TWDDD Theory-UNR

https://ift.tt/qBMQJOu

Basically we all know that Rick has a brother in Spain in the comics but not in the show but Daryl isn’t in the comics and in the show is basically ricks brother now we know that the next season of Daryl Dixon is in France and he is with carol so what if carol and Daryl meet up in Spain like Jeff grimes does and they attempt to get back but Daryl dies like how Jeff dies?? I’ve been thinking this for a while and would make a good link between the show and comics and would be a cool but sad place to leave Norman reedus’s character although I do want a reunion

Things hopefully they can bring to the next game-UNR

https://ift.tt/wLXtbWS

This is just my honest opinion and nothing more but it's something I'm hoping they can bring to the game that we can have without the need for mods and a couple of ideas that might make the game a bit more awesome that people will want to return to it later down the road.

Customization: As far as this goes, I feel that CDPR needs to take a big look at Nexus mod makers and add features that we could not see in the first game without mods.

Maybe more voice options than the two we've had. It's probably a big stretch, but I would love to see more voice options so that way we can come back and play multiple times, making us feel like different characters each time

Different color Cyberarms or one cyberarm.

More body, facial, hair, etc. options

More loot options (possibly with Blackwall abilities if we have missions like such).

More vehicles or vehicle customization.

Maybe some better outfits (Been really wanting something similar to Lucy's outfit)

Cyberware: I would love to see new styles of gameplay, honestly. Like how we have the Sandevistan for slowing time around you and, of course, cyberdecks. We could probably have something like a hardening armor ability (something similar to Halo Reach Armorlock).

Romance Options: I feel that romance options should be a bit more... diverse than what it was in the first game. At least make it so that we can go with whomever we wish as whichever gender we choose.

Weapons: Weapons honestly felt just right to me. Didn't really have an issue with what they did in the last updates. Wouldn't hurt to have more modding options to iconic weapons, I guess.

Other Possible Celebrity/Cameo Celebrity options: This is just my opinion if Keanu Reeves or Idris Elba decide not to return for a second game.

Male Actor Options:

Vin Diesel

Keith David

Norman Reedus

Jeffrey Dean Morgan

Denzel Washington

Christian Bale

Liam Neeson

Samuel L. Jackson

Nolan North

John DiMaggio

Female Actresses:

Jennifer Lawrence

Scarlet Johansson

Brenda Song

Rosario Dawson

What's your opinion on real actors in games?-UNR

https://ift.tt/TWaJnyr

Increasingly often you see real actors as computer game characters. They're not only side characters or companions like Keanu Reeves in Cyberpunk, but sometimes even the protagonist or an entire cast like Norman Reedus, Mads Mikkels and many more in Death Stranding or Cameron Monaghan in the newer Star Wars games.

How do you feel about this topic?

My opinion might be unpopular, but I don't really like it. I always prefer fictional characters over the looks of actors I see all the time in different roles. And I can't really explain why, but it somehow kills my immersion, even though the mentioned games are still great, of course.

So as i've been waiting for Silent Hill 2 to get it's re-release i've been deep diving video essays on all things SH. Of course this reignited my love for PT and the world that surrounds it. Coincidentally my girlfriend has been watching The Walking Dead again, and i think it's around season 2 or 3 that they're in the prison. I kept hearing what sounded like the iconic swinging lamp sound being used for the opening/closing of the prison doors. Of course this could just be a sample from some metal sound pack, but i thought it was kinda strange considering protagonist is Norman Reedus. Could all be a strange coincidence lol

Death Stranding should have been more like Metal Gear Solid 1 and less like Metal Gear Solid V.-UNR

https://ift.tt/tUgsMCE

In case the title didn't give it away, I am a Solid Kojima fan. Got introduced to the series by MGS4 in my shinning new PS4 wanting an action war game. Grave mistake. But it served to introduced me to that world and still I can say MGS1 is my favourite videogame of all time, or at least it's up there. And of course when first saw the first Death Stranding trailer I was confused yet intrigued for Kojima's new adventure. And like many of you here, I never had a PS4 and it hasn't been until I've acquired a state-of-the-art PC able to run it and the results... well, let's say they're mixed.

While I tried to shy away as hard as I could from spoilers, it was impossible to run away from overall critiques and the divisive feeling the game had on the internet. Sometimes I feel like discourse surrounding gaming has become polarised by nature: a game either is good or bad. It's difficult to articulate why something is in the middle, or disappointing, or misleading. And then we have Death Stranding, like Disco Elysium, a "game" that works better as a form of art than a game.

Ok, for the two of you who hasn't seen anything about the game more than a few trailers, Death Stranding is action-adventure, with elements of stealth, third-person-shooter, survival horror, open world... even racing. However at end of the day this game is a glorified walking simulator. It's Firewatch but stretched from 4 hours to 40 hours.

I'm not going to talk about the story because, first: spoilers; and second: this is easily the most subjective part of the whole package. It's Kojima at its Kojima-est: the character and place names spell their significance and theme, the symbology couldn't be more on the nose and the rule of "show don't tell" its non-existent, not to say that there are parts that have been made unnecessarily complex to inflate his ego. But I liked it. I've always been the quiet lonely kid, with weak but persistent streaks of depression and since the trailers Sam has struck a chord with me.

The problem I have with this game is that, the game is 30-40 hours long, of which like 10 are main plot content and the rest are filler. The first 5 hours are the best world building and the last 5 are the best character building moments I've seen in a long time, but they sandwich hours of long boring fetch quests. Some people say these hours are necessary to get attachment to the world, and I can see that But then I see other 40 hours worth of optional content and even more grinding.

Eventually the game asks you to walk all the way to the beginning, and it would feel more meaningful if I had not spent 60 hours walking back and forth, delivering and endless chain of generic boxes with little to not actual reward. Add the social duty to contribute to building roads and ziplines and it becomes a chore. The first time you have to cross a river or climb a mountain is cool, the 12th time it's boring.

And it reminded me of the MGS games. I love MGS 1-3, tolerate 4 for what it is, Peace Walker is cool, but 5, while the one with the best graphics and mechanics, dissolve it's main plot in a sea of filler content and unnecessary winks to other games. Did Death Stranding need to be an open-world AAA game? Did it need to have Norman Reedus and Mads Mikkelsen? I think that ironically it would've been better with a smaller budget and scale.

tl,dr; If you like Kojima, play Death Stranding. If you like narrative avant-guard walking simulators, play Death Stranding. But FOR THE GOD OF KOJIMA KAMINAN-DESU DON'T PLAY THE OPTIONAL STUFF. SPECIALLY THE DIRECTOR'S CUT CONTENT. The Peter Englert pizza questline is cool. That can stay. It's worth it. BUT IGNORE THE REST.

