deliver them to the right one which is the one I came from... the one with the rivers, steep hills, rocky mountain between me and there...

FUCK IT! I MADE IT THIS FAR DAMMIT AND I WASN'T ABOUT TO QUIT NOW! With more ladders on my back, and a little less weight I made my way back! I thought I would lose everything each time but I continued on. Each cargo I passed that I had to leave behind broke my heart. I'm sorry other player! Your hero is in another game. ;-;

But that just added more determination. I can't fail now. I can't imagine how those other players felt knowing they had to leave those behind. Someone trusted them with their delivery but it was too much! But I'll make these deliveries for sure. The journey was long and bumpy but I finally made it! I made my way to the terminal to turn everything in and realized I had no clue how to personally turn stuff in, only entrust it to another player... NO MATTER!

I made it, dammit. I made it. I shut the game down and thought back on everything and felt a sense of accomplishment after.

The game feels more impactfull today with the events going on in the world, not gonna lie. With a nation being divided because of a very serious deadly pandemic and people wanting hope and losing it continuing on as best they can to try and survive. But this game practices social distancing with brotherhood. I don't know who you are Devils-Ping-Pong or bunnygirl_786 but your work was not in vain. I'm sorry you lost your stuff but know that someone picked it up for you and made the delivery. I know it can't wash away the negative feelings you must've felt when it happened but they were a reminder to someone that every rock, river, bad weather was a small inconvenience to someone determined to see your work done. We may never meet but I felt your pain and struggle and we all have that sometimes. No matter what our religion may be, our beliefs we are all apart of this world. Our struggles don't have to be all our own as there is always a back with a pack to share the load with. Hang in there my friends, we go this for you. <3

So yeah, that was my thoughts on Death Stranding. It's amazing how alone you can feel in the game but be reminded that you're not alone. I get where the negatived criticisms come from for sure but I found this game entirely special. But what do I know, I'm only two hours in. :)

Some ideas to bounce around-UNR

https://ift.tt/eA8V8J

Been doing some research and thinking on MM while working on my paper, and of course, I can't get it off my mind. Some ideas I wanted to bounce and maybe see what you thought. Would you consider these artifacts MM?

  1. Death Stranding? (2019 PS4)
    1. A literal "Inbetween" world, where in most cases it looks dark and hopeless, but our characters and world are pressing on. They are working toward rebuilding civilization while understanding things may never get back to where they are. The game also incorporates many quirky and comedic elements in a pretty bleak. There also an environment without being satirical. Along with these elements, the game is very self-aware of Norman Reedus, as seen in the bathroom messages.
  2. Wheel of Time and Dark Tower series?
    1. Both series revolve around a mythos of rebirth and redoing the journey. Granted I haven't finished the Dark Tower or WoT, but many of the elements seem very in the same vein. Wheel of Time and it's characters especially, with there being a literal dialogue between old and new(for those that know some of Rand's character arcs)

Would love to hear your thoughts. As Akker and Vermulem described MM as being an invitation for debate and discourse I really would love some interaction.
