You Should Play - Death Stranding (in-depth review and FAQ answers from a fellow gamer like you and not a pro critic)-UNR
With the director's cut version of the game set to release today on Steam, i believe there cannot be a better time to do an "on point" write up about this game. Also since most people prefer a video format as opposed to a text format, you can just watch skill up's review of the game instead of my opinion post but do know that skill up is a critic and I'm just your average avid gamer on the subreddit so my perspective is closer to that of the audience.
I'll just get straight to the point with the 2 most frequently asked questions in the indian community when it comes to death stranding because doesn't matter how many copies this game has sold outside of India, in our community it's still a niche by appearance.
Question : "Isn't death stranding a walking simulator? i prefer action games instead of walking sims so why should i play it"
Answer : Categorising DS as a walking sim is not completely wrong but this lacks context. it's basically tearing down a game to one of its components and then only talking about that component as a running joke. you can generalise any game that exists in 2-3 words. example - if i say red dead redemption 2 is a third person movie, will that define the game? If i said Tomb raider is a climb & shoot simulator or if i said that yakuza is a run & button masher, would that define it? NO it wouldn't because all these games are so much more than that. video games are experience that you can never sell in two or three words unless the game is proper horseshit. When you do a fetch quest in any open world game, you pick that item and deliver it to some xyz place. In DS, you do the same but it's not boring because the game uses all its depth to make you feel the beauty of the delivery in a harsh world. It's about the journey not the goal
By its genre, death stranding is open world + action + walking/driving/hiking sim + sci-fi + survival horror and stealth. A mixture of different genres make DS what it is. There's a BT boss fight every 100 meters if you want the game to be a constant action fest but making your way through those BT's with your delivery intact without alerting, is a far better and rewarding feeling than taking the fight (even though there's a shit ton of weapons & grenades at your disposal by the time you're midway of the game). I'll go into more details in the next big question but if i have to be precise to casual players, the game picks up pace in terms of action from chapter 3
Question "So why should i play DS. the game looks weird to me and so does the story. i love open world games filled with a lot of NPC's and a linear storytelling. What's the selling point of this game"
Answer : DS implements open world like no other. It's not only unique, it eliminates the problem of open world bloat that is plaguing video games these days. The environment in death stranding is ALIVE. it's not just there to serve the purpose of good visuals. Every rock, every slope, terrain, every mountain has an impact and purpose. You won't trigger a set of automatic parkour animations to cross these. You have to respect the environment for what it is and when you finally learn how to do this, the game's rewarding factor sets in making it so much fun.
The thing about Death stranding having a completely different and great open world is not even my personal opinion but something that has resonated with a lot of people. here's two articles that explain this better than my words and in more detail
Around the first 15 minutes of the game itself when the music kicks in with track "don't be so serious" (as if the game is telling you to relax yourself from constant action games and take it slow) with a eye catching waterfall scenery nearby that introduces you to a melancholic post apocalyptic world, it all makes up for an unforgettable moment and it's not even a cutscene filled with NPC's or wildlife. The amazing soundtrack of the game delivers and the stunning graphics or details are breathtaking. But I'm not here to talk about surface level things like soundtrack or graphics. I'm talking about how this game creates a memorable experience for anyone who gives it time.
The social strand system and being connected to the other players was something i thought would be similar to dark souls. but this was so much more and so much better. it felt so immersive. that there's other porters out there. delivering what you couldn't deliver, building and their structures will show up in your game. to help you, to warn you of dangers, to like your structures similarly like social media and give you a boost. There's always good people somewhere at the end of the day the system is so simple and yet it left me in more awe than co-op system of other games. as the game progresses, you'll witness the map around you changing to something that looks different from when you started out your journey. The UI of the game will be overwhelming to you at start but as you progress, it's actually really helpful. Also it helps in setting that authentic sci-fi feeling
See, i do not play racing or simulation games these days. i used to play roller coaster tycoon or NFS as a kid, played forza when i grew up and that's about it. and yet here i was, not caring about main story and doing side quests for HOURS just delivering. That's how immersive this game was. Like skill up says in his review, you won't feel like you have a controller or keyboard but instead you'll feel like you're in the game itself
The cast performance is incredible. i went in expecting only Norman Reedus and Mads Mikkelsen to have great performances and i was surprised by how brilliantly the rest of the cast delivers the story even with a complex narrative that will weird out a lot of people. The game won best direction award at 2019 game awards along with best soundtrack and Mads won best performance award.
As far as directors cut version of the game is concerned, all owners of the version on console (as it was released earlier on console) and as well as all reviewers have greatly recommended it. here's an article if you want to know in detail what it has. It adds a lot of fun elements and makes the journey more comfortable.

