What hidden gameplay mechanics and details did you find?-UNR

https://ift.tt/RSQMoeC

The game does explain most of the game mechanics in the game, but a lot of them are left unexplained, and are usually found by players who share it between themselves. I wanna make a list of these, so if you have any you found, be sure to add them.

Some of the ones that are already on the list are (keep in mind that some of these could already be explained in the game, and/or they are very easy to guess already):

  • Did you know that you can use your strand to tie down your cargo on cargo carriers? Did you also know that this is also possible for the Reverse Trike: Transporter? Both prevent cargo from falling out from their carriers when you crash, which is really useful when you don't want your cargo to fall through the map, 260 metres down into the void below. It's happened to me more than three times.
  • Did you know that you can use regular bullets against BTs by first throwing a hematic grenade at them, and then shooting at the BT through the red smoke that is made?
  • Did you know about the hidden variants of the shotguns, rifles and handgun that are unlocked when you do a specific set of missions? These variants have the ability to use chiral crystals instead of your blood, which then are more effective against BTs.
  • Did you know that there exists a hidden variant of the Reverse Trike hidden in one of the memory chips, where Sam will fucking constantly without fucking stop talk about Ride with Norman Reedus, with the added small bonuses of extra battery life as well as cargo options on the trike?
  • Did you know that you can incapacitate any human enemy instantly with the Bola Gun? If you aim the gun at any human enemy's head and fire, the enemy will be instantly incapacitated.
  • Did you know that, during the secret boss fight in the child's playroom, you can throw toy cargo at the boss to distract them momentarily? The boss will focus on the cargo instead, and play with it, allowing you to dish out some easy damage.
  • Did you know that there exists a hidden variation of the EX-grenade? Under special circumstances, Sam will literally get an UTI, and produce EX-grenades with bloody urine?
  • Did you know that the EX-grenades actually have unique functions depending on the variations? If you're like me, who never used it, you'd be surprised to discover that it doesn't actually hurt the BTs, but actually can lead them both to and from the spot of impact while sneaking around in BT territory? Some of these can also mark BTs, so that you can see them while not concentrating on them.
  • Did you know that you can hide from BTs if they know you are around? After triggering a BT (signified by the BT turning into things that shoot up from the ground), you can crouch and hold your breath while waiting for it to pass you. You can see it has passed you when the spikes that shoot up from the ground (as well as the large fingerprints they leave behind) has, well, walked past you. However, for this to work, you would have to trigger them stealthy, not like our next example.
  • Did you know that you can eliminate BTs without cutting their cord? If you have a gun that shoots hematic rounds, you can attempt to riddle the BT full with them, which would kill most BTs before they have the chance to get to you?
  • Did you know that this is literally what the Anti-BT Handgun was made for? While it is ineffective against most BT boss battles compared to other weapons, it was actually made so you could kill BTs while sneaking around in BT territory, where a full charge would be enough to kill most BTs in one shot.
  • You probably knew that there are different sizes for BTs, but did you also know that there are baby BTs? While these are small, they are also very easily disposed off.
  • Did you know that, while using Vog-Emitting Decoy Cargo would incapacitate/knock out human enemies, having leaking vog cargo would kill them?
  • Did you know that, in addition to the crater lake and cremation centre, you can also dispose off cargo at the tar lake?
