Sam is a clon of Norman Reedus and he is the rope!-UNR
We have seen in Death Stranding trailers that Sam has Norman Reedus's tattoos, but why?
My theory is that Sam is actually a digital clone of Norman Reedus who serves as an avatar for us to enter the universe of death stranding and help them out. Let me explain it.
"We are here for you" from Asylums for the feelings.
There is a theory in science that states that our reality may actually be a computer simulation of a more advanced civilization. We can also say the contrary; we are an advanced civilization which can create a computer simulation which is chiral to our reality: the Death Stranding Universe.
So I believe Kojima productions created this chiral universe which reflects our reality with one purpose: To let humanity experience this universe and to create connections between us to help the people in this universe who are fighting the death stranding.
So in order to enter this digital universe we have to do it digitally with our PS4, and taking control of an avatar created with a scan of Norman Reedus which has no memory. The handcuffs in the game represent our connection to this avatar.
But how the gameplay will connect players around the world?
Well, in this universe there is a big mystery... the Death Stranding, and this menace is hunting all the beings from this universe so the purpose is for us to find out how this death stranding started and how to stop it.
Humans of the chiral universe are losing very fast against this menace because they are powerless against them, but what about Sam? An Avatar who is not from this world and can simple respawns whenever he dies?
Imagine this universe has physic laws similar to ours and let’s consider the theory of the multiverse which states that it exists a universe for each possibility or decision taken.
Considering this, when we connect to our PS4 we take control of Sam and experience one of those universes depending on our decisions, this way every single player would have a very different experience and gather different information.
But then in order to solve the mystery we need to gather the information from all players, we need to share it, to make connections between my chiral universe and your chiral universe.
Maybe we can load into this world bare naked and start getting resources, weapons, information, which we can recover every time we die while in that purgatory state (Spawn loading). That is all the boxes Sam is carrying. So it is like a survival game, but not survival of the individual (Sam), survival or preservation of the clues and tools we have gathered to help this universe against the Death Stranding Menace.
The universe of death stranding was created to connect us, with a story, with a mystery, with a purpose.
It is a story in which we will all participate and be part of it.

Just had an IDEA. TPP is the VR mission for the character we will play as in Death Stranding.-UNR
This is why TPP has so many unexplained things in it. Tech that shouldnt be around yet. Sally being far too advanced for the time period. Enemy soldiers teleporting into the levels when called as back up. Solid Snake had to Train in VR. Raiden Trained in VR before being able to start up MGS2. It would make sense that in the future and Special Ops soldier would have to take on a VR simulation of the greatest Soldier before he could be approved to start such an important mission. In Metal Gear Solid 2 Raiden has to go through VR training and has to hit a high enough score before he is able to acually get approved to do a live mission. What mission did he have to complete in VR before he could infiltrate the Big Shell? He had to complete a VR Mission of Shadow Moses. So far we have seen that DS is a lot like TPP in the sense that it is an open world and doesnt have a lot of stuff everywhere. It looks like it has some bases scattered around the map just like TPP did. I am not saying that your TPP score has anything to do with unlocking more to the game. Proper Disarment is the only thing that will unlock anything more. But I belive that TPP is a VR training program that will tie in to DS. It will be found out that Norman Reedus was in VR training during TPP in order for him to be able to take on his next mission. Deliving packages? Maybe this is just a cover that Norman has to assume to be able to infiltrate his objective. He has to go undercover to get to the source that is causing the death stranding. That ghosts we see in DS look like they could just be tech we are not familiar with. The strandings are just like the stranded mother base soldiers but with stealth camo. That big monster that is destroyed and puts Norman into another world... that could be a Metal Gear type tech in the year 2040 lets say.

Hand Tattoo?-UNR
Has anyone noticed that Normans Reedus's tattoo on his hand is not present in the first trailer (apologies if this has been discussed before, I've just not seen any discussions around it)?
