TWD Rewrite (Season 1)-UNR

https://ift.tt/ZW1dgo8

Hey all. I recently made a post saying that I wanted to begin my own little rewrite series of TWD because I feel that the show gets clunkyat points or there’s certain things I would change to make the show more enjoyable for MYSELF. What I mean by this is revert deaths that I don’t think should have happened, like Carl, Beth or Tyreese (to name a few) while also changing where some characters died, like making some characters die later than they did in the show.

I will be using the show, the comic, and my own imagination as the basis of my content. I am doing this just to post my ideas somewhere where I can get feedback while also hoping to make a story that is enjoyable to other people besides myself :)

1x01: Days Gone Bye

This episode remains the same because it’s a great episode and a perfect pilot, but one thing I would change is Morgan and Duane accompany Rick to Atlanta. I struggled with this decision, mostly because I’m not sure if Morgan’s arc could play out in an enjoyable way if he and Duane went with Rick, but I made the final decision of “fuck it.” Morgan does NOT put down his wife, but instead he makes the decision to just run from the responsibility of having to kill his undead wife. Morgan’s mental state will definitely be ambiguous over the next few episodes as he struggles with the guilt of not being able to put his wife down, but he is fine considering he and Duane are safe.

As for what happens when they get to Atlanta, I would say either Morgan and Duane wait somewhere (a building or the outskirts of the city) for Rick to “scout” or they’re all separated when the horde comes down on them.

1x02: Guts

Episode plays out the same, but when Glenn meets up with Rick he had already saved Morgan and Duane. The jewelry store scene is likely a little less tense, and Andrea would probably lower her gun sooner rather than later due to the presence of a child. I’d also presume there’s a little more tension during Merle’s racist rant on the roof due to the presence of Morgan and Duane.

Morgan offers to go with Rick and Glenn when they cover themselves in guts, but Rick says no because he has his son with him and it’s too dangerous.

1x03: Tell It To The Frogs

The beginning of the episode doesn’t change, but Rick also explains how he met Morgan and Duane in King County and they explain their story to the rest of the group, with the rest of the group, particularly Lori and Jacqui, showing extreme sympathy to Morgan and Duane for the loss of Jenny.

Morgan volunteers to head back to Atlanta to rescue Merle with Rick, Daryl, Glenn, and T-Dog, but he is told to stay at the camp by Rick after Shane brings up the point of needing more bodies to defend the camp.

At the camp, Morgan watches Ed slap Carol. He grows angry, but that anger turns into concern when Shane beats Ed. He is able to defuse the situation, giving Shane a very concerned look before helping Carol take Ed to their tent.

1x04: Vatos

Morgan thanks Andrea and Amy for the fish, and expresses interest in Duane learning how to fish after Carl asks them to teach him how to fish like them.

Morgan is present when the group confronts Jim, and he helps to restrain the frantic man after he tries to attack Shane.

During the attack on the camp, Duane is grabbed by a walker. Jim attacks it in an attempt to save the boy, but is attacked from the side and tackled to the ground. With the help of Morales, he breaks free, but looks shaken up.

1x05: Wildfire

Morgan is helping when burning the bodies of the walkers, and he agrees with Glenn that they should bury their own dead, saying the people they’ve been with deserve that courtesy.

Morgan argues against killing Jim because he saved his son, but he does add in a bit of information regarding being bitten, saying it’s a slow process and you don’t just “get over” it.

Morgan agrees with Rick on going to the CDC, saying that if there is any scientists left, maybe there’s a cure or a way to help Jim. He then goes to sweep the forest with Rick, Shane, and Dale, expressing gratitude to Rick for convincing him to go to Atlanta, saying he hadn’t seen Duane be so happy in a while, and that the friendship of the other children (Carl, Sophia, Morales’ kids) really helped the boy.

Morales and his family don’t leave in this universe. Morales makes the decision that if something like the walker attack can happen in such a large group, he would prefer to help go look for a cure at the CDC and remain with a group that has guns, and he doesn’t even want to know what happened to his family in Birmingham.

the rest of the episode remains the same.

1x06: TS-19

Most of this episode remains the same, just Morgan, Duane, Morales, his wife, and his kids are all present at the CDC.

Compared to the others, Morgan is not nearly as hungover or buzzed from the night prior. While he drank, he chose to drink light and not to become drunk.

Morgan helps Rick and Lori to convince Jenner to allow them to keep going as long as they can, and Morgan says he doesn’t want his son to die without experiencing life, no matter how shitty this new world was.

Jenner sees the fear in the eyes of the group members, especially the children. Taking into account what everyone said, he is swayed.

T-Dog later convinces Jacqui not to commit suicide. He says that Jacqui is his closest friend in the camp, and he doesn’t know what he’d do without her. Touched, Jacqui chooses to escape the CDC with the rest of the group.