GTA 6 should stay far away from irl famous people-UNR

https://ift.tt/LNogFIO

Real life famous people in video games ruins the experience and immersion. At least it very much does so for me. I hate seeing them in a game because when I play something, I want to escape reality and be submerged into the world the devs created and not be constantly reminded of it by seeing A-listers in the storyline. Call of Duty did it with tons of famous people, Death Stranding with Norman Reedus, Cyberpunk 2077 with Keanu Reeves and Idris Elba and even Rockstar did it in GTA online which scares me that they will do it again for future games.

And I get it, it is just another marketing move by these companies to promote their games even more but if GTA 6 pulls the same stunt, it's gonna be a letdown for true gaming who just want to dive into a game world without the Hollywood interference.

I've never shifted before, but this has always been on my mind if you shift into a world like the Walking Dead, if an actor plays a character on the show like Andrew Lincoln or Norman Reedus, does that mean they still exist in that world same with other work they’ve been in or are non-existent as they are playing characters? THEORY: OD is the Beach from Death Stranding, but Amelie is gone now; this is a spin-off. The Door is a method of traversing the Beach to other horror worlds - worlds created by stillmothers like Sam Bridges' mom.-UNR

https://ift.tt/zv50Y6I

"Our nightmares are your dreams?" - Sam Strand

This line always stuck with me for some reason from the end of DS, and when Amelie cuts off her Beach from the rest of the world the Death Stranding is undone as she agrees to bear the weight of eternity to not end the world until she breaks (kind of like Atlas holding up the world)

Overdose will explore what has become of the Beach in her absence, and without a central "master" Beach we could end up having a multitude of decentralised multiverses, with their Beaches now severed from the centre. However, the Chiral Network still remains and is still functional at the end of the game despite Amelie's absence (proven by the sacrificed BBs watching over Lou's revival in the incinerator at the end of the game)

In an attempt to reconnect the Beach, the UCA must come to terms with the nightmares that Amelie experienced in order to determine what was the right path forward to save humanity. By connecting everyone, you have to face not only the joy that brings them together but their worst traumas and fears

This was EXACTLY the point of P.T.!

The demo can only be beaten by following the steps to make peace with yourself, and escape. Sam doesnt talk about what happened after his wife's suicide or what happened to him, he just disappeared...

...or he got stuck on the Beach, in his nightmares, like the dream sequences we experience throughout the game. The guilt ate him alive. The infinite cycle of P.T. was Sam punishing himself.

If we take P.T. as canon, Sam Strand (Norman Reedus) had to face the tragedy of having lost Lucy after she suicided while still pregnant. The whole "he shot his family" thing and being hated by the baby is all bluster: thats just Sam blaming himself for not being fast enough to save his wife. The name Lisa Bridges is actually his mother's name (the name of the monster in P.T.) - maybe saying its Oedipus complex might be too reaching. But its entirely possibly that Sam's mom being a "stillmother" led to her becoming a illusory apparition in a nightmare realm, hunting Sam through the Beach and being a source of his extreme guilt. Cliff calls Lisa his "Anomalisa" before he kills her...which is a very odd nickname, perhaps alluding to her nightmare qualities?

It is yet to be explained in Death Stranding what stillmothers actually experience. Maybe these nightmares are it? OD may be the experience of the women who are sacrificed to the chiral network, or perhaps theyre the monsters that populate it.

The 3 actors shown in the trailer, Hunter Schafer, Sophia Lillis, Udo Kier, all of them are taking part in "stillmother" nightmares of their own, connected by the Beach. This also explains the S.S.S system, that people may invade eachother's games with screams - thats how the chiral network works. This is the second Strand type game.

As for what this could look like as a game, Hideo Kojima has said he is looking for creators worldwide to create his game, and what I think he is doing is that he's getting them to create short stories: OD will be an anthology of different stories that the creators come up with (Jordan Peele will have a story, Guillermo has a story etc.) and each nightmare will be contextualised as trying to face the music so to speak

The UCA may be motivated to send these people in (whether willing or unwilling), duping them into the whole purple dinosaur hypnotism/drug overdose shtick in order to reconnect the network and force them into the Beach so they can patch the holes left by Amelie's sudden departure. The UCA have proven willing to sacrifice babies before, this wouldnt be unexpected of them to do. The flickering and radiation clicking may be the chiral network struggling to function, yet only in the final sequence with Sophia Lillis where she screams does the flickering stop, replaced by the droning chant - droning that could be BTs now interacting with Sophia's character now the "calibration" is complete.

Anyway that's my theory. Basically, OD is a way of Kojima trying to make P.T canon to Death Stranding following the events of the first game. OD will basically be a game-sized demo for DS2.

[Partially Lost] The Boondock Saints Screen-Test-UNR

The Boondock Saints is a film series by director Troy Duffy, starring Norman Reedus and Saint Patrick Flannery, with the first movie premiering in 1999. What I'm looking for is a screen test for the first movie, recorded presumably 1-2 years prior the actual filming started. There are a few gifs/screenshots created from this original video uploaded to YouTube by a channel "JessicaFaith" posted on July 16, 2006. Was there someone else in the house?-UNR

https://ift.tt/vEdLRj2

We all know the scene in PT where Daryl (that's what I'm calling the player character since he is played by Norman Reedus and plays Daryl Dixon in The Walking Dead) is trapped in the bathroom and Lisa is trying to get the door open. But on a rewatch of the scene, I realized something: If Lisa is the one who trapped him in the bathroom, why would she be struggling to open the door if she closed it in the first place? It's obvious that Lis revels in Daryl's pain but it seems strange that she can't open it. Did she even close the door? Is the fetus another entity or a vessel for one that tries to protect him?

One could argue that Lisa did close the door and messed with it to scare him. But assuming that she really was having trouble with the door, then who closed it and locked Lisa out? I'm starting to think the fetus may have had a bigger role since that's what you see in there and knows more than he lets on. Not to mention that he literally speaks to Daryl, something that is impossible for so many reasons. My theory is that whatever was controlling or talking through the fetus was manipulating Daryl for its own reasons. It has such a sinister tone in the way it speaks that I really do think that it was using him and egging him on.

This is leading to whole other topic entirely but my point is that something was possibly inside besides Daryl and Lisa. The matching fetus and radio voices, the warnings, the bag warning us, it leads me to believe that it wasn't just those two in the house. With how ghoulish and possessive the environment was, it doesn't seem that hard to believe that they were going to do something related to ghosts. What exactly? No one knows but Kojima, Norman and Konami unfortunately. And I don't think we'll ever know.