TLDR - as years are passing, you're gonna get tens of games like grand theft auto or forza or skyrim or horizon. But you're only gonna get 1 Death stranding. It's a unique game that will stay with you once you're done with it. whether the story leaves you in an emotional (episode 14) or confusing mess, the game is worth it. This is not a cash grab or rushed game. Kojima could have made just some simple third person shooter to rake in money but he went out of his way to make DS because he wanted to do something completely different and he achieved it. It's a game ahead of its time like the first metal gear solid back in 1998 and like that game too, DS will age like wine

silent Hill pt is actually a prequel to silent Hill 4-UNR
I think silent Hill pt was meant to be a prequel story the reason I think this is that the main antagonist of silent Hill 4 Walter is said to be abandoned by his parents and left in room 302 with his umbilical cord out but I believe we already know who's Walters parents are they are the ones we meet in silent Hill pt we're we hear what really happened to them his father murdered the mother and cut out Walter leaving them both for dead you can also see at the end of pt Norman Reedus walking through an apart meant district sort of like the ones we see in silent Hill 4 the room. There is also other things like a screen pops up in pt and it says J contact me there is actually a character named Joseph silent Hill 4 his nickname was J as well he was the previous owner of room 302 before he moved in room 302 he was actually investigating a family were there son was supposedly kidnapped by a cult there is also things like the bathroom in the game having the same sound effects as the one in silent Hill 4 not to mention at the end when the baby starts talking it's saying it bringing new toys with him if you played silent Hill 4 room then you already know about creepy toys watching you. Not to mention the us peeping in bathrooms a mechanic found in silent Hill 4 but the biggest thing I get from this is that at the end we see Norman Reedus walking through the town it looks almost like the row of apartments we see in silent Hill 4 my guess is that pt was actually meant to stand for prequel trailer but they thought it would give it away to much info so they changed it to playable trailer also keep in mind the game is named silent Hill no numbers or anything this might all be speculative but I needed to share this.

The main problem people have is exactly this. We're so used to immediate pay off in everything we do, games included.
I've had friends tell me if a game doesn't hook them in 15 minutes, they're done. It takes hours to get into this game. Patience is truly a virtue. This game has a very long prologue which also acts as a tutorial of sorts.
The story is weird but really can make you think. The gameplay is fun...more than a walking simulator. It can creep you out, make you care, make you cringe.
To be honest, you have to persevere through some not so good things to find the gem underneath. There are fails in the game, ultra long cutscene narratives and other things that I've never wanted to see in a game...involving grenades made from bodily excretions.
There are a lot of repetitive NPC dialogues and inconsistent ways to skip these things.
The game is a fetch quest but with true consequences. Your inventory matters unlike some games where you can carry a ton of stuff that is never visible and may at worst slow you down.
Online play is amazing. You never see other players but you experience their impact and this is a lot of fun.

one thing that really surprised me was discovering this is an open world type of game. it's also worth noting this game is like a marathon. it’s not a quick 15 hour play and finish. it took me just under 60 hours, and that was without doing the side missions. only a small handful as they consume lots of time just as the regular missions do.
this game seemed like it would never end at times. i understand why there are many negative reviews about it. it's not for everyone. it has very long and complex story with some bizarre and interesting twists. i will say, however, that everyone who gave up on this game and did not finish missed out on the very long and crazy finish🤯
final thoughts: if you are looking for something different, then perhaps give this a try. for me, it’s the definition of something that is not what you may have expected it to be, but very rewarding in a way of when expectation does not meet desire. it's like one of those really long movies that's kind of boring in the beginning, even weird, and gets even weirder as it progresses, leaving you in a little bit of shock in the end.
i give it 4 stars overall for all of the time and effort put into the creation and story telling. i can tell a lot of work went into creating this one. but it's more like between 3 1/2 to 4 1/2 stars considering all of the agony i went through in the beginning to get to the twisted ending. the battle scenes kind of make up for it though lol😁
one more thing, i really liked the online connection to other players. i thought that part was pretty cool.

