Potential Fan Update Requests/Ideas for the inevitable DS2 Director's Cut.-UNR

Preface : These are features that i wish were in the game and/or could be added as a upgrade package later down the line. These features are also made with KJP's previous titles in mind and also the cost of game development being high hence asset reuse and different ways to play the same game are also prioritized. I will try my hardest to get these requests atleast heard by someone on the KJP team so that they can be added ( as a very large Kojima nerd).

Different playable characters : No character can lift as heavy as Sam and to not break voice lines the playable characters could be referred to as S.A.M ( Strand Ally Men Or Societal Altruistic Mercenaries)

1.Fragile: Someone who does not need to hold breath and can avoid BT's easily.

  1. Tomorrow : Her strands can lift cargo on to the sky so she cannot carry on her back and is very easy to fall down. ( This effect is achieved by the half life Gravity gloves so implementation is easy)

    3.Rainy : Constant repairing of cargo but one hand is occupied with the umbrella and cannot lift as much. Ignores the phenomena of timefall or may constantly repair objects near her due to corefall.

  2. Niel : Cannot deliver. Only goes out on combat missions. His bike as a trike skin. ( Ride with norman reedus bike equivalent in DS1 )

    1. Red Samurai : Has the highest speed and is meant to be aesthetic. ( Similar to Gray Fox skin unlock in all previous MGS titles and the raiden skin in MGSV with his Ninja Run)

    Revised Game modes :

    SSS : Social Strand System as a "Clan". A separate network that is joined by selected people. Only the structures of the people in the SSS will show up in other people in their own SSS. - A very hard mode where structures cost 10X their original cost as to emphasize that closing yourself off from anonymous connection is hard and should be avoided. Gameplay reason is to provide a more harder challenge of traversal. KJP has made this feature in MGSV ( Allies of FOB's).

COOP : All the other NPC porters wander around in a pair of two , why can sam not do that? Sam also helps himself during boss fights hence COOP is a core missing feaature from the game. Also invokes the themes of the cooperative nature of the game and anonymous cooperation too if the system allowed for joining with random people without disruption . ( KJP has done this effectively in MGS PW and were also orignally going to implement this idea in MGSV. The COOP feature originates from Monster Hunter and its popularity back in the MGS PW days. In 2025 one of the more popular games is also a Monster Hunter game and elden ring Nightrein both with a massive COOP element so its just an obvious choice to include )

Infinite Deliveries : Randomized pickup and drop off locations for each type of delivery. Emphasizes new routes from the pre-existing map and does not take much development time. Randomized weather patterns and BT locations. Mules out on patrol as well. Can act as a post game method to make players explore the world.

Crash land Event : A chiral storm lost all of your equipment so now complete a delivery to restore the chiral servers. ( MGSV Crashland event).

Blackout Event : An entire regions chiral network goes down due to some event where Sam has to travel the area to restore the network once again.( Structures that are present are temporarily vanished in this event, This can make the usage of the same open world but in different ways. Also cities get cluttered with structures very fasst after unlocking them and an offline city only exists once so Blackouts create new opportunities to play the game)

Raid Event : Mules try to raid and come in waves to steal packages off of a Delivery Station. Your job is to defend the base. ( Invasion system from MGSV).

Only one time interaction : After 5 Star-ing a certain area a new 5 star system is implemented where it is temporary and the less you visit the delivery station the easier it starts to deplete. This does not change anything just adds a new end game goal. ( Simulates theme of the game to not just be a single act but multiple kind acts compounded over years of connection )

Gameplay Improvements:

Harsher Climate : Current weather system is very weak in implementation, Harder modes to have much more stricter weather conditions that cannot be "solved" and must be either traversed around or dealt with.

Different unique types of cargo : More types of cargo that are to be managed differently. "Needs to suffer impact every x minutes", "needs to be sumberged to be cooled down".

Experimentation with the shape of cargo : With the homage to the medium of video games with the collab with pacman in DS2.An inventory system like tetris blocks can be experimented since currently all cargo is just rectangles including bodies. ( eg.Resident evil 4 inventory system ).

Accessibility :

Messages/Sings implemented as voice lines from the game itself. ( From software messaging system). (eg. "Mama mia" voice line sign from niel on a mushroom).

Cut scene viewer in the corpus or media player. ( Like demo theater in MGS3 and MGS PW).

The ring terminal does not take up the full screen and traversal is possible with it open as a sub menu. ( eg. Dead Space Diegetic UI and/or Audio tape system from MGSV, more appropriate in pacing since Sam does not reply back to the holograms presented.)

FPS toggle mode instead of hold.

"Action Button" fast forwards all dialogue. ( MGS3 and MGS4 codec calls).

Codecs are stored in corpus. ( Utilizes storage space of the game and reuses assets and is an accessibility feature all in one).

Gun sights to be FPS mode or TPS mode.

Miscellaneous :

Not showering for a while degrades your cargo container due to the odor.

When Sam's bladder is full , he tries to walk faster but trips up more and cannot be prevented by holding triggers.

Prone ability for Sam but cannot prone with cargo on his back and requires BB POD to be detached which makes BB cry so an instant alert mode for more movement options. Fair tradeoff.

Invisible by Duran Duran as a Musical Track. For the memes.

Player Customization options enhanced:

Menu color customization : UI changes that are of different shades Does not add anything extra, just a feature for player aesthetic expression. KJP has previously done this in MGS4.

Badges Showcase : Badges to be as stickers in armoury , Patches/ Patterns in the armoury or guns.etc.

Selectable themes : When in Cargo Management menu or Fabrication menu or for an entire delivery station , themes can be set by the player. ( MGSV Helicopter landing music feature)

Impossible ideas:

A very strict but cozy to implement rock climbing system like a more advanced Breath Of The Wild but sadly that is not possible. It could be a new island entirely, We all know islands can be explore as a concept in death stranding.

TLDR: Update concepts that are easy and good to implement and considering mechanics like these have already been implemented. Let me know for more.
