Let us pretend, just for a moment, that Hideo Kojima got so entrusted at Konami and Sony for his relentless work for many years producing nothing but blockbusters one after another that they gave him a pass... on anything he wanted to do.
To do the thing he always wanted to do. Which would be a gift from heaven for creative people. They would give him a large budget of course, but Kojima has proven time and time again that he is able to do the work other people can do for much less.
An example: He still uses legos for pre-production as seen on his twitter account, something he started with when creating Metal Gear Solid on PSX.
I'm a 3D animator. I have spent more time and money on pre-production than finishing the actual projects/products themselves. So I know how important those simple solutions that saves time and money can be, because there's always a deadline and a set budget. If you are working for someone, and they don't like what you've made, it kills you inside to start over from scratch.
So what if they were willing to let him set up a seperate studio as a front, and play along as he faked the slow and painful demise of his career? With Konami playing the villains, either by even creating MGS pachinko machines to prove their commitment, or letting him have his freedom while they repurpose most of their company.
And I know, very unlikely. But what if? Just as a thought experiment. Would Death Stranding make more sense? Would Hideo's fanbase feel betrayed if this was all to promote a completely different game, or yet another sequel in a long line of successful stories, the last of which was deemed "The missing link" to the MGS saga.(Which turned out to be another misdirection).
I was thinking about the P.T demo, when you get the correct ending, Norman Reedus is revealed and the Silent Hill(s) logo appears. What if the last "s" wasn't to reveal another sequel to Silent Hill, like the Alien movies added an "s" to it's sequel to symbolize plurality.
What if the "S" symbolizes a snake, not unlike the original BIG BOSS's scar, which Snake wore in Peace Walker(a fake scar).
We(those of us who are searching for any hint of something) are always eager to reveal our findings, as far-fetched as they may seem. And it's not like as if we've had a lack of incouragement from Kojima himself. And he is the guy who plays this sort game with his fans, and the media.
But what if we are supposed to ignore certain things in order to get the bigger picture? As Silent Hills was revealed to be the actual game on P.T's completion, officially, made by Hideo Kojima and Guillermo del Toro, it seemed like everyone were happy to know this, though Hideo had never created a complete horror game.
We completely ignored the fact that it was hidden from the beginning, and a fake studio had been created in order to deceive the players who were hoping to support a new game studio trying something original for a change in a world of action games and first-person shooters. Even the media were fooled, and some were even possibly complicit in not reporting what they knew.
By ignoring the word "HILL" in "Silent Hills" we get "Silent S". And if the "S" represents a snake we get "Silent Snake".
But indeed, there is no character in the MGS universe called "Silent Snake".
The closest thing to "Silent" would be "Quiet". But she went off into the desert to kill herself because of the strain in her vocal cord that would release a pandemic upon the world if spread(most likely by birds who would eat her body).
Now, I have seen a lot of characters in the MGS universe die, and I have seen several of them return. For any MGS fan to act like all is final when a villain or a good guy beats the dust, even off screen might I add, I don't comprehend those conclusions. There's even an immortal vampire that can run on water, whose forehead I distinctly remember emptying entire clips into.
What did Hideo say after P.T was cancelled? He said he was done with making horror games because he gets frightened easily and gets nightmares. Yeah...
And he explains: "...the most effective way to scare people is to show them something that is "slightly out of the ordinary."
"Slightly off, but at first glance, they don't know what it is about it that is unusual. When you do something like this, it confuses the mind, and that becomes unnerving for the person who sees it," Kojima said, adding that the element of the "unknown" can also be very scary.
Even before this interview, the first trailer for Death Stranding had been revealed. The article even mentioned that. Every single thing about every single trailer we have seen since that first reveal, has been out of the ordinary, confusing to the mind and downright fucking scary.
Death Stranding, if it actually is a real game he is planning to release, fits his own definition of a horror game perfectly.
So that is how you point out a lie.
Here he is what he said to gamespot about Resident Evil's reveal:
"When I saw the reveal of Resident Evil 7, it looked very similar to P.T.. What was your reaction to that trailer?
"I guess there’s some influence there, even in the format of having a demo teaser. I haven’t played it yet but I would like to try it."
And here he is, for some reason, placed in a room with Resident Evil director Shinji Mikami, and Hideo uses the same arguments he used for stopping to make horror games
"I think we're able to make scary things because we're so easily scared. You (Mr. Mikami) should just admit it. All creators are chickens. We see things you can't see and hear things you can't hear. We become hypersensitive."
