First of all, I want to apologize. This theory doesn't explain everything. It just hits most of things that we've seen up to this point.

Now then....

Death Stranding is all about the life of Norman-fucking Reedus. It's actually a slice-of-life game putting the player in the shoes of Norman, back when he did drugs.

Let me explain the third trailer.

It's a dream sequence after Norman briefly loses consciousness during a really bad trip.

Lets review the evidence, shall we?

Norman's car crash. Notice that the land is nearly flat, yet Norman managed to crash what appears to be an all-terrain vehicle. Pretty hard unless you're high on drugs.

Magic rain which ages both plants and men at an accelerated pace. Drugs age you fast. It fits.

Orange jump suit guy and trapped guy. Norman's drug pals. They're all tripping together.

The five floating beings who surround Norman. Notice how they always seem to track Norman in every trailer and every promotional piece? They're relentless. They know no mercy. You know what also tracks you everywhere, relentlessly, without mercy? That's right. Ex-girlfriends.

The names of the five floating beings are actually Emily, Cecilia, Glenn, Laurie, and Cheryl. They're old flames from the past who haunt Norman, everywhere he goes. It fits perfectly.

Let's keep going.

Invisible monsters which leave handprints everywhere. They're actually the cops who are searching for Norman. For illegal drug possession. You know. They break into his house when he's out and search his place, but Norman knows how to hide the good stuff. Hence why the monsters never end up detecting Norman. Think about it!

Things go to shit and both of Norman's buds get dragged away. Norman fears losing his buds. Drugs destroy friendships, in the same way that the goo tentacles destroy his friends. It represents his fear. He is powerless to stop drug overdoses from taking his friends, one by one.

Mads Mikkelsen floats down from the sky. I'm pretty sure Mads is actually Norman's inner conscience. This is because it seems like only Norman can see him. He's warning Norman. That's why Mads seems to be pointing to Norman's friend who's about to die. Mads is saying: "Reeeeeduuuus! It could be you next time. Check yourself before you wreck yourself. Mads out!"

Giant dude who explodes. Notice that the explosion originates from The Giant's head? Its mind is literally blown. You know what also blows your mind? Drugs. I assert that Norman's friend has taken so many drugs that 70% of his body is made of drugs, just like how 70% of Kojima's body is made of movies. The Giant eats Norman's friend and its mind literally explodes, because of how big of a drug dose it just had.

Lets keep going. Norman is wiped out in the explosion and wakes up underwater.

The water is just a visual way of showing that Norman has no sense of balance, due to drugs. More interesting is that the water is full of bodies. I'm pretty sure they represent the numerous near-death experiences that Norman had in the past. One body is one near-death experience. That, or he's just tripping like crazy.

Flying tentacle monster. That's just straight-up drugs, man. Nothing more needs be said.

Next, Norman wakes up on dry land.

He wakes up in a strange place. It's very common to wake up in strange places after doing drugs.

Floating tardigrade puke. Notice that Norman seems to feel better after puking the tardigrade puke. It's because after you puke, you usually feel better. They're tardigrades because tardigrades are super fucking cool and Norman is pretty cool guy - he doesn't afraid of anything. (Openly, that is. Inside, he fears losing control of his body.)

The most interesting part of the trailer is the baby. I'm still undecided on the meaning of the baby. It could represent Norman's hope of breaking his drug habit. Hence why his friend throws him the baby. It's as if his friend tells him. "You still have hope. You can break the habit. Watch what happens if you don't. (DEATH)".

It could also represent Norman's innocence. Hence why his ex-girlfriends seem to be following him around. Maybe they want to destroy both him and his innocence. It could also represent other things, like his soul, his ability to come back from crazy trips (feeling fine the morning after), or his past. The baby appears inside Norman, so it seems to be a "part" of him. I'd love to hear thoughts about this.

On a final note, notice that Norman wakes up by a desolate crater. He's alone, except for the floating ex-girlfriends. I think the crater represents his personal life, which has been destroyed by his ex-girlfriends and drug use. It fits perfectly.

I'm 22, Serbian (with a weirdly american accent)

Recently noticed I have a severe lack of people in my life who share my passion for gaming or geekdom in general.

I'm mostly looking for people who are interested in talking about games, video game narratives, gaming news and someone who's just generally a geek that loves comics, tv, movies, etc..

I'm not really into competitive multiplayer and MMO's as I dislike the fact that they require a lot of investment, which would take me away from enjoying other, potentially even better games. My bread and butter are narrative and action rpg games. However I LOVE co-op. Some of my favorites include Splinter Cell: Blacklist, Borderlands 2, Magicka, Human Fall Flat, Saints Row The Third / IV , Dying Light, Battleblock Theater, Portal 2.

I have a PC, and a PS4.

