This was inspired by a post of Jeremy Allen White I saw on this sub. Someone in the comments described him as "ugly hot".
Here is Urban Dictionary's definition of ugly hot. On the internet (Reddit/TikTok/Tumblr) this is a term I've seen thrown around by women to describe the following actors: Adam Driver, Cameron Monaghan, Miles Teller, Pete Davidson, Norman Reedus, Jesse Eisenberg, Dane Dehaan, Benedict Cumberbatch, Andy Samberg.
It's quite an interesting phenomenon that actors who tend to be a a bit goofy looking like Adam Driver and Benedict Cumberbatch amass huge female fan bases, the likes of which conventionally attractive actors like Chris Hemsworth and Zac Efron don't have.
I'm not sure if it's just me but I haven't seen the same energy be given to female celebrities. I am not sure that a woman in her 20's or 30's who is maybe slightly goofy looking could achieve fame and a devoted fan base in the way that men are able to.
