Because the common theme is that it took some people several attempts to get into the game.
I admit it's a weird game because it's a very Kojima style game without the espionage. But man once you get past the first 3 chapters, the mechanic really starts to click and the story starts to open up.
If you want a slow paced game but also want to use your brain bit for strategy for travel, a bit of suspense, a bit of shooting, and a weird yet beautiful story with some science, this is really good. I mean really good. It's open world but it's not a free roam without consequence. Every journey you make it keeps on opening up and giving you new gears and structures to help you expand your journey.

If you're the type of person that likes using maps for route planning, this is awesome.
I am a bit biased because I've been a Kojima fan since mgs1 and I'm in my 30s too. This game isn't that fun if you have add or adhd. But if you are OCD, this is an awesome game.
ALSO, if you have gamepass for playststion I believe the dc edition is available for free.
Every chapter of the game it keeps opening up to more weird, quirky shit.
Also, the terrain is beautiful. Except for BTs.
