Dealing with paranoid delusional psychosis-UNR

Hello,

I have a friend that I've been texting for a few months now. She has paranoid delusions which causes her to believe that she is the psychic granddaughter of Marilyn Monroe, and that El Chapo conspired with celebrities like Norman Reedus (Walking Dead), Jennifer Lopez, Demi Lovato, Tom Brady, and others to kidnap and torture her before stealing her eggs and making a baby with them.

She's recently started a job at a shoe store and it causes her to be stressed, which makes the delusions worse. Tonight, she kind of snapped at me because I couldn't give her any answers about any of it.

I want to help her but I don't have the slightest clue how other than to try to understand how she feels. I've read that you're not supposed to acknowledge the delusions but the emotional response to them. This makes me sound like a broken record anytime she talks about it.

Anyway, I don't think I have it in me to keep doing this. I care about her but it's getting to me. What should I do?

Should I tell her that she may have a psychosis, even though it will definitely upset her?

Should I try to get her a better therapist (which I don't think is doing a great job BTW)?

Should I just walk away?

Besides Andy Clutterbuck Lincoln, who would you vote as the top actors on the show and why?

They can be dead or alive and can even be a cameo. This is about the acting not whether the character did anything useful or was written well or hurt YOUR favorite character...just the ability of the actor. The acting is what really carries a show.

Some characters could have been a great actor but were written so terribly we'll never know based on that performance alone, but there have been plenty of great actors who shine through their awful writing throughout the years. An example of this would be Alpha Wolf, a solid actor behind a terribly developed character.

My vote for top actors who've really carried the show (in no particular order)

Jon Bernthal- Shane- I really dont need to sell this to you. His jam packed film career post TWD says it all. He could be considered the best actor to ever inhabit a character on The Walking Dead. Not only that Shane is almost the most important character or was I should say. His actions are what really changed the group or well started a chain reaction of events that would continually change the group. It helps when there is such a strong actor behind the role.

Michael Cudlitz- Abe- arguably the most well written character on the show besides Shane, even if alot of it was unoriginal on the show's part. Most of it is verbatim from the comics. Either way he always said so much with a very colorful spin on it. Brilliant lines. Cudlitz played the shit out of Abe and the show would be weaker without his caliber of acting. Everyone who played off Cudlitz was stronger in that moment. Especially Lincoln.

Norman Reedus- Daryl- His performance kind of speaks for itself but goddamn he can act with the right writing and direction. His lines in season 2 and this new one are some of the best a character in this show has ever spoken. He grunted the majority of seasons but still for the most part when he spoke a line it was pretty powerful. Luckily acting isnt just speaking, Reedus was able to emote a good amount through his eyes and gestures. He did what he could while his character suffered. He's also a great on-screen cryer. Its believable and digs at me when he does. Thumbs up Reedus.

Melissa McBride- Carol- Another amazing on screen cry. She may have had an exorbitant amount of bullshit along the way of her character's growth but I cant recall her ever delivering a bad line. A not so meaningful line sure, but she isnt the writer and has poured her heart out as Carol for a while now.

Lauren Cohan- Maggie- Used to be my favorite character in the early days. It was more on the writer's end that my interest in Maggie shifted, however she never stopped being talented. Her expressions and lines are always delivered perfectly and she too is a great cry. Back when Season 7 was pissing everyone off at least there was never a dull moment in HER acting. I want her back and hope we dont have to wait too long. Her quick performance in season 9 was soooooo good.

Jeffrey Dean Morgan- Neeeegan- I almost hesitated because some could say this is a copout but fuck it he's a very very talented actor and his performance was always Grade A even if his development was skewered. His lines were always verbatim from the comic and that made him a weaker character but goddamn JDM saved the day on that. He has one of the most chaotically controlled approach to a character. I'm starting to see the bigger picture now with Season 9 (please no huge comic spoilers). His acting finally has the level of writing that compliments it rather than combats it.

Some quick honorable mentions:

Austin Amelio as Dwight: one of the most realistic characters ever on the show because of his acting. Say what you will about the characters flaws but Amelio is a fantastic actor.

Andrew J. West as Gareth: probably the best villain in the show because it served multiple purposes: extending the bridge to Rick's murder arc that the return of The Governor and Joe started, etc... This actor made these purposes come to life with how good he is. His looks alone were so illustrative.