The Game Awards Are An Embarrassment-UNR

https://ift.tt/8v10Uhf

I don't know if this is an unpopular opinion, but the The Game Awards suck. This, just like the event itself, isn't about the awards or who won, but the show itself. I do not understand why anybody would watch it instead of looking the winners and announcements if they really care. It's not about awards, it's about advertisement and acting cool by inviting celebrities from outside gaming.

Who do you expect to get more screen time at a videogame award show?

- a guy who's never won there

- random advertisements (like Starfield showing a trailer with handpicked 9/10 reviews, or the 4 different Fortnite ads)

- people from outside the industry who have never played a game in their life OR

- those who actually won awards

Well, it's not the latter. When Baldur's Gate 3 won the game of the year award at the game awards they were on stage for one and a half minute before being told to wrap it up, but they got Simu Liu to tell an anecdote about spraining his ankle and had Captain America babble on forever. And why is Timothee Chalamet presenting the award despite having nothing to do with gaming? Fuck knows, that's why. It's telling when Neil Newbon who actually won the award for best performance got to speak for 45 seconds, while Hollywood actors got to speak 5 times more despite knowing nothing about gaming.

And why do they keep bringing movie actors? Can't gaming stand as it's own media so it needs to be validated as a real thing by people who have no knowledge of gaming? You don't pay a Nobel prize winner who's never seen a movie to give out the Oscar and give an empty speech about something they know nothing about. Is it just to pretend like they're part of the "cool kids club" with actors? They pay people who have no interest in gaming to say boring jokes and pretend (but fail) to seem slightly interested in what's going on. It's like inviting any guy in his 50s of the street to stand and read some notes without a clue about what's going on, or a hairdresser presenting a best carpenter's award.

It's one thing to have Norman Reedus promote Death Stranding, or Keanu Reeves/Idris Elba with Cyberpunk, but when the actors are not even involved with anything to do with gaming then what's the point?

And why are people like Kojima given more time to discuss his life than award winners at an award show? He has never won the GOTY award at TGA, so why's he treated so specially and given more screentime than the winners? He had more stage time than half the winners combined.

Sega Teases Major Announcement at The Game Awards-UNR

https://ift.tt/kxLG34H

Prominent video game company Sega is teasing a major announcement at The Game Awards, and many people have theories about what it could be.

Sega is teasing a major announcement for The Game Awards 2023. The renowned video game company has been nominated for three awards this year: Best Family Game (Sonic Superstars), Best Sim/Strategy Game (Company of Heroes 3), and Most Anticipated Game (Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth).

Sega has had a busy year publishing multiple video game titles, including ones from its popular IPs, such as Like a Dragon and Sonic the Hedgehog. Just last November, spinoff title Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name featuring Kazuma Kiryu was released and met with mostly positive reviews. Sega has more major titles coming out next year with Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth releasing in January, and Persona 3 Reload dropping in February. Not only that, it has a big-budget "Super Game" coming in 2026, which is expected to involve the entire gaming ecosystem.

With The Game Awards less than a week away, Sega is gearing up to make a major announcement. Gaming content creators like Curiousjoi shared an invitation they received from Sega, which had the phrase "New Era, New Energy" on it. It also encouraged the recipients and their followers to tune in live at The Game Awards on December 7.

Sega's invitation was pretty vague, but many fans had their own theories as to what the announcement might be. Some believe that Sega will reveal its Super Game for the first time. Others think it might be a new console as a follow-up to 2022's Sega Genesis Mini 2. Okami13_ also had a guess that Sega might announce Virtua Fighter 6.

The Game Awards is a must-watch for avid gamers as many prominent video game companies announce new projects to look forward to. Last year, one of the major announcements was Kojima Productions' Death Stranding 2, which debuted with a cinematic teaser featuring Sam (played by Norman Reedus) and Fragile (Lea Seydoux). If Sega wants to make a big splash, it might reveal the first teaser for its Super Game, or surprise everyone with an unexpected title.

Viewers can also expect more exciting announcements during The Game Awards, though they will have to tune in to see what's in store.

Very new, and Very confused.-UNR

https://ift.tt/kxLG34H

Hi all! I VERY recently (two days ago) discovered Helluva Boss through a YouTube Short. Loved it, binged it, binged it again, now I just want more. Then I discovered Hazbin Hotel, and I'm very confused. Has the series already been out? Where can I see it? Norman Reedus has a role in Helluva Boss because he loved Hazbin Hotel, but it's not out? And what is Hazbin Hotel: Journey to the Light? I found a wiki that explains things about Blitz from that series but I genuinely can't figure out timelines. Starting from so behind, could anyone give me a quick help? Googling it just lands me more confused. Thank you!

Why do people keep saying this game is empty?? (Rant)-UNR

https://ift.tt/4EbC6D7

I can't even have a 10 second conversation with someone about Starfield without them immediately going off about how "empty" and "barren" starfield is. I see it in almost every forum post/question/topic of or relating to starfield everywhere.

Like the people who claim starfield is "empty" and boring are the same people who drooled over Norman Reedus carrying his dead mom across a giant rock and being a glorified pizza delivery guy while basically on 10 tabs of LSD. You're all the same people who missed jr high graduation because you were too busy spending your 10,000th hour in No Man's Lie, at about 1/10th the graphics and 1/100th of the action this game has. You all know you're just salty that slime rancher 3 isn't out yet. Calm down. Starfield is immaculate. You're just mad.

A Fun Coincidence regarding the Jim Morrison Cameo (?) In TWD: Daryl Dixon-UNR

https://ift.tt/4EbC6D7

I was watching a 6 year old video of Norman Reedus on the Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon and he talked about how he knew a Cafè in Venice, California that had a portrait of Jim Morrison on the wall.

Maybe he's been a Jim Morrison fan for a while and wanted the writers to implement that there,

Hell, it might've been why the show was set it France (But that's a stretch obv).

Ofc he didn't put up or make that portrait so it's probably a coincidence.

Thoughts?

Edit: It was a mural and the video's title is "Norman Reedus Ran from Cops on Dirt Bikes as a Teen"

Daryl’s age-UNR

https://ift.tt/4EbC6D7

It’s obvious Norman Reedus was in his early 40s when season 1 was filmed but I’ve always felt he played the character to be a lot younger. The way he acts in the first 2 seasons screams early to mid 20s, while Merle is a decade older. Just the way he reacts to things, gets attached reminded me of a much younger character and I think Norman did that intentionally. What do you guys think?

