"A Playground of Possibilities"-UNR

https://ift.tt/eA8V8J

Kojima just retweeted this article quoting Norman who said after playing that DS is "A Playground of Possibilities", a few quotes from Norman and Kojima respectively state “It’s a game that can go in any direction and do all of these different things, there’s a 360 of possibilities,”

“You can move freely in the game — that means you can go anywhere you want in the game — so then what happens to my story? Sometimes I leave them to do what they want but they can’t proceed in the story. If they want to know more about the story, they have to go this way or that then. I do want people to feel they are making the decision.”

This coupled with Kojima saying the game is open world is really reevaluating my opinion of the game. Idk if any of you guys read the old 4chan leak where the guy said that you could get various weapons from different historical era's but this is making me think that might be accurate. Their characterization suggests to me that there are some kind of creative elements in this game either building or customizing stuff or using a variety of different tools to complete a task. Maybe procedurally generated elements.

I also wonder about traversal mechanics since we've seen this massive emphasis on walking these inhospitable landscapes but if its an open world game clearly there is going to be vehicles or some form of fast travel.

I was initially imagining a game more like The Last of Us but their descriptions sound more like GTA tbh.

Honestly the Tribeca talk might not have shown gameplay but there's some significant nuggets in there
