Do big named actors ruin immersion in games?-UNR

I've seen this twice now with Kojima games. Both MGSV and Death Stranding hired big name, B list celebrities to voice their main characters. This is creating an obvious problem that sticks out to the players, and the reason is immediately apparent: Keifer Sutherland and Norman Reedus are expensive. Video games don't have the budget to bring them into the studio to record for days and days on end. Therefore they end up having to write a script for them to voice that is wildly truncated relative to their central role in a 20 hour long game. The result is an awkward, mute main character that stares silently at virtually every secondary character they come into contact with, while these NPCs are often having one of the most important, emotional, expository moments of their lives. The main character dialogue ends up being limited to thinly dispersed cut scenes and the occasional fixed expression reacting to something in gameplay, like Sam telling himself "Come on, Sam. Almost there," while hiking up a hill.

Wouldn't it be a better game experience to hire a solid voice actor, someone who doesn't cost a million dollars a day, so you can have them fill out all of the optional side-quests with natural sounding replies? Is the coolness factor of "Hey! Awesome! I'm totally playing as that guy from The Walking Dead!" really worth the awkwardness of his sparse dialogue? Every time he stands there silently staring at a character who is spouting his life story it immediately makes me picture Norman Reedus zipping through the recording booth in a day and hopping on a plane to do more TV shoots. It just takes me right out of the game.

You all know the main thing, so now let's delve into the important details.

1. Masahiro Ito retweets PS5 event. Ito has no relationship with Sony as far as we know. No new games which he works on were announced there. He is working on something, we know that much, and he is hoping it doesn't get canceled. That begs the question: Why would he retweet it? He know exactly what he is doing and I don't believe he would play such a cruel joke on the SH community.
2. Kojima has apparently been in the talks about a Silent Hills revival, but then those rumors went silent. We know that he himself is working on something, but we don't know anything more than it will be a horror game most likely. Now, I believe this is Silent Hills, because first off, Norman Reedus said he was in the talks with Kojima about some things. Secondly, Kojima tweeting that pyramid and silent tweet was no coincidence. He knew exactly what he was doing and was probably trying to throw the fans off, because they knew too much. He loves surprises and has been extremely silent since his last tweet, so I assume there's something there, which brings me to the next point.
3. The PS5 event. I imagine squeezing in two or more horror games there and having RE8 overlap with Silent Hill would be a problem. Now, if Sony was to announce not one, but TWO new Silent Hill games in August, you can imagine what that would do to boost their console sales. Again, announcing Silent Hill at the same time as other big games would overshadow them. I strongly believe Kojima will just emerge out of nowhere and bring Silent Hills to the table, at the same time when the new Silent Hill developed by Japan Studio get unveiled. Now, I don't know if anyone tried reaching out to Sony, but asking someone there about these rumors would be a good idea.
4. DbD Silent Hill DLC. A lot of people seem to believe this is all the smoke we've seen, but I believe there's too much smoke around Ito and Kojima for it to be just that. I think Konami may be gauging the audience to see how interested they still are in SH. It would be great to find out of the dbd team reached out to Konami about rights, or if Konami reached out to them instead.
5. Dusk Golem, who has predicted every detail about RE8 with surgical precision says that a new Silent Hill started development in early 2019. and he claims that this is 100% true without a doubt, based on his sources.

If we don't get to see a new Silent Hill in the August event, then I believe it's either still very early in development, or it doesn't exist. I don't see a better time to announce it than before the PS5 launches, but again, none of what we've heard so far is concrete.

Realistically speaking, what ship do you think could become canon? And why?

My text is not spoiler free! Open it if you're fine reading about information from season 9-10x15.

