As I finished the game, there were many times i felt Norman Reedus had many opportunities to show emotion in the moments he needed to, mainly to do with Lou's death. I get Sam is a quiet person but it was clear in the 2nd game Kojima wanted Sam to be more outspoken but also comically awkward in his interactions. In the first game I let it slide with him mostly being quiet and almost expressionless in his reaction to even the most batshit moments because hes a recluse and the aphenphosmphobia. However in the 2nd game its very well shown Sams growth as a father and as a human but man was he just as deadpan as the first game. Even with Lou's death it looked he was almost accepting of it right off the bat (which wasn't the case in the story of course) and I think its due to the language barrier between Norman and Kojima. it defiantly affected Normans performance--even when Sam cries it just looks like a guy trying to attempt to cry. I can say the opposite for Léa Seydoux, she was more convincing in the mourning for Lou--maybe she didn't need that much direction from kojima. But I still love Sam as a character. I just feel the performance was underdeveloped even if Sam as a character is a quiet person.
