Seriously, I do NOT get the appeal. For one, his character is the hardest to understand. The grunting thing is something that grew on him, and it’s so annoying. In earlier seasons he spoke clearly, suddenly he’s struggling to form complete sentences and sound out words with more than three syllables.
Regarding his plot purposes, he served close to none. His only character moments were in the first three seasons, after that why is he still alive? He’s just kept around cause he’s mainly a fan service character, it’s season eleven and he’s still roughly the same character from season five. People also talk about how attractive he is, and I don’t see that either. He just looks like he smells, and no offense to Norman Reedus but without the Walking Dead dirt effect and all he still looks unattractive to me.
I’ve seen people call him one of the greatest TV characters; and compared to other characters on television he is far down the ranks in terms of being good, having great plot purposes, development, actor’s performance etc.