Obviously it's been confirmed that the fourth trailer is earlier in the game. However it piqued my thoughts on what could have happened for Norman/Sam to; a) lose the tattoo given such a large emphasis on it in the trailer and b) gain the large umbilical scar.
Perhaps this would point to the whole baby growing up to re-spawn theory that has been floating around? Or maybe the trailers depict completely separate time lines for Sam (Norman) - one where he decided to get the tattoo and one where he didn't?
This aside, the mystery around this game has been driving me insane and I'm desperate for answers!

Ariana Grande came into our store today.-UNR
So it was around noon, a four person play, not busy really. My coworker says over the headset "Guys that girl looks just like Ariana Grande" and we all agree. Like, I'm not even really a fan but even I could tell she looked just like her. We're sneaking peeks at her, and she has this look of "I know what you're thinking". She was waiting with a friend near the drink handoff. She didn't order a drink, but her friend did. At first I didn't believe it was her, it had to just be someone who looked a lot like her, but apparently her boyfriend is filming something in the area. Also, after she left, a customer came up and said he thought that was her too. He said he saw her getting into an Escalade in the parking lot, with a freaking chauffeur. Further, one of my coworkers who is a fan said that she was the right height. All in all, it was pretty exciting. Because we weren't sure at first, and also we were working, we didn't get any pictures or speak to her though. Regardless, still exciting. Definitely the wealthiest + most famous person I have ever been in the immediate presence of.
Any of you guys have any experiences with famous people in your store?
Do you think that looking at dubs as inferior version of voices, just because it isn't original, is narrow minded?-UNR
Not that long ago, I saw on a YouTube video with Yuko Miyamura and Tiffany Grant, who both voice famous Asuka from Evangelion franchise, draw that same character, and where Grant smiles like crazy.
Nothing else special about that video, but it did make think that Grant, despite not being Asuka's original voice actress, really loves character she's dubbing, considering she also cosplayed as Asuka, and has tons of Evangelion merchandise home, and in way, just like Miyamura, made her own.
It kinda reminds of early 2000s, when I lived in Croatia, for a few years Pokemon was the biggest thing ever, and everyone was familiar with Ash, Misty, and Brock, and Pikachu, and even Jessie, James, and Meowth were beloved, despite being villains.
We had english dub version dubbed once again in Croatian language, but it's incredible how actors were able to make characters their own, even though, when I compare it now, Croatian and Japanese couldn't be more different.
When she talked, Misty sounded like she grew up somewhere in my homeland, and not like voice was just forced on her.
And that's another thing, for some reason, those dub names, like Misty, or professor Oak, or Pokemon names such as Bulbasaur, or Arcanine, they sounded much more familiar, acceptable, and recognizable than original names Kasumi, Yukinari Okido, Fushigidane, or Windie, and it's not like we weren't aware that we were watching version with changed names.
It is weird, considering how personally, for years now, I do prefer to watch something with original voice actors.
Few days ago, I found out that japanese version of upcoming Death Stranding game will have most of seiyu who worked on Metal Gear series, which was, just like DS, created by Hideo Kojima.
In it you hear, for the most part, you hear Kenjiro Tsuda dubbing Sam, who borrows voice and body from Norman Reedus in original version, and Nana Mizuki dubbing character who is in original voiced and motion-captured by Lea Seydoux; Kikuko Inoue, who appeared in number of Kojima's games, is also present, and will provide dub for Lindsay Wagner's character.
And once again, despite it being dubbed version, not to mention characters actually look like Reedus, Seydoux, and Wagner, performance by Tsuda, Mizuki, and Inoue is so professional, that their alternative voices don't seem out of place at all.
It kinda made consider to try both versions, when game is out, if that will be possible, and also reminded me how great it would be to experience japanese versions of previous Kojima's games, cause they are filled with famous seiyu, and judging by YT videos, performances are stellar.