Behind the Mask: Cory Hamilton Uses RZ Mask for Woodworking-UNR
Our next Behind the Mask features the story of Cory Hamilton, woodworking artist and power sports enthusiast. Since a young age, Cory spent his time in his father’s workshop learning and watching him blend architecture and design to create custom woodwork for high end homes and commercial buildings. Today he creates furniture and sculptures for clients all over the country, including some notable celebrities like The Rock, Jason Momoa, Norman Reedus and most recently, Joe Rogan.
Q: Tell us about your business.
A: Prior to starting Cory Hamilton Design in 2012, I spent 15 years at my dad’s construction company learning about carpentry, concrete, faux finishing techniques on furniture and interior/exterior walls. I designed and made custom furniture and art on the side until 2017, when I stepped away to pursue my own business. Now I focus solely on sculptures, custom furniture and painting from my newly built shop and studio named “The Wood Lab.”
Q: What do you love about your craft?
A: I love being creative every day and seeing my business evolve into something that I used to dream about. My goal in high school was to create custom art for celebrities, athletes and musicians that inspired me and now each year, the list of celebrities I’ve worked with continues to grow. In turn, this helps promote my work and allows me to keep doing what I love.

Q: When do you wear an RZ dust mask for woodworking?
A: I wear an RZ Mask for wood sculpting and working on furniture, which is most of the work day. I know fine dust can be dangerous to your lungs and body, so I always make sure to wear a filtration dust mask so I can continue to do this as long as possible.
Q: What do you like about the RZ Mask?
A: I’ve been wearing an RZ Mask daily for almost three years. I love how comfortable the RZ M2 Mesh Mask is for long periods of time - and they look good as well.
Q: What are your top 5 tools?
A: My top 5 tools to get the job done are a chainsaw, angle grinders (with Saburrtooth wood carving discs), Dremel power carvers, chop saw and a jigsaw. If I could fit one more, I’d include the hand tools I use like rasps and files.
Q: We know you like to both work and play hard. Where did your love for off-roading come from?
A: My love for off-roading came from being born and raised in the desert. I grew up on ten acres of land where we had motocross tracks and free riding trails all over. We also lived on dirt roads, so hopping on a dirt bike and taking off into the hills was very easy to do. There is something exhilarating that comes with off-roading that I feel is beneficial to your mental health, it’s a temporary release from work and things that tie up your mind. If I start to get into a funk, my wife will tell me to go ride. I’ve even created art for a handful of the top motocross athletes in the world, who I’ve looked up to since I was a kid.
Q: Do you wear a dust mask while off-roading?
A: My wife and I do wear the RZ Mask when off-roading in our Polaris Razor side by side. It’s extremely dry and dusty in California and can get uncomfortable quickly without proper dust protection.
Q: Where are some places you’ve been off-roading?
A: Some of my favorite places to off-road include Joshua Tree, CA, the dirt roads for the Baja 1000 in San Felipe, the Imperial Sand Dunes, the hiking trails around Mammoth Lakes, CA and Salmon, ID.
Q: If you had a daily mantra, what would it be?A: My daily mantra is to get out there and chase your dreams because they won’t chase you back!

