My coworker is annoying -UNR

https://ift.tt/noDgesV

Omg. First she dismisses me when I talk to her about my interest in motorcycles, norman Reedus, metal, etc etc, making me hate myself and spiral for like a month, but then she expects me to listen to her 24/7 about her stupid interests. She’s so mean to me. She used to be so nice. Idk what happened Then, she just likes to trigger my episodes, maybe she wants me fired or thinks it’s funny She also draws in her stupid journal all day, making me do all the work. JUST STOP!!! You’re so annoying!!! Leave me alone!!! Why are you working year round with me!!!

This probably makes no sense i am sorry

CMV: Video game characters should never be modeled after celebrities.-UNR

https://ift.tt/sF15U4Q

So with technology advancing, we've seen several instances of games getting famous actors to not only voice their characters, but be the visual likeness for the character as well. Examples include Death Stranding, Cyberpunk, Star Wars Jedi Survivior, etc. And I can't help but feel that this practice is only harmful to video games because the immersion will undoubtedly be hindered. Getting sucked into a fantasy world doesn't really work when you're staring at the face of Keanu Reeves, to put it bluntly.

I already forsee a common counterpoint to this being "well movies do it too, so why should it bother you here?" The problem with that logic is that video games as a medium have the power to make the characters look like anything, unlike movies which are stuck with using real people to play the roles completely unless it's an animated movie. There's only so many qualified actors you can use, and this extends to voice acting as well. So really, what's the point in making your character look like Norman Reeds when you can make him look like a completely unique person? There's no real benefit to this outside of a marketing standpoint - the immersion only serves to be damaged and the characters' identities not their own. Sam Bridges is not Sam Bridges. He's Norman Reedus. And there's no reason that has to be the case for a video game.

So to me, this practice of getting celebrities to be the look for your characters is inherently a bad idea. It just doesn't justify itself in this medium in any way, at least not with any artistic integrity. Let video games indulge on their creativity - don't restrict it.

This episode has me cracking up! The acting is so great for everyone. I almost stopped my rewatch-I watched a long time ago and all I remembered is how much it took to get through the Cole story line, it just dragged on. I'm glad I stuck it out because this episode is great. Phoebe is the best but all are doing so good. I've rewound the scene multiple times when they put it together. And I was surprised to see Norman Reedus. As a TWD fan, fun surprise. I'll stick it out now.

Weekend Actuals for August 23-25 – 'Deadpool & Wolverine' Returns to the Top Spot, 'Alien: Romulus' Falls, 'The Crow' Dies-UNR

https://ift.tt/Cox582X

https://preview.redd.it/7n8mojxeg2ld1.png?width=1920&format=png&auto=webp&s=a8ad6f91c46ca953d80ad9b38fdf7f15d03d6d50

In an incredibly weak weekend, Deadpool & Wolverine seized the opportunity to return to the top spot on its fifth weekend. There were three newcomers and there were mixed results; Blink Twice became another Channing Tatum blunder, The Forge performed well, while The Crow unsurprisingly became a feast for crows.

The Top 10 earned a combined $82.5 million this weekend. That's up 5.8% from last year, when Gran Turismo cheated its way to #1.

Deadpool & Wolverine got back to the top spot, dropping just 39% and adding $18.3 million this weekend. With $577.2 million in the bank already, the film is going to close with over $620 million, which is just extraordinary.

Last week's champ Alien: Romulus was more front-loaded than anticipated. The film fell a steep 61% and added $16.3 million. That drop is better than Covenant (70.6%) but is worse than Prometheus (59.4%). That's kinda surprising considering the film's good response so far, but it looks like the franchise has a ceilling. Through ten days, it has amassed $72.8 million, and it has no chance of topping Prometheus ($126.4 million). It will close with over $100 million, but it won't be by much.

Sony's It Ends with Us added $11.6 million this weekend. That marks another rough 51% drop, which suggests the film won't be as leggy as other book adaptations like Where the Crawdads Sing. But the film has made $120.6 million so far, so it's not like it really matters anyway.

In fourth place, Amazon MGM's Blink Twice debuted with $7.3 million in 3,067 theaters. That's not far off from Tatum's previous box office blunder, Fly Me to the Moon, which failed to take off with just $9.4 million just one month ago.

The film cost just $20 million, so it's not a bad debut. But it's not a great one either. Yet it's tough to ask for higher numbers, given that the trailers have been very vague over the film's content, and outside Tatum, the rest of the cast are not box office draws. And even Tatum, as mentioned, has had his share of bombs in the past. Zoë Kravitz, on her directorial debut, is also not a draw either. So it's a film that, at the end of the day, it's doing the best it possibly can.

