What hidden gameplay mechanics and details did you find?-UNR

https://ift.tt/RSQMoeC

The game does explain most of the game mechanics in the game, but a lot of them are left unexplained, and are usually found by players who share it between themselves. I wanna make a list of these, so if you have any you found, be sure to add them.

Some of the ones that are already on the list are (keep in mind that some of these could already be explained in the game, and/or they are very easy to guess already):

  • Did you know that you can use your strand to tie down your cargo on cargo carriers? Did you also know that this is also possible for the Reverse Trike: Transporter? Both prevent cargo from falling out from their carriers when you crash, which is really useful when you don't want your cargo to fall through the map, 260 metres down into the void below. It's happened to me more than three times.
  • Did you know that you can use regular bullets against BTs by first throwing a hematic grenade at them, and then shooting at the BT through the red smoke that is made?
  • Did you know about the hidden variants of the shotguns, rifles and handgun that are unlocked when you do a specific set of missions? These variants have the ability to use chiral crystals instead of your blood, which then are more effective against BTs.
  • Did you know that there exists a hidden variant of the Reverse Trike hidden in one of the memory chips, where Sam will fucking constantly without fucking stop talk about Ride with Norman Reedus, with the added small bonuses of extra battery life as well as cargo options on the trike?
  • Did you know that you can incapacitate any human enemy instantly with the Bola Gun? If you aim the gun at any human enemy's head and fire, the enemy will be instantly incapacitated.
  • Did you know that, during the secret boss fight in the child's playroom, you can throw toy cargo at the boss to distract them momentarily? The boss will focus on the cargo instead, and play with it, allowing you to dish out some easy damage.
  • Did you know that there exists a hidden variation of the EX-grenade? Under special circumstances, Sam will literally get an UTI, and produce EX-grenades with bloody urine?
  • Did you know that the EX-grenades actually have unique functions depending on the variations? If you're like me, who never used it, you'd be surprised to discover that it doesn't actually hurt the BTs, but actually can lead them both to and from the spot of impact while sneaking around in BT territory? Some of these can also mark BTs, so that you can see them while not concentrating on them.
  • Did you know that you can hide from BTs if they know you are around? After triggering a BT (signified by the BT turning into things that shoot up from the ground), you can crouch and hold your breath while waiting for it to pass you. You can see it has passed you when the spikes that shoot up from the ground (as well as the large fingerprints they leave behind) has, well, walked past you. However, for this to work, you would have to trigger them stealthy, not like our next example.
  • Did you know that you can eliminate BTs without cutting their cord? If you have a gun that shoots hematic rounds, you can attempt to riddle the BT full with them, which would kill most BTs before they have the chance to get to you?
  • Did you know that this is literally what the Anti-BT Handgun was made for? While it is ineffective against most BT boss battles compared to other weapons, it was actually made so you could kill BTs while sneaking around in BT territory, where a full charge would be enough to kill most BTs in one shot.
  • You probably knew that there are different sizes for BTs, but did you also know that there are baby BTs? While these are small, they are also very easily disposed off.
  • Did you know that, while using Vog-Emitting Decoy Cargo would incapacitate/knock out human enemies, having leaking vog cargo would kill them?
  • Did you know that, in addition to the crater lake and cremation centre, you can also dispose off cargo at the tar lake?

Why im so depressed about the Silent Hill Reboot...-UNR

https://ift.tt/RSQMoeC

So this post might be a little weird lol, but please stay with me here. So I'm a huge fan of SH. Loved the movie and iv played almost all the games given a few. I was OBSESSED with how dark and crazy they were. I ALWAYS argued with friends that silent hill was better then Resident Evil.

So, anyway get this. My favorite SH game of all time was Orgins for the PsP. And while I played that, I didnt have cable or internet growing up, so I had ALOT of movies I'd watch over and over again. I'd love watching this movie with Norman Reedus called "The Messengers 2:Scarecrow" and id always think while playing S.H.O while I watched it in the background " you know? They should put this guy in a silent hill game".

Then they finally did it.

