Evangelion's Impact on Death Stranding?-UNR
Ignoring the pun in the title, I've come to notice a lot of similarities and/or potential shout-outs to EVA in what we've been shown of Death Stranding so far as well as the connections to Archilect. Quick shout-out to and a thank you to RetroHellspawn for the new sub and for inspiring me. Love your videos, man.
[Archilect.]
Let's start off with this. While Archilect was dismissed as being a promotional stunt separate from DS and the Ruse (mostly by those in the Death Stranding community as a whole), several pictures and gifs from Evangelion, the manga, and End of Eva were posted by the A.I. (also Archilect is still pretty suspicious and I don't believe that it's over) Archilect was noted as posting parts from media Kojima was a fan of, but Evangelion isn't something I think he's ever publicly commented on or mentioned being a fan of. Weird.
Sorry for not linking to them in this post, but they are up there for you to look at. I'm a bit lazy.
[Similarities in characters.]
Sam Bridges has been described by Norman Reedus as someone with a phobia of being touched - he's afraid of people touching him, and I'm willing to believe this extends to people getting to know him. He's afraid of being getting close to him. His journey is a lonely one.
Sound familiar? Shinji Ikari, Eva's protagonist, is described as timid, shy, and afraid of opening his heart to others and getting closer to people who open their hearts. Hedgehog's Dilemma.
Sam is described as an Everyman, much like how Shinji isn't special compared to Rei, Asuka, Kaworu, etc. He's special to Gendo, but he doesn't have anything amazing or interesting. He's an insert for the audience but is still his own person. He's the everyman in that regard, a normal guy. We are him, in a sense. Or rather, the Otaku audience Anno was aiming at.
"They won't be playing as you, they'll be you." And didn't Reedus claim Sam would be transcending gender in a way - Shinji was designed to look soft and feminine.
Confident redhead who turns out to be a puppet for the masterminds of scenario? Sounds Familiar. It's worth noting that Asuka is NERV/SEELE's puppet - a literal NPC of sorts?
Semi human morally grey antagonist who acts as a friend and enemy, and has supernatural powers? Mads and the Golden Masked Man definitely get me thinking of Kaworu. Doesn't help Kaoru and Mads both have grey hair and Mads' character has some connection to the Ludens.
[Touch.]
Touch is symbolic of opening up to others in Evangelion. We have the lyrics, "Once more, the touch you long for".
And in End of Eva's infamous ending we have this: touch. Asuka and Shinji finally opening up to each other, and Shinji overcomes his fear in one beautiful moment.
Given the similarities between Sam's phobia and Shinji's fear, I'm keen to believe that the Hedgehog's Dilemma will be a topic of discussion in Death Stranding.
[The Apocalypse.]
Okay, this one is kinda too obvious to be overlooked. An apocalypse that wipes out most of the population and leaves the remnants to fight over resources while multiple groups scramble to create a solution (TRIDENT, NERV, SEELE) and pollutes the water and destroys the environment and the Earth's axis? Second Impact. The second explosion?
And a following apocalypse that annihilates the entire population, leaves the environment in an even worse state, turns humanity into a single unit of souls (primordial red soup), and leaves behind only a select few? Familiar, right. The third explosion? Third Impact. Is Death Stranding Kojima's post Third Impact fanfiction?
And that's not mentioning the Rebuild's Third Impact and the interrupted Third Impact in the second movie. And the possibility of a Fourth Impact mentioned in the third movie.
The Death Stranding event feels very similar to the Impact. Keep in mind that the Impact was engineered by SEELE - and I don't think the Death Stranding happened on accident. Kojima did recently tweet about Spider-Verse being similar to Death Stranding. Did someone in Death Stranding break a super collider on purpose?
[Oedipal Themes..?]
I don't know for sure if this is the case, but I'm willing to believe that the identity of Sam's wife, daughter/child (?) and mother (?) is definitely being obscured for a reason. Eva also has it's share of Oedipal material. Rei, the Evangelion itself, etc.
[Mecha]
Let's not lie, Kojima clearly loves his giant robots. Metal Gear? In MGSV, Sally was piloted by a Third Child (Mantis). So Evangelion has influenced his work to a degree. It would be a shock to not see a giant robot in DS.
But the Kojipro mascot definitely made me think of Shinji's plugsuit and oddly reminded me of Unit 01. Also Shinji's plugsuit being white and blue, Sam also wearing blue and white, yadda yadda.
[Conclusion]
Evangelion is a big influence on Kojima and you should definitely watch it before you play Death Stranding. Thoughts? Anything I missed?
Hopes for Season 10-UNR
So since season 7 for me personally TWD hadnt been at the level I expect from a show that used to be my favourite. I enhoyed moments but overall it seemed more like a burden to watch the show sometimes. Season 9 has been good and ive enjoyed it overall. However after the last episode I am fully back invested in this show, I am optimistic that this trend will continue into the next episode with what has been said by Norman Reedus. So in saying that these are my hopes for Season 10.
- Return of Maggie and Rick. I feel like since RIcks departure from the show there has been a lack of characters that you are rooting for. Obviously you are rooting for the group but as individuals ive been rooting for Daryl and Carol. I have not been rooting for Michonne because of how she feels about Alexandria helping the other communities. This obviously changed in the 2 last episodes but my argument stands. With the return of Maggie and Rick you would immediately bring back 2 characters you would immediately root for. Rick can have his arm cut off like in the comics, he has clearly been through stuff since he was evaced out in the 6ish years since then. The return of these 2 might also bring hope to the communities which is clearly needed right now for them. Obviously tales have been told about the hero Rick as Ezekeiel mentioned him in his speech at the opening of the fair. I don't know anyone who wants this movie with Rick so just bring him back. I know Andy Lincoln has said he left to be with his family and i believe that but hes doing this movie so just cancel it.
- DO NOT HOLD BACK. The pike scene proved they can be ballsy and nail it, so just don't take the safe route.
- Make us care again.
These are just my own thoughts let me know what you think could be done.