According to Amazon MGM, 56% of the audience was female and 62% was in the 18-34 demographic. While critics liked the film, the audience didn't feel the same; they gave it a very weak "B–" on CinemaScore. It is reported that audience members felt uncomfortable with the film's surprisingly bleak tone, which might explain it. We'll see how it goes, but so far, we don't have signs of a hit here.

Sony/Affirm's The Forge debuted with $6.6 million in 1,818 theaters. The film cost just $5 million, so it will comfortably be in the green. A massive 80% of the audience was 35 and over. They gave it a strong "A+" on CinemaScore. It should hold well.

Twisters dropped 39% and added $6.1 million. That takes its domestic total to $248.5 million, passing the original Twister's unadjusted gross. If only the foreign performance matched this performance.

In seventh place, Fathom Events' Coraline dipped 49% and added $5 million this weekend. That takes its lifetime total to $106.9 million. In some big news, it officially passed Chicken Run to become the highest grossing stop-motion animated film domestically.

It's not until the eighth spot where we find Lionsgate's The Crow, which flopped with just $4.6 million in 2,752 theaters. For reference, the original Crow debuted with $11.7 million back in 1994, and that's just unadjusted. In fact, the reboot's opening weekend is less than the original's third weekend.

This was one of the easiest flops to predict this summer. There's so many reasons why the film was left to the crows, but there's a big one here: it simply didn't look good. In fact, every single image and trailer of the film looked awful. When you compare it to the original film, it's even worse. The lead character's make-up and design looked incredibly reminiscent of Jared Leto's Joker, which is the worst compliment you can give.

The original Crow attained a cult following, particularly as the film was Brandon Lee's final film due to his tragic death during filming. In the eyes of the public, Brandon Lee is The Crow, making it very difficult for any other actor to take the mantle. Which is why the reboot was stuck in development hell for decades and saw the involvement and subsequent exit of stars like Mark Wahlberg, Bradley Cooper, Channing Tatum, Ryan Gosling, James McAvoy, Tom Hiddleston, Alexander Skarsgård, Luke Evans, Norman Reedus, Jack Huston, Nicholas Hoult, Jack O'Connell, and Jason Momoa.

Now, the public is not aware of production problems, they simply want to watch a film. But the amount of delays suggest there's problems with finding the right script. It didn't fully gain traction till a few years ago, when Bill Skarsgård finally signed. And as proven with Boy Kills World, he is not a big name at the box office. And when you have Rupert Sanders as director, you're set for failure in the reception; it's currently sitting at a poor 19% on Rotten Tomatoes. Combine it with a reboot that no one was really interested, and you've got a flop.

According to Lionsgate, 58% of the audience was male and 58% was in the 18-34 demographic. The audience gave it a poor "B–" on CinemaScore, suggesting very lukewarm word of mouth. With putrid reception, the film is destined to fall quickly. There's a strong chance the film's lifetime gross will be less than the original's opening weekend. Lionsgate won't be hugely affected; they paid $10 million for the film and only spent $15 million on marketing. But they will still lose money on the film.

Universal/Illumination's Despicable Me 4 eased just 32%, grossing $4.2 million. Its domestic total stands at $348.1 million.

Rounding up the Top Ten was Disney/Pixar's Inside Out 2, which dropped 41% and adding $2 million. Its domestic total is now $646.2 million, and it should see a great hold this incoming weekend.

OVERSEAS

Alien: Romulus once again led the box office with $41.6 million overseas, taking its worldwide total to $225.6 million. The big story is China, where it became the second-biggest Hollywood movie in the country this year, behind Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire. In fact, it's already making more money there than in the United States. The best markets are China ($73.3M), UK ($10.7M), Korea ($9.7M), France ($7M) and Mexico ($5.6M).

It Ends with Us added $22.3 million overseas, taking the worldwide total to $242.4 million. Its best markets are the UK ($20.5M), Australia ($11.8M), Mexico ($10.8M), Germany ($9.1M) and Brazil ($8.1M).

Deadpool & Wolverine added $20.2 million, and its worldwide total is now $1.211 billion. The best markets are the UK ($66.6M), China ($58.7M), Mexico ($42.4M), Australia ($38.7M) and Germany ($33.1M).

Despicable Me 4 added $18.6 million, and its worldwide total stands at $886 million. The best markets are China ($54.9M), UK ($53.8M), Mexico ($44.5M), Germany ($35.9M) and France ($30.7M).

