Hi everyone, this is my first post on Reddit, ever. Registered about a year ago, but never used the account, and now I just remembered about it when I wanted to share a theory about the box of oranges in Death Stranding Director's Cut.
So, here is my guess (I was unable to find a similar idea anywhere on the internet so I consider I'll at least be first to post it here).
First, for those unfamiliar with the story about the Director's Cut trailer:
"The video contained nonstop references to Kojima's old Konami series. The trailer opened on Norman Reedus's character Sam Porter Bridges checking out a subterranean facility, with some Metal Gear Solid music playing in the background. Soldiers wandered a grid of cargo, much like the opening of Metal Gear Solid's Shadow Moses stage.
Sam finds a box, dumps out the oranges, and looks like he's going to climb under it as Solid Snake does, but instead flips it and climbs into the top before going fetal.”

It's seems pretty clear that it is some kind of message no to be taken literally. The box may be a reference to Snake from the MGS Series and his improvised camouflage skill, but the oranges? First association with the color "orange" in Hideo's universe are the BBs, but this just doesn't make any sense. So I believe the whole thing is... yeah, just a wordplay/symbol for "Orange Box".
Why? Well... The opposite, or negative colour of orange is... Blue. This takes us straight to the Blue Box Studios, the game studios that is widely considered to be just a cover for Kojima's next big project.
Does it sound crazy? Yeah, maybe. But the sudden Box/Box connection and the Orange/Blue as opposite colors may be too much for a coincidence while talking about such a suspicious topic.
It's also worth noting that this may be one of not that many "Kojima-Kahraman connection proofs" that is coming from Kojima's side, not Kahraman's. While Hasan's posts are considered by some people to be just a very odd manner of riding the hype wave and creating endless Abandoned/Silent Hill pointless mysteries for pure advertisement, the trailer I'm talking about came directly from Kojima.
Considering all the other details (like, Sam turning the box upside-down twice which may mean the "opposite", or Sam sitting in the box instead of covering himself with it like Snake, which may also mean the "opposite"), I believe there may be truth somewhere here.