One thing that I feel I should mention. Since I live in a rather poor country, I sometimes can't afford some games, so I tend to pursue... shiftier ways of gaming.

I'm not saying it's right, but if you if that's a dealbreaker for you, there you go. If there's a multiplayer game that you want us to play, and it's truly worth the money I'll make the effort to save up and buy it.

Best case scenario is a bunch of people reply to this thread and we can make a discord channel where we can all hang out whenever.

And as a final note: In case I come off as bit serious and boring, I'd like to make clear that I will shitpost horrible memes whenever I get the chance. I'll get a chuckle out of anyone who makes fun of Kojima's Norman Reedus and the Fetus Deletus game.

Konami is saving the Metal Gear franchise after it got raped by the egotastical japanese pedophile Hideo Kojima, I mean all the MGS games were shit because of him and here are the reasons:

Metal Gear Solid: Has bad textures, writing and graphics making it immediately a bad game.

Metal Gear Solid 2: Bad writing and story trying to sound philosophical and smart, too many cutscenes, "meta narrative" who gives a shit? and replaced Snake with a virgin Gray Fox!

Metal Gear Solid 3: Would have actually been a good game if The End boss fight didn't last for 12 hours.

Metal Gear Solid 4: After all the talk with defying fan expectations and taking risks that might piss of the fanboys, Kojima pussied out and created a game made out of pure fanservice and just because of death threats that didn't even follow through! Also it's a movie, not a video game.

Metal Gear Solid Peace Walker: It's on the PSP why the fuck would anyone even play it?

Metal Gear Solid V Ground Zeroes: Kojima sold this for $40 and it only lasted 6 minutes, probably did it to pay his rent.

Metal Gear Solid V Phantom Pain: Kojima thought it would be cool tackling dark subjects like "little African soldiers" "Ebola worms" and "rape" and all he did was make a game that was trying too hard to be edgy and lacked self awareness, everyone is super serious now all the time. Actual game is boring since all the missions are the same, on the same map, with the same boss fights. 

Now that Kojima is gone for good, currently raping Norman Reedus, Konami can now make a game that has a actual straightforward plot so all the fanboys don't try to kill each other because they can't agree on if Big Boss senpai was actually evil all along, Metal Gear Survive will be our savior, it's like all the steam early access survival games but it actually passed the early access stage! It also has zombies which is good (The Last of Us had zombies and that was a masterpiece) and it's less than $60 which is a steal. #FuckKojima!

Thanks to the split between Death Stranding director Hideo Kojima and Konami, it's unlikely that the legendary game developer will ever make another Metal Gear Solid game again.

While Kojima himself won't have the opportunity to work on a new Metal Gear Solid game that doesn't appear to have stopped him from including a character from the franchise in Death Stranding.

After analyzing the new Death Stranding trailer from The Game Awards, a number of eagle-eyed fans have pointed out the silhouette of what appears to be none other than recurring Metal Gear Solid villain Psycho Mantis.

Konami owns the rights to the Metal Gear Solid franchise, so it's highly unlikely that Kojima will include any characters from the franchise in the final version of Death Stranding.

The supernatural enemies that have been seen in some of Death Stranding's trailers are somewhat reminiscent of Psycho Mantis in the way they float above Norman Reedus, and so maybe fans are seeing one of them in the trailer instead of the famous Metal Gear Solid baddie.

As unlikely as it is that Death Stranding would feature any Metal Gear Solid characters, anything is possible with Kojima, and the conspiracy theories surrounding his new game will likely continue in the months leading up to its release.

I've been wondering. So far, I have seen reactions to Carl's death from Andy, Chandler, Lennie, and Gimple. They are quite typical in their expressions of shock and grief, as we would expect. But what I haven't seen are reactions from other key members of the show.

Norman Reedus. Melissa McBride. Lauren Cohen. Danai Gurira. What about Katelyn Nacon, who plays Enid, a possible love interest for Carl which was hinted at in past episodes. Why hasn't anybody asked her about how Carl's death would affect her character? And what about Kirkman? I get there is some distance between him and the show, but nobody has bothered asking him about his thoughts?

It just seems really odd to me that such a significant death wouldn't warrant any statement, even a sentence, from those people.

Was Kojima photoscanned twice or is he lying about Ludens?-UNR

Hi. In the San Diego Comic Con 2016 video about the creation of KJP mascot and logo, Geoff asked Hideo about the face of Ludens statue. You can check it out at Yong's YT channel at the 7 minute mark. Here - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AMRNdknnNzI The things that caught my attention are:

1. Geoff is extremely nervous while asking the question. Look at his hand, it's shaking. Not to mention the overexaggerated smile and laughter(He keeps it on the entire time). He knows EXACTLY that it's a touchy subject.