I was so fucking hyped seeing Norman Reedus, my favorite actor on a SH game because he looked EXACTLY like how I imagined. He reminded me of the guy from orgins so much I always thought it would be a dream come true, then Konami crushed it. I cried twice over this game. When it was announced NR would be the main character, and then when it got canceled. I legit did not eat or sleep for two weeks over that shit I was so depressed my dream game got canned.

Now looking at it, do you think Kojima watched this movie and thought the same thing? I'm still ill about it. I actually don't think I'll get over it tbh.

An amazing piece of recontextualization (The Beach at the end of the game)-UNR

https://ift.tt/2BIZLhw

Early on in the game, we get the infamous cutscene from the first trailer, which spawned the Norman Reedus and the Funky Fetus meme. Memetic as it may be, the visuals were rather striking. After cradling the baby for a while, Norman stands up, and goes to the shore against the crashing waves and dead whales. Over yonder in the distance, five figures are floating in the air. Very ominous indeed.

As you go through the game, you see the very large, titan-like BT's, and the assumption is that those figures in the distance are these five, each representing the five big Extinction Events that happened in the world so far.

And then you get to the end of the game. You are stranded in a beach. No whales this time, but the five figures also eventually show up ominously in the distance again. Amelie points to them and tells you that you are "still connected". You hear voices as you get nearer to the shore. The people desperately looking for you from the other side.

It was then that I realized that those five weren't BT's. They represent some of the most important connections you have made in the entire game: Deadman, Die-Hardman, Heartman, Mama/Lockne, and Fragile. My jaw dropped at this realization. God I really love how for as convoluted and high-concept the story was sometimes, it was wrapped up really neatly.

[spoilers] Space Marine 2 wishful thinking-UNR

https://ift.tt/VJxh95N

And that wishful thinking I have, is that Henry Cavil would portray Roboute Guilliman. Surprised?

Since the original trailer dropped we all collectively have had the same idea. Bobby G is awake and somewhere in the galaxy during the plot of the game and it's GW's big opportunity to have the only known living loyalist Primarch appear "on screen".

It would truly be a wasted opportunity if Rowboat Guillisuit did not appear. Especially since Titus has crossed the Rubicon to become Primaris which the Primarch decreed necessary for First-Born. Thematically, it's a story telling must.

I was re-watching the dev update trailer and had an idea. The MO-cap part got me thinking... Not only is this Bobert's time to appear, but a Hollywood or more mainstream celebrity could play him. No offense to the Chap playing Titus this time. He'll be great.

Its becoming a common practice these days to bring in some star-power to promote the game as you would a tv show or movie. Cyberpunk with Keanu Reeves and Death Stranding with Norman Reedus and Mads Mikkelsen. I'm sure there are more I'm not thinking of. Hell, Mark Strong played Titus in the first game.

Cavil is a logical choice for the role in my opinion. They would be hard pressed to find another A-list celeb as familiar with or as passionate about the lore of 40k as he. A strike against might be he might be picky about who he plays for the first time.

First Time Horror Review #10: Pandorum (2009); 80/100 Rating-UNR

https://ift.tt/7cFqADN

Great action-horror here. Plot and worldbuilding are good with good acting. It doesn't fully explain anything, and does use the very boring sci-fi cliché of, 'too many humans, no more food', but there does seem to be hope by the end, so I won't hold that against it. Seems like a blend of Alien (1979) and Event Horizon (1997), just not nearly as good or scary as either (though it is about as gorey and creepy as Alien (1979)). And some pretty good characterisation and diction. I did enjoy the plot twists they had going on, too. Though it had all been done before by 2009, this one was a solid creation. Of course, it had a fairly big budget, so it shouldn't have had any problems, anyway. I'm also a fan of both Norman Reedus, Ben Foster, and Dennis Quaid.

