If Morgan never left the main show, The Walking Dead franchise would be in a much better place-UNR

If Lennie James was never made to leave The Walking Dead show as Morgan then that would've allowed three things to happen;

1.) From Season Nine onwards, Morgan could've replaced Rick as the Main Protagonist and Lead of The Walking Dead. Regardless of your opinions on the characters, Lennie James is by far a stronger and more accomplished actor than Norman Reedus and would've been much more capable of carrying the show as the new lead. Without Andrew Lincoln or Chandler Riggs, Lennie James was also the last actor from the original Pilot episode, and having him be the new lead protagonist would've kept a connection to the original episode.

2.) Morgan's son Duane could've been brought back and reintroduced with the Whisperers. I know it was previously established both in the comics and the show that Duane Jones is dead and that his undead mother bit him, leading him to turn. However we never actually see it happen onscreen, Morgan was in a complete mental trance when he spoke of the event and further spoke about seeing 'people wearing dead faces.' It would've been a believable retcon and great twist to reveal that the Whisperers were operating as early as Season Three of the show and had actually abducted Duane Jones, then indoctrinated him into their cult. Bringing Duane back as a further connection to the pilot and an original Season One character would've been great for ratings.

3.) Finally, by not having Morgan go over to Fear, Fear would've remained a prequel to the main show, the actor who played Nick would never have left and Fear's showrunners would've continued with their original plans for the show. Even if Scott Gimple and other executive producers wanted a 'crossover character' on Fear, they could've just had Abraham on Fear in the prequel since he lived in Houston Texas at the start of the apocalypse which is where the Fear gang were headed for at the end of Season Three.

In conclusion, if Morgan stayed on the main show, we'd still have a strong lead on The Walking Dead, the possibility of a returning character that would've made a great story twist, Fear would've remained a prequel and a much better show than what it currently is, Nick would still be alive and even Abraham could have appeared again in the prequel.

If AMC were further worried about where they could bring back Dwight, they could either have reintroduced him in The Walking Dead movies with Rick Grimes or given Lauren Cohan her own spinoff show as Maggie with Austin Amelio starring as Dwight.