I think it fits the character of Daryl more to be younger. It makes his protective crush he had on Beth more realistic, his dysfunctional mother / liking he has about Carol would work more imo. How awkward and inexperienced he can come off.

I swear I’ve seen people in this subreddit talk about something like this before, how the character just comes off much younger than the actor.

The Boondock Saints is a Tarantino-esque work of genius - baffled I'd never heard of it before-UNR

https://ift.tt/CHDvoaK

I happened to watch it as I saw it was in Prime and starred Willem Dafoe. I was not expecting it to be so bloody good.

This film is up there with Tarantino's works, has a stellar cast and incredible writing. Just a great fun film with an edge as it has serious social commentary narrative.

I love how bizarre, funny and balls to the walls nuts it gets.

It has to be Dafoe's greatest role. He is having so much fun with this role. Utterly chewing up the scenery.

Norman Reedus and Sean Patrick Flanery just really likeable and very funny as the two brothers. Hah there's a surprise role from the great Billy Conelly. And even a particularly menacing performance from Ron Jeremy.

Just a brilliant dark movie. I can't believe the writer director Troy Duffy is as well known or hasn't made anything noteworthy since, he's clearly a genius since this was his first ever movie and script.

I have some time off coming up this holiday, so looking for anything to play that I’ll remember. I prefer single player narrative focus, but open to anything. Here are a few I’ve played to help with what I’m looking for

  • Nier Replicant & Automata (was obsessed for a while and completed both and read the books)

  • Death Stranding (played this over Christmas 2019 non stop for 5 days straight. Was having dreams about Norman Reedus and Lou lmao)

  • Dark Souls 1 (the interconnected world and environmental story telling was incredible. I spent hours reading up on the lore to better understand the game)

  • Bioshock 1 & 3 (2 was great but didn’t hit me as much as 1 and 3)

  • Ocarina of Time (something about this one stuck with me over the others)

  • Prey 2017 (loved the isolation in space feel. Discovering the story through computer logs and notes)

  • Fire Watch (immersive, great voice acting, and interesting story)

  • Oxenfree 1 & 2 (impressive writing and voice acting, felt relatable)

Sevro-UNR

https://ift.tt/Q8b1sP6

I think one of the things people keep forgetting when posting about Sevro, is he's still a Gold. The lowest Gold is still probably in the top 20% in looks, even if unconventional.

He should be played by an actor that is ugly hot. Not necessarily THESE actors, but this type comes to mind.

Adam Driver DJ Qualls Paul Dano Norman Reedus Matt Smith

All of these actors people will debate on if they're hot or not. But none of them will ever be compared to Brad Pitt or the like. So, still attractive in their own way but probably not competing for Sexiest Man Of The Year.

Did any famous actors graduate acting school in their 30s?-UNR

https://ift.tt/MLB49dZ

Hello, I'm in my late 20's and considering going to acting school here in UK. I'm in my later 20's and would graduate in my early 30's. I spoke with a student who was 25 who graduated from a very high regarded acting school here and she told me they had people ranging from 21-41 which surprised me, I didn't think they'd accept mature students of this age into acting schools and presumed you'd stand out like crazy, but I have friends that are 20 and despite being a little more mature, I don't think it's really a noticeable age difference, she did mention that in the school 30's isn't ''old'' but it's older than average in an acting school, it kind of put my mind at ease considering this dream. I make money from self-employment and my own business' so actually have time and money to invest into doing this.

I started reading about actors who started later including Mads Mikkelsen who started at 31 or Norman Reedus who started at 29 etc but they tend to have done something before and just jumped into acting and got lucky and worked hard.

Did any actors/actress' graduate any acting school in USA or UK in their 30's? This stuff really motivates me for some reason and I always see them graduating acting schools at 21 or at latest 25-27 when I look on the wikipedia, would be nice to see some people who graduated later but maybe that's not a thing and when you're older you need to just jump into it?

Beware of Freon-UNR

https://ift.tt/IMABRF5

Do you know what Freon is? Well, for the un-initiated, Freon, R-22, or chlorodifluoromethane is a halomethane hydrocarbon commonly used a refrigerant for air conditioners and refrigerators. It's also abused as a recreational inhalant for it's euphoric and dissociative/ salvia-like hallucinogenic side-effects. I would know, as I was once an avid user of Freon. As I've been clean for over a decade now, I figured that this board was a good place to share the story, so here we go.

It began in a summer of '95 when I was 14 years old when I started shooting heroin. I had no father and my mother was an abusive wretch who I would rather die then spend a single minute around. After several months of smoking crack, a girl that I knew introduced me to heroin. She got the needle ready and put it my arm, and injected the liquid into my arm, and.... holy shit, it was the best feeling ever. It was like a full-body and mind orgasm times a thousand. I don't know, you really have to experience it your self to comprehend it. Anyway, after several years of shooting dope and working a shitty job at a convenience store, in 2003, a friend of mine, who we'll call B, hit me up telling me that he knew a guy who had this drug that could produce euphoria more powerful than the first time you tried heroin. He told me that this guy was not only the biggest crack-head west of the Mississippi, but he also had ready access to all different types of drugs, from volatile inhalants and stimulants like top-quality meth and coke, all the way to research psychedelics, entactogens, and deliriants. During this time, the only drugs that I had used so far were heroin and oxycodone.

I was interested, so I asked what the drug was. He just chuckled and said "You'll see!", as he beckoned me to his car. I had the day off, so I got into his car and we drive for about an hour until we arrived at an older house wit an old Ford pick-up parked in front of it. We got out and went to the front door and knocked. This guy (C), who looked like a disheveled version of Norman Reedus answered the door. He was obviously hyped up on some kind of stimulant as he began speed-talking about a "hydrocarbon that feels like heaven" while looking up at the sky. I began laughing at his odd behavior as we walk in. I asked him what this drug was and he ran out of the room, and came back later holding a canister with the text "R-22" on it. He said it was called Freon, and said that it was like a "combination of heroin and PCP, minus the psychosis and mania"

He handed me a balloon and told me to connect the balloon to the canister. I did so, and he then said to put the balloon to your mouth and begin exhaling and inhaling like you would with nitrous oxide. I detached the balloon and began huffing. I took a hit, and holy shit, this stuff was like the rush I got from my first heroin injection multiplied one-hundred fold. It was at that point that heroin lost its magic, and I knew that I Freon would be my new drug of choice. Looking back on it, this was probably the biggest mistake I've ever made. Considering how many drugs this guy somehow had access to, I should have asked for some 2-CB or something, not this shit. Anyway, after the rush faded, which probably lasted for about 2 - 4 minutes, I took passed the balloon to my friend, who began huffing.