Not that dubbed versions are bad, not at all, and people like David Hayter, Christopher Randolph, or Paul Eiding are already legends for how they portrayed their characters in MG series.
Or over-the-top, bigger than life Cam Clarke as Liquid, who made character his own, just like legendary Banjo Ginga did in original; and Clarke did it by not trying to emulate Ginga, but rather performing in a way like Liquid is supposed to sound like himself (Clarke) from the start.
Thankfully, other MG voice actors in dub version approached their characters in similar way.

Wow, I don't usually write so much, especially not on Reddit; I could have made this much shorter, but whatever...
I guess, what I am wondering is, do you believe, in this current time we live, dub voice actors are just as professional, as original ones, and can perform just as good (or better?), making characters sound just as fine, instead of ruining them?
Too much "just as"...

Eye contact and the 4th wall-UNR
I listened to Albert Chessas EXCELLENT deep dive analysis of trailer 4 today. He had a really interesting theory about how we may end up playing as Norman Reedus in an alternate reality within the game and Sam basically finding out he is nothing more than a video game character.
This would be totally 4th wall breaking and it got me thinking about another element I’ve seen a lot of in the trailers: the eye contact from the characters directly to the camera/player.
Pretty much every character we have seen so far has looked directly at the player, why do you think this is? Does it relate to us being Ludens? Will there be a clever gameplay mechanic that takes advantage of this?
I did have a (crazy) thought that Kojima would transfer some of the voice recognition stuff he did with PT, to include this is in some form within Death Stranding I.e. you could talk directly to a character and they would follow a command and respond in real time.
Any other thoughts guys?

Death Stranding... Metal Gear Spiritual...bastard cousin?-UNR
So Ive been watching some fan videos out there of the usual conspracy theorist garbage. But I have to admit, that there are some things that stand out about the trailers and some of the theories I heard.
If you've not played MGS 3 be aware that there are potential spoilers ahead.
Specifically there seems to be a connection to the Cobra Unit - the Precursor to FOX, which later became the precursor to Foxhound, etc. etc.
The Sorrow - was a character who's spirit you encountered during the story of MGS 3. He was the Boss's lover (The Joy) and had died prior to the events in Operation Snake Eater and Operation Virtuous Mission. Some interesting elements about this character, was his ability as an extrordinary medium during the WW2 era, which was the reason that he was utilized on the Cobra Unit. He was even said to be so powerful, that he could even control dead soldiers, among other things.
Now, not only does Mads Mikkelsen's character bare a striking resemblance to certain aspects of the Sorrow (a bleeding eye, for example) he also is seen in the first trailer, in tactical gear, leading a squad of skeleton soldiers dressed in WW2 military attire and armed with weapons in that era. (All except for him of course). There seems to be some importance here. We know form the trailer that Mads' character, has some sort of strong link with the dead, he is even able to control them, but more specifically, WW2 armed sentries? The parallels seem to be quite striking.
Now... the Joy. They were lovers. They even had a child together, who we all know now as the famous (or infamous) Revolver Ocelot. The child in the tank in the trailers also appears to have a link with Mad's character who we see in one of the trailers appearing above the wrecked utility vehicle where we see Sam Porter Bridges (Norman Reedus) along with two fellow burial team members get attacked by those... spirit things. We can draw the link between this character being the same in Mads' trailer, because of the shhhhhhh gesture he does with his finger, that matches Mad's character in the earlier TGS trailer where we see him in the sewers with the skeleton soldiers. The child was not in the tank before this moment, and then all of the sudden, we are able to see that somehow, the child is able to sense these creatures. (maybe, they are actually dead spirits.)
Now this part might be a stretch --- kind of makes me wonder if the baby is linked to Ocelot somehow. Would be interesting if that 'medium' link and genetics he shares with his father is somehow what allows the child to see these things. Again, this is a stretch!
