The Walking Dead Rewritten (Season 8)-UNR

https://ift.tt/eA8V8J

Hey guys. Back with another rewrite of The Walking Dead. If you haven’t seen my other ones, just check back on my profile and you’ll find them. Season 8 is the most polarizing season. While I personally enjoyed it, there were some major problems no question. So here is how I would’ve revised it. Season 9 coming soon!

Here are the series regulars:

STARRING:

  • Andrew Lincoln as Rick Grimes
  • Norman Reedus as Daryl Dixon
  • Lauren Cohan as Maggie Rhee
  • Chandler Riggs as Carl Grimes
  • Danai Gurira as Michonne Hawthorne
  • Melissa McBride as Carol Peletier
  • Emily Kinney as Beth Greene
  • Michael Cudlitz as Abraham Ford
  • Lennie James as Morgan Jones
  • Alanna Masterson as Tara Chambler
  • Josh McDermitt as Eugene Porter
  • Christian Serratos as Rosita Espinosa
  • Erik Jensen as Steven Edwards
  • Jeffrey Dean Morgan as Negan

ALSO STARRING:

  • Seth Gilliam as Gabriel Stokes
  • Ross Marquand as Aaron
  • Austin Amelio as Dwight
  • Tom Payne as Jesus
  • Xander Berkeley as Gregory
  • Khary Payton as Ezekiel
  • Steven Ogg as Simon
  • Katelyn Nacon as Enid

801 - Weeks Gone Bye

The season opens with a montage of the communities training for the upcoming war. While the Saviors have yet to strike back in weeks, Rick encourages the communities to take the time to train. Carl and Beth are out scavenging when Carl runs into Siddiq and actually decides to scare him off instead of try to help him. Beth sees this and berates Carl for doing that, but reminds her that he could have been one of the Saviors. During the supply run, we see Carl and Beth struggling to return to Alexandria and in doing so, we see Carl riding on horseback and we get several callbacks to the pilot. Siddiq rescues Carl and Beth the same way Glenn saved Rick and he allows him to come to Alexandria, but remains in the sewers until the war is over.

Meanwhile, at the Sanctuary, we see the meeting between Gregory and Negan, where Negan is furious at Simon for suggesting to kill everyone like he did at Oceanside and the junkyard. The meeting ends with Negan vowing to kill Rick in front of everyone and promises to get them back in line. In Dwight's room, Simon begins to express doubts that Negan's willingness to keep giving Rick's group a chance will be their downfall. Negan and the Saviors meet again the next day when it is interrupted by gunshots outside with Rick and his army outside.

802 - Mercy

This is what the Season 8 premiere was, minus the Siddiq stuff as that was pushed back an episode. The one thing I would change is the fact that nobody in Rick's group makes an attempt to kill Negan when he's out in the open. I would have Negan behind cover or something when this is going on. The episode ends with the shitting pants scene, except instead of Gabriel, it would be Beth.

803 - The Damned

This episode would have clips from The Damned with Rick and Daryl going to secure the guns, but I would cut the return of Morales and I would include Abraham in the mix with Daryl and Rick. Eric dies the same way he does and same as Francine. Edwards joins the battle, furious over Sasha’s death. Also, with the satellite outpost sequence, I wouldn't have them take the entire outpost prisoner. It made zero sense to me. They kill mostly everyone, but Alden surrenders and convinces the surviving 4 Saviors to surrender, with Jared amongst them. The episode ends how the actual third episode ends with Ezekiel’s army being ambushed.

804 - Some Guy

I'd leave this one the same. Excellent episode for Ezekiel.

805 - The Big Scary U

Negan disarms Beth and ties her up inside the trailer. As they are trapped by the herd, Beth continuously threatens Negan, wanting to kill him for what he did to Glenn. However, while bonding, Negan is able to tug at Beth's heartstrings and she develops some sympathy for him. Since Negan is going to be a father, she tries to remind him what kind of person he wants to be for his child. He agrees to let her go and they both escape, but Beth goes the opposite way and manages to escape the Sanctuary, getting as far away from there as possible. The scenes in the Sanctuary play out the same with Simon attempting to control the workers.