We then refilled the balloon, and I went first. I took 4 hard hits. Euphoria washed over me once more, even more intense than before, as my vision faded to a greenish-cyan color. My friends were laughing. The pitch of their voice was dipping from high to low, and I immediately saw my self from the third person. I was standing, wobbling like an old person. I then took the perspective of the television, which was right across from the sofa we were at. Everything suddenly turned to a red color as my friend jumped atop the sofa and yelled "IM THE KING OF THE WORLD" and then jumped off, falling on his ass and making a loud ass bang in the process. C began laughing his ass off as B hobbled up and began huffing again. I was then struck with a feeling of paranoia as I was scared that I was doomed to be a TV for rest of my existence, that this was my punishment for hedonism. A few minutes later, I came to. I was still standing, but I was dizzy was hell and I had a slight headache.

C passed me the bag and I took 2 more huffs. I didn't trip again, but I was filled confusion. B said something along the lines of "Bro, imagine huffing Freon while tripping on Benadryl!" My Freon riddled mind had no idea what he was talking about, so I responded with "Benadryl? What's Benadryl? Benny Drill? Ben O'Drell? Wait no, I bent a drill!". The rest of the nigh went on like this as I took a bout a dozen or so more hits, but not in succession. I probably would have died if I took 12 hits in succession. A few hours later, B drove me home as a tingly feeling radiated throughout my body. The next day, I craved Freon more than I ever craved heroin. I craved this Freon so much that I would be willing to be flagellated, crucified, then boiled alive 5 times over just to get it. I did some research and found out that Freon was easily accessible through the AC units. I called up B, and told to meet me at the local church. The local church had multiple AC units as it turned out. We went to the church, and we began huffing. I took 5 hits and I felt a euphoric rush accompanied by a feeling of shrinking at an extreme speed. I shrunk down to the size of a quark. Everything around me looked completely alien as I took the size of an elementary particle. It looked absolutely stunning, an I wanted to stay their forever. I wandered around for a few hours, but then, some other quarks came over and began talking to me.

"Holy shit! Where did you come from!?" One of the quarks exclaimed.

"Dude, what the hell are you doing? Why the absolute fuck would you inhale hydrocarbons? What the hell is wrong with you??!!!" another exclaimed.

The quarks were right. They were trying to help me. I knew what they were saying, and I knew they were right, but I didn't care. The euphoria was too much. I then began growing again, and I was horrified, horrified that I would no longer exist in that perfect world I was in. After the trip ended, I found myself lying on the pavement, looking up at the sun. I got up and looked at my watch. I had only been 2 minutes, even though the trip felt like it lasted hours. I hobbled over to the AC and started huffing again. I took 6 hits, and looked behind me. There was an 18-wheeler parked by the church, and it suddenly transformed into a giant robot. The robot began laughing at me, laughing at me for how stupid I was and how I would go nowhere in life, all while bearing the most terrifying grin I had ever seen on any living thing. Then, just like that, the trip ended.

My next experience happened 2 days later. I had bought myself a canister of Freon R-22, and some balloons. As soon as I got home, I unboxed the canister and began huffing. I took 7 hits. Euphoria hit me as usual, and everything took on a 16-bit look. I became confused as I interacted with the things around my house. Every time I touched the wall, there was a pixilated ripple effect on it, same thing with everything else I touched. I walked over to the bedroom and opened the door. The entire room was still 16-bit, but it was in a black and white color. There was a person who sort of resembled Toad from Super Mario sitting on my bed. He told me "You're locked to the cold. Please end this..." I didn't know what he meant. Suddenly, everything began fading, and after ten seconds of blackness, I heard the Toad guy yell "DON'T WAKE UP. DON'T WAKE UP. DON'T WAKE UP. AWAKEN OR CEASE TO BE. DON'T WAKEUP. I BEG OF YOU"

I woke up, and picked up the balloon, refilled it, and started huffing again. After huffs, I heard a knock on the door. It was B. I let him in and gave him a balloon. We then began huffing. I took 6 hits and another trip began. I felt a euphoric rush, and noticed that my PS2 took on a human-shape like the 18-wheeler did, and began dancing. I looked over to my friend and told him that he had to see this. He looked at the dancing PS2. I then began laughing. I was laughing so hard I could have had a stroke. After several minutes of laughing, the trip then ended, as did the euphoria. I started huffing again, and a new trip began. The PS2 was still standing there, talking to me. It said "YOU ARE" and then said "ERA OUY" in a loud, booming voice. I turned around and walked out of the home. I looked up to the sky and saw a shit ton of UFO's and aliens slowly falling to the ground. The aliens pulled out laser blasters and began destroying the cars and homes. I sat there, watching the destruction happen. Suddenly, the trip ended, and I had the worst headache ever accompanied by severe rebound anxiety.

I began huffing again, and this time I actually passed out.

This next experience was the last Freon trip I had. This time, I was with tome friends of mine, including B, at a house-party near my home. Most of the kids there were in college, but some were still in high-school. Most of them weren't doing any drugs, but the ones that were, they were using more tame drugs, such as beer, MDMA, cocaine or LSD. Meanwhile, B and I, a well as two others were huffing Freon in the backyard near a bonfire. I took 10 hits in succession, and everything went black, and then blue and red about 50 times over and then I found myself in what looked like a hallway. The walls were made out of metal and the floors were black. I turned around and say about a dozen dark-red figures. They began talking, one after another.

The first one said "NO!"

The second, "Cursed."

The third, "You doomed yourself."

The fourth, "Why did you kill us all?"

I was terrified, I thought these beings would kill me. I started running, and I realized that this hallway was actually a maze. I just ran at full speed. I just continued running, for what felt like millions of years, no joke; it literally felt like millions of years passed during this trip. I ran, and the red figures were chasing yelling various insults at me. After another million years of running, the trip apparently ended. I woke up next, and It actually took me about 30 minutes to comprehend that millions of years didn't pass, as it legit felt like millions of years. I asked B how long I was out for, and he said for about a minute and a half. I picked up another balloon and began huffing again, and I was right back into the same maze. I began running again as the same red figures were chasing me, threatening to kill me. A few million years then passed, and then everything went black, and my body went numb.