Here is where Mikami "reveals" that they control the interview, but only if you're paying attention:
"With the hardware specs we have now, it's possible to put a whole lot of information into the background, so creators have a tendency to develop a 'gap-phobia.'" Mikami added. "But if there's too much information, even if the atmosphere is scary, you don't know where to focus on. A single chair sitting in a white room can often be scarier."
Now that would be glossed over easily, if it weren't for the fact for them both sitting in chairs in a large empty white room: https://i.kinja-img.com/gawker-media/image/upload/wd3iy9xw2pb8pfwf6gov.jpg
Minkami was not part of the development of Resident Evil 7, though he previously directed Resident Evil 4, which is regarded one of the best Resident Evil games to date.
I think that this is Hideo's beginning of making suggestions to other Playstation franchises, including Silent Hills and Resident Evil.
But I'm not entirely sure if Hideo actually had anything to do with P.T's or Resident Evil's development other than making suggestions and borrowing the titles(Silent Hill) for his own machavellian publicity stunt.
While we are pointing out white lies: Guillermo del Toro said he was done with video games forever after the cancellation of Silent Hills. And suddenly he pops up in Death Stranding's second trailer, where he has scanned himself to be a character in Hideo's game. That is a little contradictory, right? Considering Hideo and Guillermo are close,(close enough to create a misleading demo together just to have it cancelled) it's not as if Hideo would share his plans with him or anything.
But nobody seems to pay attention.
Back to Resident Evil. Well, if you are like me, and watched the E3 livestream where both Resident Evil 7 and Death Stranding were revealed, you also thought "P.T" to yourself while watching RE7's gameplay trailer. Everything about it said "P.T". But when the title finally revealed itself to be Resident Evil VII, we lost our shit. Everyone lost their shit. We had no idea. How could they have been working on this game to achieve this quality, with not even a single drop leaking into the web? That reaction made us lose track of our thoughts. We lost P.T(Silent Hills), but gained Resident Evil.
And there was a playable Playstation VR DEMO available that same night. Get the f out of here. I refuse to accept that these people made a playable VR demo, available the same night the game was revealed for the first time, after "stealing" P.T's look, feel and gameplay.
P.T was never meant to be. Silent Hills was never meant to be. Silent Hill has no reason to do a first person game. Sony and Hideo are playing us, HARD. And it is magnificient!
Now if you watch the Resident Evil 7 reveal trailer again or the game intro when you start it, and have Hideo Kojima and Death Stranding in mind, you'll start to notice things.
Black goo. Rain. Time passing by very quickly as a dead animal decompose. The reveal at E3 even showed the main character looking at his hands exactly like Sam does in the first Death Stranding trailer on one of the other screens.
And not only that. The direction. The editing. Specifically the text inbetween the scenes. Something Hideo is known for. Something he has done since the reveal of MGS2 at E3 2000, 18 years ago.
If he indeed has anything to do with other games, I think he has made it a principle that he has to put his mark on it. Whether it is symbolically or indirectly. MGS4 has one of the characters send Solid Snake a video recording of herself asking him for help as someone is approaching about to find her. Resident Evil starts off with the main character(the player) receiving a video recording from his wife Mia asking for help. Very similar, but not very original, so I can let that one slide.
Back to Quiet. Quiet left Venom Snake so she could die, just like BIG BOSS's scar turned into a snake and left her body in MGS3 and dissappeared.
When Quiet leaves,(If you think about it) she has become superior to Venom Snake, i.e the perfect soldier. Though she was not an intended consequence of the whole body-double-charade. She is better at combat. Sniping. Espionage. Stealth.
She doesn't talk.(Her words can kill... everyone) She doesn't even breathe.(Breathes through her skin) She doesn't need food or medical treatment.(feeds and heals through photosynthesis, rain, water) She can become invisible at will. She is impossibly fast.
Not one of the Snakes have these abilities. He needed training. He needed equipment. He needs constant assistance. MGS4 makes it painfully clear by replacing his eyepatch with technology, and his genetic mutation that makes him age faster.
I think there might be a possibility that Death Stranding, the entire thing, is an allegory for Quiet becoming "Silent Snake" in what might be the true story about BIG BOSS, which we thought we were getting in MGS V, and not MGS 5.
But I also think that Hideo will release the entire game Death Stranding even if this is true. Maybe even earlier than anticipated. The next reveal might even be a playable demo(I'm not alone to think that).
Okay that's all I got right now. I could go on about Hideo's misdirection about his game reveals, and why it is probably happening now too, but I understand that someone has to read all this.