29M Canada - looking for friends on discord with similar interests-UNR

https://ift.tt/7cFqADN

Heya, I’m a pretty mellow Canadian guy just looking for more people to talk to who might share some of the same hobbies or interests as me. I like to think I'm fairly easy to get along with if we vibe. My main interests are:

Reading: Probably my first real love. I'm a huge fan of fantasy/sci fi and some horror but I will read whatever. I've been dabbling in Haruki Murakami lately and I just bought the new book written by Norman Reedus.

Gaming: I like games with strong narratives so I really love RPGs. I also mess with some shooters and fighting games. I've been meaning to finally get around to playing Disco Elysium.

Working out: I really like going for runs and lifting weights. I've been doing both for a couple years now off and on and it has had a really good impact on my life.

Anime/Manga: I don't really watch or read that much these days but if something catches my eye I'm usually way into it. Some of my favourites are things like Monster, Berserk, Chi no Wadachi, Oyasumi Punpun, Chainsaw Man, Odd Taxi, Urusei Yatsura, and Maison Ikkoku.

I've also been trying to teach myself both guitar and Japanese which is an exercise in discipline but I think I'm making some progress.

If anything in my spiel caught your attention feel free to message me.

Death Stranding - Recommending-UNR

https://ift.tt/U8nbOGK

I recently played Death Stranding just before the new Ps Plus came out, and i saw it was included with Premium, i just wanted to recommend it

As i had heard all the criticism back when it came out, about it basically being a walking simulator or an amazon parcel delivery simulator. Let me be real, you definitely could say that based on the quests, but i managed roughly 100 hours, and never got bored once completing and platinuming the game.

In terms of an open world game, it is one of the best i have played and Hideo Kojima, being the mastermind that he is, manages to put in some rather unique aspects which differentiate Death Stranding from other open world games.

Firstly the traversing the world, in other games you don't even pay a thought to the landscape right, in this game it is critical, as you are delivering packages to preppers and facilities, and have to keep them in good condition, and the landscape challenges the hell out of you to do this, literally you have to watch every step you take as it could throw you off balance.

The story, i won't lie, for the first 2-3 chapters you will be like wtf is going on here, but it soon becomes clearer to understand, so stick with it and you will definitely be rewarded with a fantastic storyline, with some brilliant actors, seriously, you had Mads Mikkelsen, Norman Reedus, Lea Seadoux, Margaret Quailley, Guillermo Del Toro, Tommie Earl Jenkins and Troy Baker. Hands down it is the best cast i have ever seen for a video game.

The BB mechanic. Lord, Kojima is a genius for this, it felt weird as hell at the start as you don't understand what it is or why it came to be, but it builds the world so much more and gives you an emotional attachment. It is essentially a baby in a pod, but they can sense the monsters of the world, so the porters need to use them, but there is so much interaction whilst walking this lonely world and being able to look down in 1st person and see this little laughing baby that it warms your heart, then there is so many wholesome things in the world that the BB loves, and will have you grinning from ear to ear.

The multiplayer mechanic, that might be a bit misleading, there is no multiplayer, but so much of the world revolves around players helping each other, essentially in your single player game, you can use objects e.g. ladders or climbing anchors etc to traverse the world, and those objects you leave are visible to others in their singleplayer game, you know if someone has used your items because they leave likes on the items you left that helped them traverse the landscape.

And you can do the same for them when you come across a mountainous area and see someone has left a climbing anchor for you to make it easy to climb, you leave them a few likes. Also you can build roads via players contributing materials to 3D printers in their own games and when the road is built it is built in yours and their games. So everyone works together to make the world easier to navigate for everyone else, it is such a unusual and wholesome thing to have someone else leave these items purely for others benefit and gets you more connected with the game.

The soundtrack, i have NEVER played a game that managed to incorporate a soundtrack into its open world the way Death Stranding did, from the very first moments you play the game and the first song plays while the camera zooms back letting you see this world was incredible.

I could talk about it all day, but all i'll say is, unlike other games where you just do quests for the sake of it, this game gives you a reason to care about the quests and the people involved, and makes you actually excited to do fetch and deliver quests.

I cannot recommend it enough, give it a chance and you will love it.