I then heard a beeping sound, and as soon as the beeping sound started, the message "WARNIG! BODY TEMPERATURE BELOW 95 DEGREES!" in red text with a red triangle warning sign beside it flashed for about 15 times before everything faded to a blood red color as I felt pain that was on par with a cluster headache throughout my entire head. A few seconds later, I began experiencing psychedelic-like visuals as the pain quickly faded into euphoria, this rush being the most powerful one yet. Despite the powerful euphoric rushes I've had prior to this one, there is no adequate word in any known language on the planet to describe how utterly at peace I felt, then it clicked in my head that I was dying. I just laid there, ready to and excited to accept my fate. Then, a moment of clarity hit me; I didn't want to die, I was only 22 years old. I know I was hopelessly addicted to shit, but I still had potential; so much to do, people to meet, jobs to get and money to make, a woman to meet, and kids to have. Faintly, I heard B yell "Shit! He's foaming! Call an ambulance NOW!" I then heard echoed yelling of what sounded like paramedics yelling a bunch of medical jargon. I still couldn't see, but the feeling of relief was un-real.

I woke up in the hospital. The doctor came in a few minutes later and told me that my lungs were nearly destroyed and that my internal body temperature was only 89 degrees, a dangerously low level, and had I gone without treatment for even a few more minutes, I would have died. He then asked me how many times I had huffed Freon, and I told him that I lost count, that it was so addictive that It was impossible to keep track. He then told me that it was nothing short of a miracle that I didn't die from hypothermia, internal frost-bite, or hypoxia, or that I was still able to think and talk coherently. It was also a miracle that I didn't fall and fracture my skull or some shit while under the influence. He then said due to my addictive personality, that I should check into an addiction program as soon as I'm discharged. I met B at the same program, and told him that I was quitting Freon and heroin. He said he was doing the same.

My psychiatrist prescribed low-dose benzodiazepines to deal with the anxiety from withdrawal, and the addiction program went well. I still got cravings, but they aren't as intense as they used to be. I was eventually able to get off of the heroin and the Freon, and got myself a job and a car. I'm doing pretty well for my self now, and me and B are still friends. As deadly as Freon was, it taught me an invaluable lesson; a lesson I should have learned long before I touched it. I've been clean of heroin and Freon for over a decade now. I still enjoy drugs, however. I smoke weed once a week, and pop the occasional acid tab or 2-CB tablet, but I no longer shoot dope or huff dangerous hydrocarbons.

Take this from me; never huff anything. NEVER. EVER. HUFF. ANYTHING. PERIOD. Use literally anything else; sniff some coke, shoot some ketamine, smoke a joint or pop a molly, you're better off doing any other drug than huffing volatile solvents. I learned that the hard way, and it could happen to you.

Again, never huff anything. Your body will thank you. Trust me.

What are some more underrated picks to play Shadow in Movie 3?-UNR

https://ift.tt/JQGRS0p

Now that the Actor's Strike is essentially over, what are some potential picks for Shadow's actor that aren't talked about enough?

I know a lot of people want Keanu Reeves or Robert Pattinson to play him, and I do think that those are both good and even likely picks, but there are a lot of other great actors that would do a good job. One option I would love to see would be Norman Reedus. Mainly I just want to see him in something other than The Walking Dead.

And just to address it, there's like a 0.1% chance they pick one of the game VA's. I mean never say never, but to be honest the people who are convinced it's going to be Jason Griffith are coping hard. I'll eat my shorts if I'm proven wrong.

Acting in twd-UNR

https://ift.tt/TCbOEac

I’m currently rewatching the walking dead and it never fails to amaze me how great the actors are in the show. Even though im rewatching and I know everything that’s going to happen, it keeps me on my toes and it hits so hard when a character I like dies.

Andrew Lincoln is one of the best I’d say and im surprised he’s not talked about more and hasn’t won at least one award. His acting is phenomenal. He portrays Rick like a damn magician or something. You can really see how Rick changes throughout the seasons and Andrew follows that amazingly. Melissa McBride is also amazing. She’s also someone who’s really amazing at following and expressing the character development of Carol. Chandler Riggs. Holy shit. As someone so young while in the show, who grew up on the show, his acting is absolutely amazing and I started to realise that during season 3 and 4. In season 4 after the prison went down and he and Rick found Judith’s carrier and though she was killed, Carl walked off and then went on overkill on a walker. That was amazing acting. What also stood out was when Rick and Carl hid in the house just after they left the prison. When Carl shouted at Rick when he was sleeping. Then when he thought Rick had turned and had the gun pointing at him. The emotion he could portray as a child is extremely well done.

Of course there are a number of amazing actors in the show. Norman Reedus for obvious reasons. Scott Wilson. Michael Rooker. I saw him in the guardians of the galaxy before I started watching twd.

These were just the ones who stands out to me most.

The Story of ASOUE as written by an AI-UNR

https://ift.tt/TCbOEac

This is a story about three orphans named Violet, Klaus and Sunny Baudelaire who, after having escaped Count Olaf from stealing their family fortune, are separated from three freaks from the Caligari Carnival. Violet and Klaus rolling down a steep slope in a caravan, and Sunny in Count Olaf's car. The children have to wait to get their fortune back before they can reunite with their family.

The Original Series and the films were the beginnings of The Lemony Snicket series. The Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events now refers to the television series and the 2007 film, which was based on the first book of the series, The Austere Academy. The story of these books takes place in a strange land called the "Snicketverse", which is the domain of an evil genius named Count Olaf, who attempts to get the children's inheritance from their parents (who have become orphans after they die). However, the children manage to defeat the evil Count Olaf in the second book, The Bad Beginning, and in the third book, The Reptile Room. The films also portray a host of other characters, such as the Coonish Baudelaire orphans' neighbors Klaus' Uncle Monty and Aunt Josephine, Captain Sham, and the Valets.

The TV series was originally broadcast on Cartoon Network in 2004, and was produced by Studio B Productions, directed by Barry Sonnenfeld, and produced by Jim Miller. The series ran for three seasons and 23 episodes, concluding in 2006. The first and second seasons featured Jim Carrey voicing Count Olaf, and Jim Parsons voicing V.F.D. (Volunteers for the Preservation of Family and Culture) member Jean-Michel (later also known as Man B) Vandegrift, a high-society man who is impersonating a servant in order to pose as a Count Olaf double. As this character was based on Count Olaf, the character was modified slightly for The Bad Beginning to make him slightly less horrid. The two actors were not replaced for The Reptile Room, as it is mostly told from the perspective of Violet and Klaus and their life in Olaf's mansion.

The series was adapted into an eight-part theatrical movie released on February 19, 2007, a year before the TV series was originally set to end. This film is also different from the TV series. It introduces a new lead antagonist, Count Olaf, who is the founder of V.F.D., an organization dedicated to uncovering and hiding the things in society that children find strange or unsettling.