Inside Out 2 added $9.1 million. The big news, is that it became the first animated film to cross $1 billion at the overseas box office, with its worldwide total now at $1.648 billion. It's just a few millions away from passing 2019's The Lion King to become the biggest animated film ever. The best markets are Mexico ($102.2M), Brazil ($80M), UK ($72.7M), France ($62.6M) and Korea ($60.8M).

Blink Twice debuted in 73 markets, although it was also soft with just $6.7 million overseas. That takes its worldwide debut to $13.9 million.

You may notice The Crow's insanely low worldwide numbers. So far we don't have actual numbers. They'll be posted as soon as possible.

Did Queen Bee even set up future plot points in much of the same way as Ozzie's?-UNR

https://ift.tt/ALjYrl2

Like I'm a simp for Queen Beelzebub and Loona, and hope to see even more of them together, possibly with Octavia. And yet so far, we've gotten a lot more Stolitz, M&M, and FizzOzzie than we did Honey Bunch, like what Ozzie's set up compared to Queen Bee.

Like I don't want to believe that Queen Bee was filler, like what Viv said while it was delayed for so long. I want to see more of the Honey Bunch, Octavia, and the gluttony ring again. Yes, even if Bee has to get recasted with a new voice actress who hopefully won't sound as wooden and stilted as Ke$ha before her, back when she voiced Bee. Like how we recasted Striker with Edward Bosco instead of Norman Reedus back when we transitioned over to season two.

So is it still possible that we'll get Honey Bunch plus Octavia like with Stolitz, M&M, and FizzOzzie? Possibly in the form of a short, though?

Silent Hills's Scenario?-UNR

https://ift.tt/E8R5UBc

Since its 10th anniversary, I've been combing through videos about PT and thinking about what Silent Hills could have been. I think I have a sense of what the story was going to be based on its place in the series, its social commentary, and what would eventually become Death Stranding. I don’t know if anyone has posted these theories so forgive me if they sound familiar. A lot of this is extrapolation on the creative process too so let me know if you have a different interpretation.

  1. Norman Reedus's character would have been some kind of medium who can live vicariously in other peoples' otherworlds. This is supported by the phone call at the end saying he "has been chosen" (perhaps chosen to have this power) and by how he doesn't appear to be the husband of Lisa (Jarith), yet is subjected to her ire. He possibly does this through the dead children (should sound familiar) or through some other spiritual tether mechanism (hence the baby laughter in that final puzzle), which I will explore in another couple of points.

  2. There would have been an organized operation either by a cult or the evil energy coming out of Silent Hill, or both, to prey on fathers specifically. The support for this is from the body of work showing that Silent Hill preys on worldly sin, and helps explain why it (or its cult) uses the radio program as a conduit. There is said to be an economic crisis and, as multiple theories have delved into, Jarith and Lisa were caught up in this and this led to their sins, spurred on by evil energy. This is also a commentary on radical, particularly right wing media and stochastic terrorism, which fits thematically with indoctrination and zealotry.

  3. More theories connecting points 1 and 2 are from Silent Hill 4 and Death Stranding. Norman Reedus is a repatriate in that second game, and a large part of his special connection to the other side is through Bridge Babies and other innate abilities, the former of which share a similarity to Lisa’s fetus: death of either the mother or the baby during pregnancy. Characters seeing other people’s other worlds aren’t unprecedented in the SH series, with SH 2 and 4 for example. It is not out of the question for Norm to be one of these; and for this to be the original idea that inspired the lore of Death Stranding’s “chosen one” story.

  4. The shared name of Cliff’s wife and Jarith’s wife. This is more evidence of Kojima’s reuse of ideas and a meta-reference to his art evolution. Further, there is a possibility that PT represents the Death Stranding (or the first crossovers between the worlds that lead to it) in Kojima’s body of work, and to him personally. Obviously this isn’t a strict canon and I don’t think Kojima and his team see it that way, it’s more about themes and ideas.

  5. The cult and Norm’s relationship with it; highly speculative… based on his relationship with Bridges in Death Stranding, he may have been enlisted by a government organization to investigate the radio murders and may have had a personal relationship with the government organization, leading to a late-game plot twist involving that relationship; potential meta fiction element alluding to the game world as an otherworld may have been in play.

  6. The cult may have been more organized and deliberate, maybe even technologically advanced, hence the hypnosis and usage of radio to influence people. The 3 circles in the lower right have been speculated to reference the Halo of the Sun and I think that’s accurate. I also wonder if some inspiration for the cult and game setting would have been drawn from other canceled games like SH5 and Broken Covenant.