This is a spoiler sentence!. He compliments her and even learns sign language so he can communicate more and better with her and I noticed how often he smiled when he's with Connie. Daryl looks people deep in the eyes in general but he often stares at Connie for too long when she isn't looking. Angela Kong and Norman said Daryl needs someone he can trust and respect, she has to know what she wants and he'd be awkward around that person and that really fits perfectly. His gestures were so cute and goofy when he tried to comfort her and make her laugh. After Daryl signed "family" Connie signed "You and I. Family" back. He smiled again but this time it felt forced and even disappointed. After he left Connie looked kinda sad too. Maybe because he thinks she friendzoned him? And that could explain why he said "It's not like that. Not at all " when Carol asked Daryl if something's going on between them. Daryl doesn't lie, he's very honest. But he also pushes people away emotionally. He is broken and has been through so much trauma. He lost so many people and his past was abusive too. Maybe he just cut his interest and his, maybe, little crush off immediately after that so he can't get hurt again because he thinks Connie doesn't like him back, so yes, for him it's not like that anymore. Caryl gave him a double acorn and said they're good luck. When he was home he looked at it and he was happy. But in the exact same scene he also looked at Carol and smiled when he was waiting for her food. Or when Connie left with Dog after saying goodbye he still gazed at her and snapped out if it after he realized Carol and the others are in front of him. When Daryl realized Connie is still in the cave he immediately tried to save her. He cried and then told the others to go home and that there's another way to get in. His voice sounded so soft and broken, he really cares about Connie; he went alone to try his best to save her and almost died because of this. But what about Carol? I used to ship these two a few years ago. Carol and Daryl are best friends and obviously have a very strong bond. They would die for each other, they've been through so much and they share many beautiful moments who don't feel completely platomic. But then on the other hand I don't think they have a mother-son dynamic but she definitely kinda has the mom-friend vibe sometimes if you get me, even Norman says he tried to perform the emotional hug scene like a kid running to his mother and it shouldn't be romantic as far as I know. Daryl calls her his best friend but to be fair, they also called Connie and Daryl best friends. And best friends can still develop feelings, however, I feel like Carol has real feelings for him after I saw that she literally dreamed about Daryl as her husband besides the fact she often tried to flirt with him. And when Negan called Carol his girlfriend Daryl didn't say anything. No come back. No "She is not my girlfriend.". Nothing. Melissa doesn't think they are romantically interested, which is weird after that one dream, and she was even surprised that he didn't say anything. After what happened because of Carol's actions Daryl's trust is definitely broken but he doesn't hate her and never will. But I am genuinely confused?? They writers really love to confuse us, I guess. I don't know what will happen. Connie could escape with Magna but she lost Connie in the herd. She's still alive and I hope they will reunite. But now I want to know your thoughts on that!!)

Ok, since I'm a fucking dumbass and actually responded to this person, I had the displeasure and realizing how stupidly blind Boruto fans are.

Ok, currently in the manga, Sasuke's hair looks like greasy unwashed hair (at least to me) and that apparently other people believe this too....

...that is until I get a response from the op. His excuse was "it's an artwork 😊". To me, that isn't an argument that's just a random piece of information that doesn't actually provide any information. Yes the manga has artwork, yes it's a different art style, however me being an individual who knows what greasy hair looks like, I am fully allowed to state the opinion that Sasuke looks greasy right? According to this person, I don't have the rights to do so.

So anyway, I respond to them that I understand that it's artwork but it still looks like unwashed hair.... Their response is to take a screen cap of my artwork and says that "so is this". Straight up this is going to be a completely separate post after this one but one of the things I find to be extremely threatening is taking a screen cap of someone's content without context and then posting it like as if you're handing out receipts. The thing is, my argument was that this is a multimillion-dollar business that hires specialist and editors to probably provide critiques and advice to the head artist of design in the manga industry, I have the rights to say that this was a terrible decision, apparently I can't criticize that because I draw art. So basically he's trying to scarecrow the argument by saying that because I draw it means I shouldn't criticize anyone.

as I said, this is a multimillion dollar business that relies on experts and people who are in charge of design, I for one am a dumbass who does fan art for a hobby, those two have nothing in common.

and apparently his last excuse was that nobody should criticize anyone.

I am pretty damn certain that he didn't draw the manga cap so obviously he has no rights to say anything in support while at the same time the only argument he has been proposing is an argument that has nothing to do with his evidence. So I'm going to assume and go to the immediate conclusions that he's a serious fan of Boruto thus I'm not allowed to criticize anything.

Tldr: random fan criticizes Sasuke's currently "Norman Reedus" look, boruto fan not only tells them "Don't criticize artwork" but also screencaps of a previous post that has nothing to do with the argument and still adds nothing.

Became lucid during a dream in which I noticed an oncoming tornado and....-UNR

It was grey outside like it is outside my window right now and of course raining so I had to do a double take and look out my window because my brain was like wtf is happening?! I have two cats who are my babies in real life and during my dream my only concern was first to get my pets to safety two cats and a dog and secondly get myself and everyone else to safety. We were in a building of a medium size I’d say it was about 30-40 people and I was the first one to notice the tornado and what was horrifying was that I noticed it at a much smaller size originally at a great distance and as I was observing it it kept swelling in size and the bigger it got the darker it got outside also. So the funny part of the story is that about 5 minutes before it hit our building a few of the guys were like “I need to take a quick smoke break” (in my mind I was like what are you freakin crazy?!) and right after they said that the main front door swung open and it was Norman Reedus from The Walking Dead and we looked at eachother and I said “Daryl you made it!”. A few minutes after that the tornado hit and I felt everything and I was extremely scared of course as the wind gusted violently and threw us all about, no one died though and while in my still in the vortex with everyone else, I woke up. That was my experience.

If you go to fan conventions, chances are you are very excited about meeting your favorite stars.

The actors have two motivations for being there: Money and ego!