Rather than developing characters over the course of the TV series, as was the case with most other shows that premiered in the late 2000s, The Bad Beginning was dedicated to introducing characters and developing the relationships between them. As a result, all of the main characters of the TV series made cameo appearances during the movie.

Funimation Entertainment licensed the first two seasons for streaming on their website in North America, as well as an abridged DVD set which included four special featurettes, including interviews with the show's creators and writers, concept art, episode guides, and an extensive set tour, giving an in-depth look at the set design and props featured in the series. Funimation also made the complete series available on their DVD release of the TV series on October 7, 2011.

Following the first two seasons, the series was produced as a feature-length film, The Reptile Room, released on February 5, 2013.

The second film, The Wide Window, featured a character named Esmé Squalor, but this character was removed from subsequent adaptations of the books, so her role in the first film was her only role in the entire franchise.

On September 25, 2018, Netflix began streaming an eight-episode third film, The Carnivorous Carnival, in its entirety. It was directed by Daniel Handler, and featured a cameo from Lemony Snicket.

CHARACTERS

COUNT OLAF, MAIN ANTAGONIST

Count Olaf (a.k.a. Count Olaf the Fourth, in some translations, in the French and Italian-dubbed versions, and also as a "bloodsucking vulture" in the American TV series) is a wicked and greedy character and the main antagonist of the series. Count Olaf's real name is Olaf I, Count of Lede. He is the eldest son of Eric the Elder and Helga, an overweight blonde woman with crooked teeth. After the death of his father, Olaf inherited the "Vole House", a mansion in the town of Ensemble in the Netherlands that is rumored to be cursed. There he founded the Vole Hunting Society (a.k.a. V.F.D.) for the express purpose of hunting, capturing, and devouring the Vole-possessed children.

In his first appearance in the pilot episode of the TV series, Olaf was seen living as a servant in a castle in Ensemble. Olaf wants to get a beautiful young girl named Gretchen over to the castle for his use. He makes his way to New York, where he arrives in a rickety old carriage, without a passport or even a change of clothes. He is helped by the people he encounters along the way, including a giant bird (played by the Count's pet chicken), a few orphans, and a kindly vagrant. It was here that he first meets the Baudelaire orphans and their guardian, Mr. Poe, in a Manhattan restaurant, and claims to be a British actor. In reality, Olaf is a notorious fraudster and is in search of his long-lost sister, Beatrice. Before his arrival in New York, he has spent several years traveling from country to country, impersonating other people, to try to win her hand in marriage. Olaf comes to a significant stand-off with the Baudelaires, but after failing to discover Beatrice, he sets his sights on the children. He then leaves the children with Mr. Poe, and returns to Ensemble in time to invite the Baudelaires to the Vole Ball.

Although he does not appear in book four, Olaf is mentioned several times, and its events are described by the Baudelaires as occurring after the events of the previous book. Olaf was finally revealed to be alive in the final book, and has already obtained most of the family fortune.

Count Olaf is renowned for being a skilled liar, and there is no word on how he manages to deceive most people he comes into contact with so often. In his first appearance in the TV series, he claims to have performed at London's Covent Garden, and in his second appearance, he is shown trying to con the Baudelaires out of their inheritance. The French dub of the series contains a scene in which he prepares to demonstrate a display of dexterity, stating ‘Look out, Bernard Samson!’ in the style of Marlon Brando's performance in The Godfather.

Since the death of his father, Olaf has run his V.F.D. much like his father, being ruthless and money-minded; he once described his life as ‘only half as much fun as it used to be’, a reference to his lack of family, because of his cruelty. He exhibits sociopathic tendencies, often torturing his victims or merely the possibility of torturing them. He also has various obsessive interests, one of which is collecting miniature pictures of babies, which he exhibits in his dungeon of V.F.D. headquarters. He also bemoans the fact that when he was a child, people, mostly his mother, called him ‘Frollo’, a name he finds utterly terrifying.

ESMÉ SQUALOR, COUNT OLAF’S GIRLFRIEND

Esmé Squalor is an upper-class girl who became popularly known as ‘Count Olaf's girlfriend’ when her name was revealed in the Baudelaires' fortune. According to Mr. Poe, Esmé and Count Olaf first met when Esmé was 12 and Count Olaf was 20, and were involved for almost 30 years until she finally revealed her secret. It is unclear why she turned her back on the much older man and his far more well-off lifestyle, but she states that she was unhappy in the relationship, even though she still loves him. Her interest in the children, as well as Count Olaf's, stems from the huge inheritance he expected to receive, which included her wedding ring. While Esmé is responsible for the deaths of several characters, she appears to be good-hearted and would not try to harm anyone unless compelled to do so, such as by the Baudelaires' parents. She assists Count Olaf in his crimes, at one point saying, ‘Please, sir, may I have a step behind?’

She, along with the hook-handed man and the person of indeterminate gender from Olaf's troupe, are also involved in Count Olaf's next play, as are the sisters. While the sisters disappear at one point, Esmé and Count Olaf remain, in spite of Count Olaf's obvious need of mental help. After Count Olaf flees with his money, Esmé helps Mr. Poe by disguising herself as the hook-handed man in order to rescue the Baudelaires.

When Esmé meets Madame Lulu, also known as Olivia Squalor, she is shocked to discover that Olivia has a British accent, and accuses her of pretending to be a countess, since Esmé still believes Olivia is ‘duchess’. Esmé also notes that Olivia was ‘trouble with a capital T, and she sounds like a real name’.

When Olivia reveals the true nature of her identity, Esmé says, ‘Well, if it isn't Count Olaf's posh girlfriend.’ When Olivia claims to not recognize Esmé, Esmé replies that her name is Ella Squalor, adding, ‘Although I thought you were a countess.’

Olivia responds by saying, ‘And how are you planning to save your new little red-headed ward?’ Esmé makes several sarcastic comments about the

audience reaction to her, also adding, ‘I don't think we're in America anymore, I think we're in Australia.’

She and Count Olaf later meet at a tea house, where they drink together, and talk about Esmé's ‘new little red-head ward’.

Count Olaf states, ‘I would love to work with a truly clever director... Esmé, a true artist could learn much from you." However, Esmé responds sarcastically, ‘Oh, Count Olaf, you know how to make an impression. I should think you would just love to watch the real master at work,’ adding, ‘One hopes you understand, Count Olaf, you're not going to get the girl.’

She then thanks Count Olaf for the meeting and informs him that she will not be needing a costume change.