So this baby clearly has something important about it. Its obviously very central to the story. We also know it is somehow linked to Mads character. So the next question is... where is the Joy in all this if any of this is true? At the end of the E3 trailer, we see a woman who turns around who says, "Still don't know who I am yet?" and when we see her, there is a striking resemblance to the Boss, like a younger version of her.
So... if we consider, that the MGS universe has never been grounded in reality... there have been instances of alien mind control (referenced in MGS2 taking over the Government (the patriots, or LaLiLuLeLo) there was also mention that the first Mercury mission was something that Joy participated in (possibly linked to Ludens somehow, and important to note there is a ludens charm on the baby tank.)
It kind of brings up even more questions. Is the world we seeing a post apocalyptic one? Is it a different world entirely? Is it something far more supernatural? And is there some spiritual links to the MGS Universe? And what is with this undead army, and Mads character, who seems not quite benevolent, nor malicious... but mysteriously neutral. A "Gray" fox if you will.
Now we all know that Konami and Kojima parted ways. If Kojima were to incorporate anything, it could only be in concept. Chances are that if he intentionally used these stories (which was the MGS game he always wanted to make, about the Cobra Unit and the Boss) he would have to do so without referencing any of the original characters by name, anything that could concretely make it Metal Gear. Some people believe the break up was a ruse... I feel like that is entirely impossible given that this kind of ruse greatly affects the economy of big corporations like Konami.

Why did so many people obsess over Daryl's character in the first place?-UNR
I stopped watching this show after about Season 5 because I couldn't take the constant plot armour and the messy writing. I consistently remember Daryl in particular having a mass fan-base of rabid teenage girls that would defend him at all costs.
I was extremely confused about this, as Daryl was always one of the least compelling characters in the show in my opinion. I liked him when he had his brother, as it was cool to see the family dynamic and I will admit Daryl's past was interesting to delve into. But now, he seems like just a grunting side character who is constantly squinting.
I still check up to see the breaking news about this show, like Rick dying, so I looked up a few scenes of the latest seasons on YouTube and by god is Daryl boring in every single one I watched. He does the same thing; kill someone, kill a walker, yell out Ricks name, or stand around and do nothing. Norman Reedus has always been an above average actor but I always felt like he was wasting his potential with a character as boring as Daryl's.
Can someone please explain what makes him so likeable, or am I harping on things that everyone agrees on? Like I said, I haven't been around the TWD community in forever.

This is a hella long post so I apologize in advance. I don't mind if you don't read it. I just need to get this out of my head. It's something of a twice-yearly ritual...an exorcism, if you will.
I don't post here too often because I've largely made peace with my relationship (or lack thereof) with my mother. It's really only when she tries to re-insert herself in my life that I reach out for advice or even just anyone who feels that feel, since everyone I know IRL has no fucking concept what narcs are like - or at least they haven't realized it yet.
The last time I heard from my mother was last year around this time, when she wanted me to bother my youngest brother on his birthday. Something about "needing his help", probably car repairs (free, natch) or just a straight-up cash handout. I was not about to put him through that, after everything he's already been through, so I told her via FB message, "I don't think there's anything any of us can do for you anymore," and that was that. (FB messenger is the only way she ever tries to communicate, on the rare occasions she does. I don't get why she wouldn't call or text but I'm honestly glad she doesn't.)
She'd been living in her truck in the Walmart parking lot for about 3, maybe 4 years at this point? I lost track...but I'd be reminded of her existence every time I had to shop there. There's her vehicle, parked at the back of the lot, sunshade in the windshield. I never knew if she was just sitting in the cabin, or lying in the covered bed of the truck, or what...and of course the human part of me, the soft heart of me, tortured me with images of her sick, dying, freezing to death in the winter. I hate what she did to my siblings, my father, and I, but I'm still human, and I still miss the moments of "normal mom" I managed to get out of her. I kept it together and never let myself be weak enough to try to talk to her again, though. I knew what that would get me, ultimately.
