So as the title says I’m rewatching the show and man I understand a lot of what people have complained about with this show all this time now.
I really liked Season 1 and 2 they’re really well crafted, feel realistic and make the most of everything used in the sets like for example when Daryl took Merle’s hand and scared Miguelito with it saying he cut it off himself the plot with the CDC, Lori’s cheating and Shane’s obsession with her, the farm and how its hinted at that Hershel knew from the beginning that Sophia was in the barn or the little things how Dale asked Tdog to get his tools back from the roof (thats what he tripped on when he was going to uncuff Merle) everything was brilliant and very well thought out and put together.
But Season 3 and 4 are kind of lacking in the storytelling and character building department, the writing took a mayor shift from realistic conversations to “deep 1 liners” that aren’t realistic and most of the time are frustrating to listen to it feels like they tried making the writing deep but it just comes across as unrealistic, predictable and corny to listen to. Not to mention that every scene that Andrea was in was legit painful to watch (not because of the actor her performance was fine but because of the way the character was written) also they kill off so many characters these 2 seasons who had so much potential to grow just for the sake of shock value that it becomes very predictable and frustrating as well.
Im at the part where Glenn meets with Abraham and while I’ll continue watching since Abraham is like my favorite character in the show I can safely say the show is carried hard by its actors like Norman Reedus, Andrew Lincoln and Danai Gurira if it wasn’t for them and their amazing performances I don’t think the show would’ve lived on as long as it did.