AUNT JOSEPHINE, WIDOW LIVING ON LAKE LACHRYMOSE

Aunt Josephine was introduced to the Baudelaires in The Bad Beginning when a mysterious woman arrived at her house with a large suitcase full of money and was heard to ask ‘Your niece and nephew are here. Do you want to take them out in your boat?’ in a thick Scottish accent. She and the children then went out in her boat, which she left when the Baudelaires fell asleep.

When the children woke up, they asked if she was the one who brought them the cake, to which Josephine replied, ‘No, my grandson did that. It wasn't easy, though. He had to get out on his paddleboard and steer us around the duck island. That was a tricky maneuver.’ She was then alerted to the fact that the children had not paid her, but she claimed to not care, and kept insisting on money, to which they claimed they did not have.

Eventually, she bought the children a smoothie from a vending machine and bought some time by trying to convince the Baudelaires to come away with her, as she herself had nowhere else to go. She states to the children, ‘It's all right, you can trust me. I wouldn't let you come here if I thought I had to give you up. This is as far as I'm going.’ However, it was all a trap, as she dropped them off at the Quagmire residence, where Count Olaf discovered them.

When Count Olaf and his henchmen, along with Sunny and Klaus, stormed the house and tried to steal them, she suggested getting some of the Baudelaires’ money and doing something ‘boring’ with it, so the children would not try to escape, revealing that she had planned all along to get them. She later met with Count Olaf at the Rat Eat Bird Café, where she told him that she would not be their guardian for ‘them’.

While the Baudelaires and Olaf were arguing, Aunt Josephine made her escape and took the opportunity to run down the street. She was then spotted by Ms. Hubbard and taken back to the café, where the rest of the café’s patrons, the Count and his other henchmen, and Ms. Hubbard all helped to chase her down.

It was later revealed that her name was Aunt Josephine Sheard. She met Count Olaf and the Baudelaires in order to "take them away," after which they left for Montgomery.

VIOLET, KLAUS AND SUNNY, THE BAUDELAIRE CHILDREN

In The Reptile Room, the Baudelaires first meet the children at V.F.D., where Violet, Klaus, and Sunny claim to be orphans. She and her brother told Count Olaf and his henchmen that they didn’t have any money, however she was later hired to be one of Count Olaf's maids.

After Count Olaf and his henchmen manage to escape with them, they go to the Quagmire house where the Baudelaires also live. They try to have breakfast, but the Baudelaires remind the children that they don’t have money. The children then introduce themselves as orphans. Violet offers them pancakes and the children take it. As the Baudelaires were about to leave, the Baudelaires noticed that the children's mother was still alive and even suggested that she could make pancakes. The Baudelaires decide to pay for the pancakes by borrowing Mrs. Quagmire's car.

Unable to drive, Violet pretended to run out of gas, leaving Klaus and Sunny to steer the car. The children eventually convinced Violet to start driving again and they finally set off, heading to the Baudelaires' home. When Klaus realized that they were not going to bring the Baudelaires with them, he went back to the Quagmire house. Violet attempted to drive with Sunny but became distracted by her ringtone, which is an audio file of the Baudelaires as children.

After bumping into Aunt Josephine, she realized that the children are not orphans and proceeded to leave the scene, and Sunny ran to find the Baudelaires.

Count Olaf later contacted the Baudelaires to tell them that Sunny and Klaus had left, believing them to be orphans. He also revealed that Sunny and Klaus are in fact the Baudelaires' cousins, and that they were taken in after the Baudelaires' parents were killed. He told them that Mrs. Quagmire's house was on a secluded island, and that they needed to steal the Baudelaires' van.

Mrs. Quagmire is revealed to be a coward and turned down the offer to hide the children because she did not want to go back to hiding in the Quagmire house with the Quagmires.

When Violet, Klaus, and Sunny arrived at the house, they were locked inside and Olaf and his men proceed to get them out of the van.

JUSTICE STRAUSS, A FAMILY FRIEND

Violet, Klaus and Sunny meet Justice Strauss and her father, Mr. Strauss, in The End, when they're kidnapped by Count Olaf.

Justice Strauss, who lives in New York City, is the daughter of a distant cousin of the Baudelaires. She and her father met the Baudelaires at a plane crash survivors' convention. He introduced her to Count Olaf as his cousin.

Olaf asked her to take a video of him and the Baudelaires stealing money from a bank, but Justice Strauss refused. She later went to collect money from her cousin's house, as she was sent with money to pay for the film, and was taken to the Baudelaires' van. She told Count Olaf that she refused the money and left to hide behind some bushes.

The Baudelaires noticed her and attacked her, as she was holding a teddy bear that her father had given her. She managed to use her teddy bear to protect herself from their attack, until Mr. Strauss found them. He told her that he didn't want them hurt and instead promised to tell his wife what had happened. Mr. Strauss instructed Justice Strauss to pretend that they had come for their money, and not for Justice Strauss herself. He also advised her not to use her father's credit card again.

Mr. Strauss was then called away and Justice Strauss was forced to hide in a bush.

She was later found by Olaf, who had found the Baudelaires, and had the children thrown into the basement of a building.

Justice Strauss then gathered a group of children together and told them that they were all orphans. She then told them that they were destined to be Count Olaf's victims. She told the children that Count Olaf was in the basement, ready to torture them, but that he would not hurt the Baudelaires. Justice Strauss then sent the children into the basement, telling them that she would come for them in one hour.

She later finds the Baudelaires' cell phone. She lets them use the phone to call the children's parents.

MANUAL

In the 2014 film adaptation of the second book, The Bad Beginning, the criminal Mr. Poe's daughter, the vampire Count Olaf, kidnaps the children and tries to kill them by injecting them with poison. She was played by Kelly Macdonald.

In the original novel The Reptile Room, the character Senator Esmerelda Eddy is the cousin of Mr. and Mrs. Quimby, but in the film adaptation her role was recast as the daughter of Mr. Poe, and as a strict religious and moral woman who tries to get the children to abandon their new friends. In the film, she appears at the end of the film during a scene in which the Quimbys' house catches on fire. In the book, she is mentioned and included in one of the Quimbys' most terrible dreams, and has no role to play in the events of the book.

LAST LAP

The character Susan Pleakley, portrayed by Kristen Bell in the film, and, while not officially introduced until the sixth book, in The Hostile Hospital, is the aunt of the Baudelaires. In the film she is portrayed as living in the U.S., but in the TV series it is stated that she and Mr. Poe are in England. It is also implied in the film that she is married to Mr. Poe and the mother of twin boys. In The Hostile Hospital, she is stated as having an affair with another character's father, but the nature of this affair is unknown. In her introductory scenes in The Hostile Hospital, she only appears in the background.
