I know what y'all thinking, but please give me the chance to explain.
So in Death Stranding, much like in other games, you have your "life bar", which goes down from right to left as you get hurt. Except when you "die" you dont. Instead a new bar starts growing to the other side.
What this bar represents isnt your health, but your "lifetime", when you are hit by the Timefall Rain, you become older and older, up until you die of old age, when you die you are taken to the other side and, as a baby, you start your life over. But since you're a baby, you have to be taken care of by another player.
Babies cannot stay outside of their capsules (maybe until they are older or by using some suit/hoodie/space suit) this is why in the first trailer Reedus cries because he knows the baby is going to die with no Womb Capsule, the baby dies and thus dissapears (it's taken to the other side). I think when a baby is inside the Womb he/she can function as an antenna or become exposed to the rain in order to get older and play a different role.
The story includes these Alien Giant Hands Strands things, which can control gravity towards/into them (as well as floating/dissapear and maybe even timetravel). And (as in Neon Genesis Evangelion) if a human enters/touches these things, an explosion/big bang/3rd impact occurs (this is why Normans teammate would rather kill himself with a gun or even stabbing himself to jump to the other side as long as he isnt pulled into the blackhole, he fails and you know what happens).
I believe Norman is different from the rest as he isnt pulled by gravity or affected by the rain that much, i think he can also see/percieve/bring things from one side to the other.
What are your thoughts? I saw all three trailers last night and came up with this gameplay hypotesis. It does makes sense to me :) im also pretty sure this game will have a story mode and a multiplayer mode, they might be linked together as in Dark Souls, or be independent experiences as in, say Battlefield.
