I have been playing 22 hours now (but had plot elements and twists spoilt although I don't mind usually) , and have some questions that don't really work in a post format, but I think I can sum these up enough to ask.
So I know the liquid is apparently tar, but I'm not the only person who thought it could be meconium, a baby's first poop that's dangerous if done in vitro and is known to be tar like and sticky. It comes from the baby ingesting things before it's born, and since the ocean and amniotic fluid is known to be really really similar, I think it makes sense that it's actually meconium with all of the links to the two that DS has.
Also, I guess that also backs up that BTs don't actually "eat" people as the game says, since if it is "tar" they don't have anything in there (I guess except for the BTs coming out of it to grab ya).
Like I said, meconium in the amniotic fluid can be dangerous because it can be ingested, but afaik there no tar in the Seam which is much more sea like and therefore womb like, and not have distress which would cause it.
Perhaps that's something they didn't want in the release in case it spawned a lot more "wtf?" than they wanted in trying to make the most of the release, especially post PT gaining a sizable audience for Guillermo de Torro and Norman Reedus?