Fan Cast: Norman Reedus as the Spirit of Vengence....?-UNR
My take on why Abandoned = Silent Hill from Kojima-UNR
I've been following this pretty closely since it all started, and here so far is my take on whether or not Abandoned is actually Silent Hills from Kojima.
First, years ago, Kojima teases MGSV with a fake studio (Moby Dick) and claimed to be a fake dev. We saw EXACTLY the same play with PT when it first came out - fake studio, fake devs, even putting out red flags to make it look like it was all a load of absolute nonsense.
So assuming that this is actually attempt #3 from Kojima, he's going to try and make it MUCH more difficult for us so people don't immediately find out - things like creating a deepfake of a developer to make it seem more legit (we know the tech is there and he's mentioned deepfakes in past tweets before any of this started), hell, how about creating a game studio with a history of constantly failing to deliver projects which no-one has ever heard of until they start searching? Just launch a series of kickstarters and close them down. Quite a ruse right?
We then hear about this Abandoned game, from a developer with no successful history. The trailer gets released, and we notice in the trailer, 2 letters are missing off some text on a wall - PT
I'm not gonna go into the delays/misinformation etc. (but misinformation again is something Kojima has continuously tweeted about), but it's the first of it's kind to get a dedicated app on PS5 - this was before even the Unreal 5 Matrix tech app came out.
Sony were completely silent on the whole thing - how did the app get through approval if this has literally never been done before, by some tiny studio no-one even knew existed? (Because Sony are directly involved with all of this and know EXACTLY what the plan is).
A couple of weeks before the app gets it's first content (yes, music over the 6 sec footstep vid), Kojima tweets out that he's just finished editing the shortest game trailer he's ever done in his life. Days later, we get a Death Stranding Directors cut reveal with new added gameplay.
There are two things of note that were added which link us back to previous Kojima tricks and PT:
First, we have a shower scene with what looks eerily similar to the ghost of Lisa discontorted.
Second, and perhaps more importantly is a link to a trick used for MGSV, and 2 links to PT - the scene where Norman Reedus sees the big whale (Moby Dick). So Kojima is referring back to when he created a fake studio to promote MGSV, but not only that, we hear the sound from PT when Lisa is breathing down your neck.
We also have the head in the bag from P.T. The Bag mentions that "he" sees another "him" that isn't actually "himself". In PT, this relates to the theme about multiple parallel universes (which we also have in Death Stranding). Evidence to this possibility is later shown in his next quote: "Watch out. The gap in the door... It's a separate reality. The only me is me. Are you sure the only you is you?".
This is as Sam Bridges goes through a gap in the doorway, we hear Lisa and we see the reference to Moby Dick studios.
So let's assume for a sec that actually, "Sam" has passed through into a seperate reality. The Norman Reedus we know in Death Stranding and that particular cut scene isn't actually the only one of him. There can be multiple parallel universes, with multiple Norman Reedus's. However..... in another universe, Norman Reedus doesn't look like Sam Bridges.
And here is where my theory is going to become speculative and absolutely mental....
What if these universes were actually all different games? All done by studios with no previous track records, no dev presence, but with imagery, themes, hell even actual content which crosses over several games?
Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you (and i'm not making the name of this game up and the caps are part of the title)..
WRONGED US
WRONGED US is an upcoming open world survival horror game from indie studio called "Delusional Studio". Set for release in 2023, trailers of this game have recently dropped on Youtube.
There's absolutely zero information online about this studio, anyone who works there, or any company history.
Now why do I think this links to Abandoned?
First off, the meta joke within the title of these games. First off, those of us who have been following this all along have been left "Abandoned". We've been left hanging out to dry with failure after failure to the point where we feel we have been wronged. Hence - WRONGED US.
Second, the title. When abandoned was released - it was all caps ABANDONED.
Now we have a game WRONGED US.
Third - the font for the title is EXACTLY the same as Abandoned (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YONakVv3mSY)
Now what if there was a game linking us from WRONGED US back to Abandoned? And what if these 3 games shared the same assets?

My favorite Silent Hills Theory-UNR
Always Nerdy has a few videos on YouTube around PT and Silent Hills. One video highlights some theories, and my favorite is that Norman Reedus’ character is a detective (he jokingly points out the “cool guy theater jacket detective”) in Silent Hill, and he’s actually experiencing several Otherworlds. Hence the title being plural. Even though PT states it isn’t reflective of the actual game, PT could be either Lisa or her husband’s Otherworld. It also makes sense why the Silent Hills concept trailer seems vastly different than what we saw in PT.
To me it’s the one that makes the most sense. Maybe one day we’ll know. Do we have any concrete evidence on anything about what the game was going to be about? I know Alanah Pearce said that the game was going to break the fourth wall, sending you texts and emails. Not sure what else we (me) know.

For a lot of you that's Death Stranding 2 which in my opinion would be awful.
We all know what Kojima is known for and it certainly isn't that.
Why am I upset about Death Stranding? Because he was working with Guillermo Del Toro to make a new Silent Hill. With Norman Reedus even.
And guess what? He still could have done that. He had Norman Reedus, he has his own studio... It was obvious to change the name and make your own horror game. With everything the way you wanted.
And what did he do instead he makes a fucking delivery game that nobody asked for with Norman Reedus. Yeah, that's smart...
And some of you want a sequel to this. What a serious waste of his talent.
It's annoying to see him get these artistic awards. Not because Death Stranding sucks or because it isn't artistic, but because his previous games were FAR more artistic.
He can do way better than this.
And I hope he does.
What I will say is that I know he's been wanting to make his own game for a while. His own choice. If this was what that was, then so be it. He is a man who is free.
But I hope this got it out of his system and I hope he makes better stuff than this now. I hope this was the trial run. Not the masterpiece.

Why does Sam have two different voice actors?-UNR
So I just started playing the game, the Director's Cut, and I noticed that when you press the right side of the touch pad, Sam yells out (something like "Hello", "Anybody Hear Me?" "Name's Sam") and it's clearly not Norman Reedus saying these lines. Is there a reason why this is?