  7. Game design may have been similar to SH4, where we as Norm go through multiple other worlds to discover the truth of the killings, with Lisa’s demo as a playable vertical slice of the narrative idea. NOT a speculation about the gameplay loop itself, because the development was cut short too early to even speculate on the minute to minute gameplay. I am curious if the whole game would have been first person or if it would have been like SH4.

  8. “Dad was such a drag.” Given these theories, I wonder who it is that says the ending quotes. I initially thought it was the sink fetus, but it seems like Lisa didn’t have multiple children, which makes the reference to “us” confusing. It could be a combined consciousness of all the dead children by the fathers’ hands. “I’m bringing my toys with me,” could refer to other traumas and their representative monsters we would encounter.

  9. “I could only walk…The only me is me. Are you sure the only you is you?” In a meta sense this is interesting given how much walking is in Death Stranding. It may also allude to both of Norm’s characters. However with Silent Hills as a self contained project, I wonder if Norm would’ve had multiple copies of himself in other otherworlds, each of which there is only ONE of. Perhaps this would play into how the story progresses; its twist as reality falls apart and the duplicitous motives of our government employer become clear much like in Death Stranding. Meanwhile our character can only walk on. The bag and other things like it that were never realized may represent the tether between the character and each otherworld; death in that world inflicted by the restless spirit’s method of revenge, which for Lisa is snapping the neck then cutting open the stomach: our character’s guts in the bag being the conduit to that world. The exact way this would work to give Norm access to an otherworld is unknown and any speculation on my part doesn’t help make sense of it.

Anyway these are just my noisy thoughts about a special interest of mine to ease my anxiety as law school approaches. Hopefully my ramblings help you appreciate PT and even Death Stranding more. Shoutout to all who did videos about this masterpiece or otherwise archived it. I wish I could have played it myself but I’m happy to contribute based on the multiple playthroughs I’ve watched and analyses I’ve seen. Keep on keeping on, Silent Hill fans. Let me know your thoughts.

What were every character's ages-UNR

https://ift.tt/E8R5UBc

I'll mostly take the main ones.

  • Rick and Shane: 37 in 2010, born in 1973.

  • Lori: maybe 1 or 2 years younger which makes it about 35.

  • Daryl: the hardest, since Norman Reedus looks younger than his age (he was 41 in 2010). I'd say Daryl is about 36 at the beginning of the show, which makes it 50 in season 11.

  • Carol: I think about 45 in 2010 (Melissa's real age at that time), which makes it 59 in 2024

  • Morgan: 45 in 2010

  • Carl and Sophia: both 12, born in 1998. Carl is about 14.5, 15 when he dies.

  • Dale: 64, he tells T-Dog.

  • Glenn: 24 I think, a little older than Maggie who is 22 in 2010.

  • Beth: 16

  • Herschel: maybe 68-69.

  • T-Dog: looks 30-32, no more.

  • Merle: Michael Rooker looks younger than his age, was 55 in 2010. I think Merle is 46-47.

  • Lydia: 17 I think, in the flashback where they meet Beta she looks 10, it was seven years ago.

  • Alpha: 45 max.

  • Beta: 50.

  • Michonne: 35, no more.

  • Andrea and Amy: 36 and 24.

  • Negan: 50, maybe a little more.

  • Simon: 45

  • Governor: 45 too

  • Tyreese and Sasha: 33 and 28

  • Gabriel: 40-42

  • Abraham, Eugene and Rosita: 46, 38 and 25

How would you describe the game to anyone? 😁-UNR

https://ift.tt/vdtDWeZ

My friends at work saw my desktop background of the game; some of them recognized Norman Reedus as "the guy from the Walking Dead." But they all asked, What is this game about?  Actually, my answer to them was, I can't describe it; you need to live the experience and you will know. 😁

Secret Fun Facts about Death Stranding-UNR

https://ift.tt/vdtDWeZ

There are so many little things that make it known this game was made with love. So much attention to detail, it really inspires me.

Let’s get started:

  1. Carrying chiral crystals makes Sam lighter (every 1000 chiral crystals held will reduce Sam’s weight by 1kg)

  2. You can use your strands to tie cargo down on carriers, bikes, trucks etc.

  3. Hand carried cargo will not take damage if you fall (Sam protects it with his body)

  4. As you know, you can throw cargo held in your hands. What you may not know is Sam throws farther with his right hand!

  5. This may already be known, but when entering MULE territory try sending a ping of your own using your odredek at exactly the same moment as the MULE scanner goes off (there is a little leeway with this, I have sent a ping a little bit after and it still worked)

  6. When Sam dies you will enter a place called the seam. Keep an eye out for the souls of other players, touching them will strengthen your connection, allowing you to share more items, facilities etc.