2. Kojima and his English interpreter(I think his name is Enrique. I think that's how Hermen from Guerilla greeted him last year at the Decima panel) are both speaking at the same time, trying to get everything under control, but it clearly looks very unnatural. Hideo is trying to stay cool by telling a funny story about Norman(I think even Reedus doesn't know the truth about Ludens). He looks at his interpreter and smiles, looking for a confirmation so that the story seems believeable.

3. Kojima states that Ludens face is based on a test photoscan of him when he and Mark Cerny visited VASG at his technology tour, but then it was later modified because it was to creepy for him to see. If that's true, then why would he get scanned again for the cameo in the 3rd trailer if they already had his photogrammetry data? It's kind of sketchy to me. Modelling his new glasses to replace his old ones would took just an hour or two. I think they wouldn't even scan him with glasses. That can mess some things with photoscans. It would be completely unnecesary to do it multiple times because afaik only his glasses changed throughout the time.

This is strictly theory, inviting anyone with more insight into this to PLEASE comment below and let me know your thoughts.

In the new trailer with del toro, Del toro has the exact same baby As reedus does when he dies. I only think this is coincidence because when del toro and reedus both are standing they look up and see something, the “creator” . He then appears and the water level starts to rise. This then leads to the inanimate baby doll floating to Madds. Then the baby is awoken. When madds looks down at the INANIMATE object it comes ALIVE. This only leads me to believe that Madds (the antagonist) could potentially use most non-living things as weapons or for any personal gain of his own. This is only one connection of the many that could be made.

The second and the most influential take on the game in my opinion, is when reedus and the man with the baby initially see the stranger appear on top of the bus and point to the creator. The man is shooting the gun, however bullets are doing nothing, then he starts to get pulled from underneath. But this man doesn’t throw reedus the gun for protection. He throws him the baby. A fresh life. A chance to be reborn. Using life and death as a means to (Advance?) in a game. We see Norman die at the end of the flash and then a couple notable things happen. Norman is floating in a body of water, if you pay close attention you can see the handprints from the very first trailer ever shown on his chest and arms. Not as many prints but they are there, and they do Fade into the water as well.

This leads me to my 3rd observation and final. I don’t feel this one is as strong but who knows. Norman has the experience of being imprinted on again by these hands every time he dies and is brought back to life. In the very first trailer Reedus is holding the baby and crying with handprints all over him. He then gets up and looks off into the distance seeing 5 mysterious figures. This is almost word for word the same thing that happens in the second trailer EXCEPT when the camera pans over to reedus we see a door from a car underwater with a web cast over the United States. We also see a spider like creature pass over the top of the water while moving to reedus. Next reedus is then resuscitated while taking a glimpse into his throat and seeing the life he was given be reborn. Last but not least we see another glimpse of the 5 mysterious figures again.

In a interview, Kojima says he wants people to use conventional ways to play video games. He wants players to stop using the “stick” e.g. (Guns. Knives. Fists.) so much, and start using the “rope” e.g. (Planning, Surroundings, Working with teammates, Or simply just solving puzzles with clues.)

The games focus in my opinion and I think we all know is about life and death. You hear the same 3 one liners with different endings of how “life” may have been created. For example “Once there was an explosion, a bang that gave earth to time and space” - Literally, the definition of the Big Bang. The other two can be interpreted different ways but the focus is on the fourth statement. In the beginning, a bang created life. Is the 4th bang supposed to end life? Or are we recreating it?

A couple theories-UNR

A couple of my theories have been confirmed already so I thought maybe a couple more should be thrown out just for the fun of it.

Given that we know there's a "purgatory" kind of dimension that Reedus' character can travel to, it's possible he's the only one or one of the few who are able to do this. It's also possible that the man who is dragged away by the "oil people" in third trailer is the same man who returns almost immediately after, given that he has some of the same equipment and seems to be calm enough about the situation.

I also think that the two dimensions we're aware of in this game (the real world and purgatory) can interact with each other. I think we see handprints from the creatures and their silhouettes not because they're invisible and that's that, but because their world is "underneath" or layered over ours. Others may have said this, I'm not sure.

If that is the case, I think that people appear differently to each other when in the opposing dimension. It's possible that the first trailer and second take place at the same time, as evidenced by the baby disappearing from Reedus' arms just as he appears in del Toro's arms. This makes me think (from the third trailer) that with the baby being inside him and giving us a thumbs up, the baby is what allows anyone to come back from the dead. Hence Reedus' crying that the baby is outside him, signifying his loss of dimension jumping at this point in the story.

And in the third trailer, we see a huge creature with a hand for a head. I think this is representative of Mads in the "real" world, with his soldiers being like his fingers. I can't elaborate too much on that, but going back to the second trailer, the baby doll clearly represents Norman Reedus in some way, as the scar on its stomach matches Reedus' own scar we see in the first trailer.

