Pretty much as the title says. In my opinion many actors which are popular are because of their charisma, not their talent. Now i know that if an actor has talent is very much dependend on ones own opinion, so feel free to disagree but don't get your torches because i dislike the acting capabilities of your favourite actor.
Here are some of my examples.
- Keanu Reeves.
Now although i probably lost you already hear me out. Keanu Reeves is a awesome guy, you only hear positive storys of people who worked with him so obviously that makes him sympathetic i get that. However just because he has a great personality doesn't mean he is a good actor. I have seen John Wick and played Cyberpunk and the latter made me think because i honestly didn't like his performance as Johnny Silverhand. Then i saw John Whick again and thats when i realized that Keanu only works when he can play the "stoic guy with the dark backstory who doesn't talk much" character, anything else and he falls flat in my opinion.
- Norman Reedus.
Again a cool guy that much is obvious, but just like Keanu he just works if he is given a role where he can be the badass who doesn't talk much, anything else and he isn't really a stand out.
- Dwayne Johnson
Yes he is a cool guy as well, but he is the epidome of the marketable face, where you can put him with any other well liked star and the movies are likely to be sucessfull.
These are just some examples there are more, but i feel like the post is already long enough.