Josh McDermitt as Eugene: his character pissed me off for a long time but hey its because McDermitt does his job right.

Same with Sarah Wayne Callies as Lori: she was a horrible character but the actress was the reason we hated her. She embodied that part and sold it beautifully.

Michael Rooker as Merle: another solid actor who drove the story forward in every way possible and never had a dull moment either. Hes a phenominal actor and loved him ever since I saw Mallrats.

I know there is more but I've said too much I wanna hear what you all think.

The best theory so far to me is...

when Sam is caught by those entities he is rapidly aged until death due to being exposed to them, however the baby inside him is aged until adulthood, in other words Sam "keeps coming" back because the baby is a clone of him, an insurance policy that ages appropriately back to sams age at the time of his death.

Norman reedus is 50 years old, so if life instantly ages 50 years forward then he would more than likely die upon reaching 100 years and immediately be back at age 50 after the baby grows 50 years, this would also explain why he doesn't remember Lindsey's character.

It's a fun and interesting detail since he experienced that throughout the seasons, especially since Daryl himself is more of a anti-hero type of character due to his nature:

•The Claimers wanted his crossbow and the vest.

•Terminus actually took his crossbow but Carol got it back.

•Dwight basically took all his stuff but that was more of a unnecessary comic book fan service, since Daryl already had his signature items before comic Dwight was introduced and that Dwight never had a bike in the comics or an iconic vest, but at least it helped their rivalry.

•But I think that Beta taking Daryl's knives during a fair fight it's perfect, unlike Dwight who just stole Daryl's stuff. I saw in a interview that NR wanted to change Daryl's fighting style for a long time so they pleased both sides with this one giving a nice remix on the knives origins. Ryan Hurst actually teased Norman Reedus about the knives on social media a while back lol.

Unreal P.T. and what it Could Mean for the Future of VR-UNR

TL:DR; Radius Gordello, a one-man dev team, enabled an awesome VR experience in Unreal P.T. in just two releases without owning a VR headset; I hope devs are listening and will enable VR support in more projects like this.

Let me start by saying I love both horror and video games, so the cancelled Hideo Kojima, Guillermo del Toro Silent Hills project and its now near-mythical short playable tease “P.T.” always seemed like some sort of out of reach holy grail for me, attainable only if I was willing to shell out some serious cash on EBay for a P.T. Enabled PlayStation. Thanks to Radius Gordello’s excellent recreation (available for a short time at https://radiusgordello.itch.io/unreal-pt), I have been able to turn that dream into a reality without breaking the bank.

But what is even more exciting to me is what this project shows me is possible for future VR development and expansion of the library. I played through Kojima’s horror masterpiece in a way perhaps he hadn’t envisioned possible: in full VR.

What is astonishing to me is not only that Gordello made all this possible as a one-man dev team, but that he doesn’t even own an HMD.. I don’t mean to be reductive about his work, but I believe that Gordello enabled VR in his project basically as simply as ticking a checkbox in Unreal Engine’s output settings. It’s true he didn’t exactly get it right the first time; there was some fisheye distortion and angling issues that made some people uncomfortable, and an unfortunately placed Norman Reedus character body model led to many unintentional jump scares as people turned around came unexpectedly face-to-face with the Walking Dead Star. But despite that, the experience was playable, and many people played through the game in that state. And then, after only a few days of tweaking based on feedback from players, still not owning a headset, on only his second release, Gordello nailed it. On that second release I was able to play through all of P.T. in glorious VR without incident. I was IN that house, the sense of presence was strong, and it was terrifying.

Now, is Unreal P.T. the perfect VR experience? No. It’s obviously not made for the ground up for VR and doesn’t include inverse kinetics, a VR optimized inventory, and a whole laundry list of other features that make for a top VR experience.. but would it absolutely be my first choice to introduce VR to a horror fan? You bet.

So if a one-man band can enable VR in an experience this good, this quickly, without even owning a headset, I really feel like larger studios really need to consider enabling VR support on their larger projects. I understand that getting VR right requires more effort and thought than checking a box, but I feel that experiences like RE7, Alien Isolation with Mother mod, Unreal P.T. (and the list goes on) prove that even sub-optimal VR support for a great title can provide an incredibly immersive experience, and the more of these we have, the better it is for the industry, and the more people will come to try and fall in love with VR just as the enthusiasts in this sub have. I hope devs are paying attention to Gordello and what this inspiring VR story could mean for the future.