It's possible that Mads smiles knowing that Reedus' character is currently dead and would have otherwise been a detriment to his character's plans in some way. The baby doll's eyes twitching make me think it's parallel to Reedus' character being in the waking world and the "sleeping" one.

Lastly, the blue-lit handcuffs in someone way represent the controller of the Playstation. I'm not sure how, if any way, this will play into the game but fans of Metal Gear Solid (specifically 2) might be aware of Kojima's use of handcuffs for characters who are controlled by the player. In MGS2, Raiden has his cuffs cut by a villain for the purpose of fighting. Our character has no choice but to quit the game or do only what it allows us (and our character) to do. But the character of Snake is no longer playable and breaks the handcuffs of his own volition to jump off of a battleship (in a sense) for the purposes of doing things on his own, symbolizing his "break" from the player to become his own character, uncontrolled by us.

I just find it interesting that handcuffs using the unique blue light from the Playstation are used on a character's own handcuffs again, while the soldiers ordered by Mads have their "chords" or "strands" disappear with a flickering orange light that also resembles the orange light a PS controller can emit. I wonder if the controller even being plugged in will somehow affect gameplay.

What if every Player gets two characters? You're own norman reedus dude and a norman reedus baby. But you don't have the norman reedus baby with you. The baby you are carrying is someone else's 2nd Character and your Player-Character-Baby-Version resides with another Player so the community somehow all has to work together, for example we won't be able to complete certain parts or we get a different outcome without Baby-Help because they can see different things. Maybe you can loose your baby? Maybe we can steal each others babies?

Why Death Stranding might be a new horror game franchise-UNR

The latest game to debut from Kojima Productions is Death Stranding, an action game said to be set in an open-world environment.

What we know thus far is that Norman Reedus of Walking Dead fame and Mads Mikkelsen of Hannibal are set to star in yet another stroke of brilliance from legendary game creator Hideo Kojima.

Kojima is most noted for his Metal Gear Solid video games, which are filled to the brim with action, lore and beautiful gameplay. Seriously, if you've never played a Metal Gear title, go check it out.

Anyways, Death Stranding is set to be released in late 2018 or ever 2019.

Initially mentioned at Sony's conference during the E3, 2016 video game exhibition, Death Stranding has recently been sweeping the headlines since a beautiful trailer was displayed during The Game Awards of 2017.

So if Trailer #3 is cronologically the first - does Trailer #1 take place at the very end of the story?-UNR

In Trailer #3, once Sam "respawns", he finds himself back in his suit with the baby canister, right where he died to the explosion (now a crater).

The scene is almost beat-for-beat the same as was shown in Trailer #1 - only there Sam is naked and the Baby has lost its Pod - which causes him a great deal of grief.

It seems like the Baby, having lost its protective shell, is dying, or rather transforming into one of the invisible handprint entities we saw in Trailer #3.

Since we know there is only one Baby, it seems like a pretty pivotal moment in the game. (No more Hazard Palm detector thingy after this point!)

It seems to me that Trailer #1 is either showing the very last portion of the game (not least because I don't see you playing as naked Norman Reedus, MGS2 notwithstanding)...

...or the scene doesn't actually happen like this in the final game. Personally I think Trailer #1 is purely an early mood piece. It hints at the "respawn" mechanic, the handprint "death-counter" on Sams body, the baby and the five mysterious beings. (It doesn't make sense to show the same image of them floating menacingly twice)

So the baby is something like the "only baby born in the world" or "the special baby from person X" and only way to sneak it out or in to somewhere is to put it in the Norman Reedus (I actually had this theory already when I saw the first trailer when I saw the scars on him.)

This is a quote from Kojima in the IGN interview: 'We asked him if the word "Porter"on Sam’s uniform is his last name, or his job.' “There’s some truth to it, and there’s some part that isn’t necessarily true to it,” he responded in the exact way we expected.'

OK, so the definition of porter is: a person hired to carry burdens or baggage, as at a railroad station or a hotel.

A hospital porter is: A hospital porter moves patients, equipment and numerous other medical paraphernalia between the various areas of a hospital. Hospital porters are essential in maintaining the smooth running of a hospital. A significant aspect of the job is patient care.

Sam (Norman Reedus) is a porter, by trade, and that is why the name is on his uniform. BUT, he is also a porter by design. Kojima has said there is something unique about Sam. “Most people in the game are aware of the rain -- and well, Norman is quite unique in this regard… I think I should stop there. I’m spilling the beans.”

I think Sam has the ability to travel between the different dimension or time frames or phases of life/afterlife or whatever it is in this game, and the ability to not be affected by the timefall like everyone else is. And the porter aspect of his character is perfect for transporting babies (whatever they may mean) to and from locations to different locations (dimensions, time frames, worlds, etc.).

How did we beat Psycho Mantis in MGS? We changed ports.