[REQUEST] [STEAM] [3RD ATTEMPT] Death Stranding $39.99-UNR

https://ift.tt/Df5FyPl

What is Death Stranding:

What is Death Stranding: Death Stranding is an action game developed by Kojima Productions. It is the first game from director Hideo Kojima and Kojima Productions after their split from Konami in 2015. It was published by Sony Interactive Entertainment for the PlayStation 4 in November 2019 and by 505 Games for Windows in July 2020. A director's cut version was released for the PlayStation 5 in September 2021, followed by a release for Windows in March 2022.

The game is set in the United States following a cataclysmic event which caused destructive creatures to begin roaming the Earth. Players control Sam Porter Bridges (Norman Reedus), a courier tasked with delivering supplies to isolated colonies and reconnecting them via a wireless communications network. Alongside Reedus, the game features actors Mads Mikkelsen, LĂ©a Seydoux, Margaret Qualley, Troy Baker, Tommie Earl Jenkins, and Lindsay Wagner, in addition to the likenesses of film directors Guillermo del Toro and Nicolas Winding Refn as supporting characters.

Why I want this Game

I have been wanting this game for a long time. Im 15 and I recently got a new gaming pc. As of making this post i am $850 in debt. im paying off the computer and all the other items with it monthly. That means I have no spending money.

A classic survival horror Masterpiece-UNR

https://ift.tt/8U2ZxrA

Underrated and influential industry defining survival horror masterpiece classic spotlight "Nocturne"

It's the 1920s, you play as Joshua Stranger a strange and mysterious individual who doesn't quite know of his past, not remembering the memories they once contained. He has a penchant at survival skills, all of the resources of a great detective, and one of the best agents in the organization. He has a true hatred for supernatural monsters but respects those he has to work with based on their skills and techniques not their appearance or birth right.

He is a member of the organization known as "The Spookhouse" who have investigated the darkened events of Rustin Parr behind The Blair Witch, but they also investigate Cosmic otherworldly gods, lovecraftian cults, vampires, werewolves and anything that goes bump in the night. The organization was established by Teddy Rosenvelt who fought off a pack of werewolves during the Civil War during his career.

The game has five chapters that travels you from the swamps of the south, to gothic European castles filled with shadowed creatures of darkness, Frankenstein like monsters reanimated by the mob, lovecraftian gods that want to bring about the end of the world, Baron Samedi assisting you with the curse of a village of the dead, to a mysterious individual who slaughters through the organization headquarters to leave the Stranger a mysterious hint that he knows his true past.

The game is a fixed camera, third person survival horror narrative. The atmosphere is so thick, dense, creepy, and hauntingly unnerving never knowing what is about to come at you or torment you from the dark backgrounds of the environment. It uses a unique mechanic where you had laser sights on the pistols which would allow you to free aim and target limbs on their bodies to get better damage and accuracy.

The reason this forgotten underrated masterpiece in the survival horror genre defined the industry is due to the unique elements that stood it apart from every other experience in the genre. The developers at the talented "Terminal Reality" had programmed actual visible breath to be shown from the characters mouths as their bodies moved due to the air they had in the atmosphere. Wind would push leaves, trees, as well as your tail of the trenchcoat/capes around in the direction of the breeze flowing around you. The light effects would shine eerily from different perspectives, such as a Werewolf infested forest had the moonlights bright beam shining down through the branches, or you had an old movie projectors light shining around from the screen that illuminated the enemies and kept the others in the darkness until they got closer.

The games theme song was very influential in the genre of horror/survival horror and other mediums for the next few decades. The song was used for the hit TV series "Fear Factor" for that theme song, many old and modern commercials and some notable themes in video games.

The franchise is connected to "Bloodrayne 1&2" with some characters from Nocturne appearing in the plot and story of Bloodrayne but loosely tied in to make the Bloodrayne franchise stand out on its own.

Lynn Mathis did the excellent confident, professional, mature, wise/aged, vulnerable stoic protagonist Joshua Stranger so well, and was iconic for the role but sadly passed away.