So I'm rereading and watching the Negan arc and in the comics Rick caused Glenn's death, Glenn as well since he wanted to leave Alexandria.

Michonne asked Rick if they should drive during the night but he said it would be better if they would camp out and go to the Hilltop in the morning, that's when they got captured.

Imo in the show was much more interesting. Daryl was the major plot device for the remix that caused the group being split and captured, and also what caused Glenn's death.

That way they took some flaws from Rick (since he already had many), gave to Glenn a pure death and actually developed Daryl big time for the first time in years (Beth's death, his mini arc with Aaron and the rivalry with Dwight brought some development to Daryl as well but not like Glenn's death). Daryl must feel even more guilty since he was very vocal about the Saviors deal in 6.11.

I know that it must have been annoying to see lone wolf Daryl causing that situation but it was good writing, it was the first time when AMC showed that they are not afraid of hurting Daryl's reputation. It was also good since Rick being not that connected to Glenn's death brought more weigh on Carl's and the decision to keep Negan alive.

I hate that Norman Reedus and Daryl had a huge backlash after Glenn's death but at the end of the day it was good for the character and the story since it made more drama and new dynamics on the show. Daryl had some solid interactions in season 7 with Negan, Dwight, Carol and Maggie (my favorite). But the Saviors started everything in 6.08/9 and Negan is still the main person to blame.

Norman Reedus must have had lots of it last summer after Collider's wrong news and I'm surprised that Reedus and Cohan are still alive since the great Rick Grimes is gone because of them.

Kirkman and the show's writers are coming up with these ideas and not even them are to blame, since some people are not being mature enough to understand a story.

EDIT: searched a few more old articles and apparently Laurie Holden, Alanna Masterson and Seth Gilliam also recieved messed up threats. If you want a character to die it's cool...but if you want the person behind it to die as well than it's just sick.

Firstly,I think the gameplay is about collecting corpses from the other palyers and revive them in a specific point,this theory is based on the kojima's comments :

" I want people to realize that when they die in the game, that isn't the end."

" Most of your tools in action games are sticks,” Kojima continued. “You punch or you shoot or you kick. The communication is always through these ‘sticks.’ In [Death Stranding], I want people to be connected not through sticks, but through what would be the equivalent of ropes… But of course you will be able to use the sticks too.”

For me there is no way this game can disappoint me or not lead up to my expectations.

Hideo Kojima has to be my favorite game maker right now. I love how weird and surreal his games are and now he can finally make his own game with no restrictions and we have all pretty much seen he's gone full weird. He reminds alot of David Lynch, which is one of my favorite directors.

Guillermo del Toro the Oscar winning director is involved with this game too. I assume he helped design the monsters and helped with directing. I loved all his past movies especially his monster designs. He is also really into all things horror which will definitely fit this game. Pans Labyrinth has to be my favorite movie when I was younger.

The cast is just amazing. Mads Mikkelsen has to be my favorite actor personally and is just amazing in every role he gets. Troy Baker has been great in every video game he's gotten and he seems like a really cool guy. Troy is just somebody you want in your game. Norman Reedus seems like an amazing guy and from what everybody has said he's doing a great job and I know he will no disappoint in his role.

The graphics look amazing. From all the trailers they seem realistic to what we can play and if there is a downgrade it will be minor. The open world seems really cool and beautiful with that waterfall and vast grassy plains. There also seems to be a lot of variation in the scenery with that more orangy part. Open world just looks beautiful.

The gameplay seems really interesting. It seems you're going to be transporting goods across the open world alot. That's perfectly fine and sounds amazing just walking through the world, looking around the scenery, hearing what will probably be an amazing soundtrack, and will be very relaxing. But the gameplay can definitely get intense with those monsters and trying to sneak past them. I can't think of anything scarier than traveling through the world and suddenly you get ambushed.

With all of this stuff combined I really cant think of a way this game can be bad or disappointing to me. I will definitely be preordering it and not looking at any reviews until I beat the game.
