The intense amount of hate for Utopia and modern Björk in general.-UNR

So this is basically going to be an analysis (more of a rant tbh) of the immense amounts of hate for Björk I've seen on her Facebook page. This post will go through a few different phrases that I see a lot in her hate comments.

  1. "I want the old Björk back"

This is one I see a lot. It's more common with people in their 30s and above who were fans of The Sugarcubes as well as Debut, Post, and Homogenic. The ignorance and audacity of these people is pretty sickening, and nonetheless, disrespectful. These people do not seem to grasp the concept of musical evolution. That's what Björk's career is all about: evolution and expression. Also, why would you want to listen to the same thing over and over again? The fact that Björk covers so many genres and subcategories is what makes her interesting and exciting. If you want the old Björk, then go into your little bubble and listen to Debut and Post for the rest of your life.

  1. "Arca ruined this music video"

Okay, this one probably bothers me the most and is one I've seen a lot. I am so ashamed of the people who are heartless enough to post this. This also brings some questions into consideration, like why weren't people mad when Anohni was in a music video? All the different people in The Triumph of a Heart? Norman Reedus in Violently Happy? It irritates me that people would disrespect one of Björk's closest friends and co-producer. He made pretty much half the album. It's only fair that he has some sort of visual representation in her work.

Anyway that's all for now. I was expecting more than this to come out of this post, but I can make a followup post. Anyway, feel free to share your thoughts.

PS

These comments reminded me why I don't use Facebook anymore.