What about money?

Well, they get paid a lot to be there. There are appearance fees. There are photo fees. Some actors allow you to take selfies with them for a fee, while others force you to pay for a photo with a professional photographer. There are also autograph fees.

It adds up. A popular star like Norman Reedus from The Walking Dead might take home $500,000 in a single convention weekend from appearance and photo op fees!

What about ego?

Well, it gives actors a chance to bolster their fan base. If they are past their prime, it’s a way to relive their glory days with fans who remember them. For a fee, of course.

However, not all actors are fan friendly.

Our first story is about money.

This is about an esteemed actor who starred in some of your favorite movies in the 1970s. You could probably name our actor in five notes.

He was doing a fan convention in February 2020 in a major US city.

I was taking a selfie with a friend of mine, when a woman started yelling at me. “You! COME HERE!” I walked over and she said said, “Did you just take a picture of my husband?”

I looked over to see who her husband was. He was that actor, [redacted]. He kept his head down. He looked very small and very subservient.

She was yelling, “Were you trying to take a photo with my husband in the background? Selfies aren’t allowed! You have to pay!”

This actor did not allow selfies. However, there was no need for the wife to bite the poor fan’s head off, as the fan wanted neither.

I told her, “Look, I didn’t even know your husband was in the photo, so don’t yell at me. And if I did want to pay for a photo of a celebrity, it would be for a better celebrity than your husband!”

Ouch.

Our second story is about ego.

Same Esteemed Actor. Different fan. Different convention.

The fan brought a poster with them from a comedic movie Esteemed Actor did with a very famous funny actor back in the 1990s.

The fan had already gotten Funny Actor to sign the poster years before, so they were excited about getting Esteemed Actor’s signature on the same poster.

How did that go?

Well, when Esteemed Actor unrolled the poster and saw Funny Actor’s signature on it, he grabbed a Sharpie.

Then he scribbled out Funny Actor’s autograph… signed his own name… and handed it back to the fan!

Now that’s what we call a close encounter of the obnoxious kind!

The two men only did one movie together, but it turns out that they did not get along during filming. This was just Esteemed Actor’s petty way of disassociating himself from Funny Actor.

Anyone else like Blade II more than the first one?-UNR

Was kind of surprised to see them slam the 2nd one, but I think a lot of people have the sequels conflated in their heads. I just rewatched both this weekend and realized I definitely prefer it.

• All the stuff with the Reapers and the vampire squad Blade works with to hunt them just feels much more cohesive than the drama with Frost and the Council Of Vampire Cucks.
• 4 additional years of CGI technology advancement and a director in Del Toro who both brings so much of his own visual flair and is great at combining practical stuff with it makes all the difference. There's like a handful of shots where it's clearly just 2 animated characters throwing eachother around and it took me out of it a bit, but they're few and far between.
• The amount of double crosses might be too much for some people but all the one-upsmanship with Blade & Ron Perlman / Whistler & Stoned Norman Reedus completely worked for me.
• Donnie fucking Yen is in this and he clearly either had a part in the fight choreography or brought some Hong Kong people over with him, because all the hand-to-hand stuff is on a complete other level in this one.

Give me a good reason to continue playing Death Stranding-UNR

I started Death stranding a few days ago. And boy, is it tedious. I used to think the "tedious" complaints were overblown prior to playing this game, because people said the same thing about RDR2, and i loved that game. But this is just extremely boring. And i say this as a massive Kojima fan. I loved MGS and i love self indulgent, long, wacky Kojima cutscenes.

And when it comes to gameplay, i am a forgiving sort, if the story is amazing. But DS's gameplay is so unforgivably boring that i dont think, even a great story will convince me to continue. Also, the constant exposition is extremely irritating. I get that its Kojima, but still, he has shown he can do subtle, in Silent Hill and the like.

And i am also a sucker for good score. One of the best things about RDR2 was the score. The gameplay was mediocre "Rockstar 3rd person" gameplay, but missions such as the Braithwaite Manor mission had such beautifully made score that i did not really mind the otherwise bland gameplay. I was told DS had an even better score, but it seems to kick in like every 3 hrs or so. The rest of the time i am walking around to complete dead silence and Norman's grunts.

In RDR2, the animations were said to be over long and took too much time. But I really did not mind those because they were so well done. In DS, the animations are silly, wonky and cartoonish. The combat barely exists, the core "mechanic" which is walking again, looks dumb as shit, with Norman Reedus carrying a Jenga set on his back.

And why are there so many dumb mechanics? The game could have used a lot less systems and a loit less shittyily designed screens to browse through.

Does the game get better? Will i be rewarded for slogging through post apolyptic America with a skyscraper on my back? I am currently in the second half of chapter 2.

Sorry for the long rant. I went into this game with a lot of expectations.