The next one is pretty interesting

  1. MULE’s will completely ignore you if you aren’t carrying any cargo. Due to their disorder, Delivery Dependence Syndrome (lol), they have no interest in you if you have no cargo. MULE’s aren’t savages it seems.

  2. In the Eastern Region, there is a mission with “the Musician” that gets you a harmonica to play when resting outside! Doing so will even calm BB.

  3. The cosplayer is located in the Central Region and her husband is Conan O’Brian, he will give you an otter hat. This may already be widely known but I thought I’d throw it in for those that don’t. Bonus fun fact: outside his shelter you will likely find his “lawn littered with mushrooms from people peeing on his lawn. Not sure why, but it’s pretty funny.

  4. If left sitting long enough in a hot spring, Norman Reedus will start singing in Japanese.

  5. So I had this cutscene of a BT attacking Sam in his private room and apparently it’s a secret cutscene, so if you never encountered I will link my own recording of it. What I didn’t know was that BT was Hideo Kojima himself!

Nightmare video: https://youtu.be/lix9hnbtYeY?si=XJahUYmrmH6MGQf5

  1. HINT FROM Hideo Kojima:

The part in the mountains where you have to go back and forth across the BT zone. Try to walk on the footprints you've made, and you'll see orange handprints where the BTs have found you. You can easily avoid them by walking through them. Give it a try

Thanks for reading!

There’s plenty more hidden fun facts about Death Stranding and I’d love to hear what you guys have! I just started the game last week for the first time and already have 40 hours 😅. I’m in love with this game and I’m taking my sweet time searching every nook and cranny and exploring everything this game has to offer. Thanks for reading, much love 💛

I'm pretty sure not the only one when it comes to Striker's voices.-UNR

https://ift.tt/vdtDWeZ

Am I the only one who hardly can tell a difference between Norman Reedus's voice for striker versus Ed Bosco's voice? Because when I saw Striker again in his second debut at first I thought they used the same voice actor from The Harvest Moon Festival episode until I saw the credits and realize it was Ed Bosco this time and not Norman Reedus that did the voice of Striker. So what I'm getting that though is that Ed damn good job at Striker's voice that I thought it was Norman still doing the voice.

How celebrity likeness is damaging to video game immersion.-UNR

https://ift.tt/vdtDWeZ

So with technology advancing, we've seen several instances of games getting famous actors to not only voice their characters, but be the visual likeness for the character as well. Examples include Death Stranding, Cyberpunk, Star Wars Jesus Survivior, etc.

Help finding red headed Scottish YouTuber-UNR

https://ift.tt/1LtKwNp

Does anyone remember a red headed Scottish beauty/lifestyle youtuber called Georgia/Georgie? She was quite alternative, loved Norman Reedus and done a Tokyo blog. Her channel wasn't huge as far as I can remember, it was maybe mid to late 2010's I watched her.

She popped into my head a while ago and I'd love to find her channel, or other socials!

Floating 1997-UNR

https://ift.tt/1LtKwNp

Does anyone else have a high quality version of the film 'Floating' from 1997 starring Norman Reedus? I've been binging films and it's a shame that his first film is so tricky to find, seemly every films site I've been on to look for it doesn't have it, most popping up with 404 errors. There are decent pictures from the film on Google and there is a low quality (like absolute blasted with pixels) version on it on YouTube. I currently have the LQ version saved on my PC. Lemme know if anyone has a good copy or knows a safe site that does! Much appreciated.

Another reason to replace Ke$ha as Queen Beelzebub's voice actor, outside of just her lack of availability-UNR

https://ift.tt/xTALQiw

It's because when Ke$ha voice acts as Queen Beelzebub, rather than sing as her, she sounds incredibly wooden and stilted. Like it's obvious that Ke$ha never had to voice act in her entire life, because she's a singer, and not a voice actress. So in a way, I wouldn't really be surprised if they can hire a superior voice actress to Ke$ha to voice Bee from here on out, outside of just Ke$ha still going on her independent tours, alone, producing and singing music celebrating her newly acquired freedom from her former record label, and therefore not being available anymore. Much like Norman Reedus not being available to voice Striker anymore because of his work on The Walking Dead, so Edward Bosco took his place from here on out.

Does anyone else agree with me, though?

Okay, personally, Deadpool & Wolverine made me realize, older men can still be hot. Originally, I thought that after men turned 50, they became un-attractive.