What's the deal with zombies on The Walking Dead talking?-UNR
I stopped watching after the 5th season so I was extremely confused when I was watching Jimmy Fallon interview Norman Reedus and they showed a clip from Season 9 Episode 15 that had a zombie with a beard and long hair talk. Thought: "Sam Porter Bridges" is not his name, nor the actual character.-UNR
In the trailer we're seeing a character modeled after Norman Reedus but when "Sam" meets a female figure, who says "I'll see you around, Sam Porter Bridges" -- it's almost like it's a dub or hiding something else -- leading me to believe that;
A) 'Sam' isn't the protagonist
B) 'Sam Porter Bridges' is perhaps some other line that's been swapped as a way to confuse us in the trailer

We are slowly but surely getting to the time where we get more info on DS. I think State of Play episode 3 or 4 is when we will get some info on DS, nothing till then, thats for sure! Atleast the Hideo Kojima and Norman Reedus talk is an hour long, so we can expect new details, if not footage. Just this last stretch guys, we are almost there!

Norman Reedus has been an absolute machine this season-UNR
He’s been appearing in nearly every single episode and really stepped up after taking over the main role from Andrew Lincoln.
I personally feel like his character work and acting have improved greatly and I’m excited to see where his character goes
Just a general appreciation to Norman because of his genuine love for the show and desire to see it succeed

I must admit the following is a little bit far fetched but see for yourselves.
Every main MGS Game since MGS1 was released in Japan on a Thursday (in german: Donnerstag), only TPP and Survive (not a main game) were released one day prior on Wednesday (in german: Mittwoch). In Europe every game except MGS1 and TPP, which were released on monday and Tuesday, were released on Friday or Thursday. Again the end of the week. Only NA sticks to the middle of the week.
Release Days (Language: German)
As we all should know Hideo likes to give us cryptic teases via social media and this could be a bigger one.
Out of ALL possible timecodes it was 05:17. The 17th of May is a Friday the normal release day for games in Europe and close to Japans releases. Games nowadays often release towards the weekend, so that the customers can enjoy them during their free time.
Keeping in mind that Hideo and Norman will be interviewed !60! minutes long by no other then Geoff Keighley at Tribeca Film Festival at the end off April, it could be there that they will announce the release or kick off the marketing for Death Stranding.
The event is set to take place Thursday, April 25 at 6 PM ET at the BMCC Tribeca Performing Arts Center in New York, NY.

Upsides to hypervigilance-UNR
I've read many posts here expressing shame and embarrassment about how some of us jump/startle so easily. I used to be filled with shame myself whenever it happened and it happened a lot. It still does, but I no longer feel shame. (Lots of therapy was required to get me here!) It's just how I'm wired due to childhood abuse and neglect and I've made peace with it. Not only have I made peace with it, I've noticed upsides that make it a bit of a superpower.
The one upside I always go back to is the time I was nearly mugged. It's a long story, but the gist is that I was aware these two people were in my area (one in front and one behind) when I was completely blotto drunk and because I was aware of them I was able to escape. The one in front had a gun and followed us for half a block or so, but I kept crossing the street and tra-la-la got away. (I no longer drink, but a normal drunk person would never have noticed those dudes.)
The second is really very cool and can only be appreciated in a major city where lots of filming is done- Vancouver, NYC, LA, or my hometown Atlanta. My superpower? I see famous people. Everywhere. My husband and friends never notice, but they're plain as day to me. Stephen Moyer was a big thrill, but I've seen tons of others like Andrew Lincoln, Robert Downey, Jr., Norman Reedus. I hear them, too. Who is that voice? Oh, that's Jasmine Guy from A Different World sitting at the table next to us. That voice and headshape are familiar- oh, it's Adrian Belew (only famous if you're a middle-aged music nerd, but still.) It's fun.
I just wanted to share this different perspective because it's so easy to beat ourselves up about something that was inflicted upon us and we can't control. No more shame! I'm not broken because I jump at every surprise. Hypervigilance is my superpower!