Sometime last winter, the truck disappeared. Relief flooded me; I felt slightly more at peace, imagining that she'd found another mark online to con into letting her stay with them, or maybe she'd just ripped someone off for a couple hundred bucks and driven down south, where there's not much snow in the winter - anything I could imagine to cling to the hope that she'd left my city and left my life. I was so wrong.
This nosy old bitch at "my" gas station, the one right by my house and the one I've been going to for 15 years, had to mention my mother to me that winter. Apparently they have a friend in common and said friend had told Nosy that my mother was in the hospital for something, she almost died. Nosy didn't know why exactly, but still felt compelled to drop that kind of info on me. I'd also told her in the past, please don't talk to me about my mother, you have no idea who that woman really is and if you did, you wouldn't be so fucking concerned about her, but she just had to let me know about this incident. After telling me this latest news, I told her that if she ever mentioned her to me again, I'd stop coming to the station and file a complaint against her to corporate. That's had her shut up about it ever since. With time, I put two and two together and came to the conclusion that while she was in the hospital, she must have either lost the vehicle to impound for it being "abandoned", or she left town once she got out, because I haven't seen the truck since. I still look for it out of habit when I'm there, but once I verify she's not there I feel reassured.
So on to today. I get a FB messenger request from her - under her real name. Not the childish pseudonym she's been rocking since I was in high school. Her profile pic is some anime girl, which I can't even comprehend; we're talking about a 60+ year old, white, morbidly obese, racist, homeless alcoholic woman IRL. The fact that she's made herself a new profile in and of itself pisses me off, for starters; her life is gone, her children have abandoned her for their own mental health, her husband divorced her years ago because of her bullshit, but here she is, still happily tweeting and facebooking it up with her shitty homemade images of Micheal Meyers with sexy quotes on them, or memorial images made for her pet ferrets (which she stole from the pet store, knowing full well they'd be living in a vehicle with her), or some other stupid fangirl bullshit about Norman Reedus or what the fuck ever she's obsessing about lately. I open the request because I cannot control my curiosity and it's some jpg'ed to shit image she probably stole from someone else's blog that says,
"You are my child. I worry if you are tired and how your day has been. I pray that you are happy and surrounded by friends. A part of me still needs to hear these things from you. You may be busy but a simple 'hello I'm fine' definitely will do. You are an adult and have told me so, but the parent in me will never completely let you go. You will always be my baby in my mind, and sometimes I need to hear, 'hello, I'm doing fine.'"
SINCE FUCKING WHEN? Since the half-hearted birthday message she sent me over a year ago, just before trying to get me to shake down my younger bro? I don't get it - I don't understand why she thinks this is going to get me to crumble. This fake-ass, half-ass attempt at reconnecting? A shitty "needs moar jpg" image is what I'm worth?
I know what it is. She needs something. AGAIN. I've been sitting here for the last couple of hours trying to figure out what to send back, if anything. "I'm doing fine. Goodbye." or "I've been dealing with a major medical issue for the last two months, not that you'd know or care." or "How much do you need this time, Mom?" or "What have you done with your life to make me want to come back into it?"
If she would drop all the shit - the fucked up fb and twitter pages, the obsessions with fictional characters and dead pets, the macabre fascination with death, with all the childish garbage that makes up her identity - and wrote me a sincere letter, as my fucking mother, I might have a little more tolerance for this shit. If she told me she's been living in a shelter, getting counseling for her mental issues and alcoholism, if she could show me she's been working a job, any kind of job at all, if she could show me some AA chips or prove to me somehow that she's been doing something, anything, with her life, other than stewing in her own rancid juices. If she could somehow make me feel anything besides disgust and revulsion for her, I might be willing to give her the most limited contact in the world. I miss my mother. I miss having a mother, period. But there's no fucking way I'm letting this demon back through my door.
I'm sorry for the rant, if you've made it this far. I hope I didn't take up too much of your time. Thank you for reading it, though.