With Terminal Reality somewhat dead in the waters after the release of Ghostbusters the video game(all of the main actors doing their likeness/voice) and the Walking Dead game with Norman Reedus it seems that Nocturnes fate and Joshua Stranger is left in Limbo until someone like THQ Nordic or another studio buys the rights.

Back after the success of The Mummy, The Mummy Returns, Deep Rising, before Van Helsing. Stephan Sommers was in the talks and negotiation stage for a live action movie with Joshua Stranger and the events of Nocturne but sadly negotiations fell through and it never happened but he would have treated the IP title with the pulpy, gothic action horror it deserved.

It was a single player, PC only experience that is 100% worth playing if you can find it and run it up. The voice work, atmosphere, scares, puzzles, and horror is something that still holds up extremely well and plays even better. It's so damn unique!

The trailers for the game are 100% nightmare fuel and adds so much passion for the universe of horror

One trailer has an insane asylum patient(played by Joshua Strangers voice actor) discussing the nightmares that he survived and how much the agents of the Spookhouse fight to make the world a lot better.

Another trailer has constables walking through the darkened foggy woods with lanterns noticing a dead body,

A final trailer happened with Teddy Rosenvelt discussing how he fought against a monstrous beast in the civil war, and how much it impacted his life.

Here is the link for a full free PC game download no viruses, which houses even more classic titles for you to check out if interested. :)

Some questions about what is allowed, and what isn't with DALL E.-UNR

https://ift.tt/AXCD4qG

So I just got an invitation to use DALL E, but before I try anything I'd like to get some further details about what is allowed and what isn't.

I obviously understand that real-life people, including celebrities, politicians etc. etc. aren't allowed. And though I'd only use this for pure harmless entertaining reasons, I can understand and respect why that is the case, because the internet is full of people that would abuse systems like this. But just to make sure I don't break any rules I'd like to have some further details on this subject matter.

  1. If a real person, then what about fictional characters depicted by actors? For example, if Mark Hamill isn't allowed, does that mean I am not allowed to generate imagery of Luke Skywalker based on the movies with Mark Hamill, or to name someone else Johnny Depp's Jack Sparrow or Edward Scissorhands.
  2. What about roles in which the actor are wearing more heavy make-up or masks? If I am not allowed to generate art using Jack Nicholson or Heath Ledger, does this also mean that I am not allowed to generate anything based on their versions of the Joker?
  3. What about cartoon versions of real people? Real-life celebrities made cameo appearances in shows like The Simpsons or Family Guy. Is it forbidden to create anything based on those versions as well?
  4. What about video game characters depicted by actors? If "Norman Reedus" or "Cameron Monaghan" aren't allowed, does this also mean that "Sam" from "Death Stranding" or "Cal Cestis" from "Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order" isn't allowed either?
  5. What about completely fictional characters from movies, series, cartoons, comics, anime, manga, games etc. etc? Am I allowed to generate art using characters like Darth Vader, Homer Simpson, Spongebob Squarepants, Son Goku or Super Mario? Or would that cause any issues with copyright?
  6. What about people that passed away a long time ago, so long ago that the only imagery of them are paintings or perhaps very early photos? For example historical figures such as Leonardo Da Vinci, Ludwig Van Beethoven or Benjamin Franklin.
  7. And finally, I'd also like to know if these content policies mainly apply to content getting shared online, or if they also equally apply to personal usage.

Which cast member of the Walking Dead would survive the longest in a real life zombie apocalypse?-UNR

https://ift.tt/5puUVW0

Based on their personality and all real life feats they may have, how would all the various cast members from the Walking Dead TV show last in a zombie apocalypse?

From Andrew Lincoln to Norman Reedus, Danai Gurira, Jeffery Dean Morgan, etc.

They are going about their normal business when the outbreak happens. The zombie virus is similar to the one from the Walking Dead where anyone who dies will turn unless their brain is destroyed.

They must do whatever they can to survive. If they have families, they must also protect them. They can use whatever knowledge they gained from the show to help them do it for real.

Who will last the longest?