So if you dont know what PT is, it was a game demo that launched in 2014 in ps4 store by Hideo Kojima which included Norman Reedus and Gullimero Del Toro. I found a PC version which is fan-made but its exactly like the same game. Same visuals and everything except the last photo piece isnt in the menu. The fan made version "Unreal P.T." Was originally uploaded by Radius Gordello but he took it down. How I, a bad writer, would write Norman Reedus as Scarecrow for the Batman sequel (Fanmade idea)-UNR
Movie begins with covid era. Yes, covid does exist in Gotham. You'll see people coughing and barfing. The Mayor of Gotham then announces the existence of Covid 19, camera then fades to night time. Now this is where they introduce scarecrow, somewhere within the alleys of Gotham, you'll see a shadowy figured man with 3 large cylinder tanks of toxic gas, looking dark purple in colour. He proceeds to inject the toxic chemical into a tied up hostage. That hostage proceeds to hallucinate, shouting screaming, we as the audience, do not know what he is fearful about, but we however got some sort of idea who the villain is through the hints given. Next camera shot would be the guy releasing into the public, standing in Gotham's subway, coughing and coughing, until he spreads the virus that Scarecrow man made himself. This would create a problem in Gotham, trying to conquer a current pandemic virus while also having to tackle Scarecrow's toxic gas spreading around, with people unable to differentiate the two as both have the same symptoms for the transmission of the viruses. Batman would then have to get to the bottom of this, finding side characters such as Professor Pyg, who's connected to the virus that Scarecrow made since some of the DNA found from the meat is also found to be the same chemical substance that is of the Scarecrow's manmade virus.

The problem with Lincoln.-UNR
I like the show a lot, prefer the comics more, but the show is still very good. I’m almost on season 4, started on Friday. Even though there are some characters that REALLY get on my nerves (Lori, Carl, Andrea) I still feel that they were cast perfectly and the actors do a fantastic job of portraying what the director had in mind. The likes of Jeffrey DeMunn as Dale I mean he does an otherwise relatively insignificant character real justice and I loved him on the show. Same with Danai Gurira, Norman Reedus and Scott Wilson (RIP). I feel like the one glaring mistake made in the casting department was the shows main character - Andrew Lincoln as Rick. I just really don’t feel that “thing”.. whatever it is that makes us gravitate to our favourite main characters in any show/film. I find it hard to take him seriously in the “leader” role. I’m not sure I’m conveying my thoughts through words in a convincing manner. I just feel like he’s the only let down casting wise on the entire show. To be clear - I am not criticising Andrew Lincoln the actor. I just believe the role of Rick should have been better cast. Maybe it’s because he reminds me of an older version of the SAW guy Tobin Bell. I don’t know, I just don’t get it

And that’s just one reminiscent story from the Bruce Campbell school of autobiographies.
In this one, we learn what made Bruce... well, Bruce.
If you haven’t bought his first book, “If chins could kill...” get that as well.
His down to earth style of writing and the fact that he narrated both of them on audible is worth every penny.

A late-comer's in deapth discussion regarding Daryl Dixon's sexuality.-UNR
So I just started watching the Walking Dead after having been on a sort of hiatus (if that is the correct term that I am looking for) since season 6. As of now, I am nearing the end of what is on Netflix as of the moment and have been enjoying the friendship shown between Daryl and Carol. This being said, I began to wonder about his many possible love interests that were presented throughout the show's entirety and how they kept pushing him down the path of "40 year old virgin" status (which I have nothing against as one of my heterosexual guy friends is in his late 30s and proudly retains his vCard). Still, I couldn't help wonder who could have made a cute ship with him if it had not been for their untimely deaths, disappearances, or them just wanting to be friends (i.e. Carol as I could see them making a cute and wholesome couple in an alternate universe). Anyhow, as my curiosity grew, I did a quick search and saw that many people had thought he was gay, asexual, etc., and that Norman Reedus said that if that was the path the creators would go down, he would fulfill the role and while the creators did say that he is in fact heterosexual, they did say he was "somewhat" asexual which could actually be seen as him leaning towards a more hetero-demisexual idea rather than asexual as demisexuals do not have sex unless they love the person they are with and have no desire for sexual relationships outside of that. There is also a difference between aromantic and asexual, so again, this could also state, with whomever may be his future (or current since I am behind) love interest, he may share some longing feelings of romance for a person rather than a sexual one thus leaning on the creator saying he is hetero and partially asexual.
In conclusion, Daryl Dixon could fall between: A) Hetero-romantic and Asexual B) Hetero-Demisexual C) He just wasn't fully developed mentally prior to the show airing and with the on-going apocalypse always getting in the way, never really having the time to develop in THAT way until later on (sort of like when you are in a traumatic situation and have no time to feel other emotions outside of being in survival mode and stuff until you are away from it).
