So I've just completed Death Stranding 2 and...just Wow.
It's a lot better than DS1 in pretty much every way. The delivery stuff doesn't feel as tedious as it did in the first one. You can basically drive everywhere, even up the snowy mountains so that makes it easier and less of a hassle. The BTs are still annoying but that makes finding the right path to take on your deliveries more meaningful. They were barely an annoyance the whole game this time. There's definitely more action in it too, it was fun clearing out the enemy bases, it's kinda similar to MGS5 in some ways. I really liked a lot of the references to the Metal Gear Solid series (im an MGS fanboy).
My only critique is that you never really need the PCC or even a ladder to get anywhere. I kinda liked that from the first game, making me feel smart to bring some tools in case I needed them. I haven’t used them once all game.
The new characters are a great addition to the game. Troy Baker steals the show here, this may be his best role yet imo. Norman Reedus was great too. The scenery is just beautiful everywhere you look. The graphics In this game are impressive, damn near like real life. There's more to the story with this one. Tarman was my favourite character for DS2. Those last few hours really were epic. Strap in though because the ending is basically a long ass movie.
Took me 28 hours to complete the game without doing any of the other missions/deliveries. I'd definitely give it a 10/10. Expedition 33 is still my GOTY, I don't think anything will beat it tbh. It's incredible. But DS2 came damn close for me.
To add, some of the cutscenes in this, are some of the most metal shit I’ve ever seen. I really want to know what kind of drugs Kojima is on, because no normal human mind can come with this shit 🤣