At the Hilltop, Gregory returns and pleads with Maggie to give him another chance. Jesus then returns with the 5 prisoners and says they can use them to their advantage. She is desperate to go out there and save Beth and fears she may already be dead. Aaron returns to Hilltop with Gracie and he and Enid head out to Oceanside to recruit them to help.

806 - A Survivor

Eugene is unsure whether to remain loyal to the survivors or to the Saviors. We see alot of clips from Episode 7 with Eugene vs. Dwight, but instead of Daryl and Tara breaking open the Sanctuary, it breaks open on it's own. Everybody fights back against the walkers and they are scot free.

Rick, Daryl and Abraham return to Alexandria with intentions of waiting for sundown to return to the Sanctuary. However, knowing Beth is still out there, Daryl and Tara go out looking for her. They talk while on the way about Dwight and how she wants to kill him when this is all over. In the woods, Beth finds a pregnant survivor named Molly in the woods and we see her try to recruit her to be part of Alexandria. In the process, Beth is bitten on the side off-screen, similar to the Carl and Siddiq scenes. She reunites with Daryl and Tara on the road and they bring them back.

At Oceanside, Aaron and Enid go to recruit them, but in the process, Enid shoots and kills Rachel by accident. This infuriates Natania and Cyndie, who capture them both.

807 - Monsters

Natania and the girls at Oceanside are ready to kill Aaron and Enid for Rachel’s death. Aaron tries to persuade them to join the fight so they can stop living in fear. Cyndie is agreeing with Aaron, but Natania wants to kill them both anyway. The gunshots attracted a giant herd into the area, causing Oceanside to be overrun. Natania brings them both to Hilltop with intentions of using them as leverage. She wants Hilltop as their home in exchange for Aaron and Enid’s lives. Maggie is unwilling to give Natania what she wants and instead gives her another chance to join them in the war against the Saviors. She refuses again. Suddenly, Aaron breaks free and kills Natania. Cyndie and Beatrice surrender while the rest of the Oceanside residents are killed in the ensuing chaos. Maggie throws Cyndie and Beatrice in with Jared, Alden and the two other prisoners.

At Alexandria, Siddiq is brought out from the sewers and introduced to Rick’s group. He helps with the pregnant Molly, who is malnourished. Rick decides it’s time to head to the Sanctuary to force them to surrender. Carl, Daryl, Abraham and Gabriel head out. Rick was reluctant to bring Carl, but he insisted he did. The episode ends with Rick’s group discovering the walkers at the Sanctuary are gone and the Saviors have escaped.

808 - How It’s Gotta Be

The Kingdom and Hilltop scenes remain the same. However at Alexandria, Carl’s scenes are replaced with Beth’s. Eugene also frees Dr. Carson. The episode ends with Beth revealing her bite.

809 - Honor

The episode starts with flash forwards that include Beth at Hilltop with Maggie and Glenn’s baby, who excitedly calls for Aunt Bethie. Rick, Carl, Michonne and Judith come to visit too.

In the present, Beth is saying her goodbyes to everyone in Carl’s place. Molly promises to honor Beth by earning her place in the group along with her baby. Rick, Michonne, Carl and Daryl stay back with Beth while Rosita, Tara and Dwight lead the others to Hilltop. Beth has a heartbreaking goodbye with Judith. Like Carl in the actual episode, the visions at the start are Beth’s visions of the future. Beth kills herself in the end.

The Kingdom story stays the same, except Morgan chooses to spare Gavin.

810 - The Lost and the Plunderers

Rick, Michonne, Carl and Daryl bury Beth and head towards Hilltop, with Daryl destroyed by Beth’s death. On the way to Hilltop, they run into Dr. Carson and help return him to Hilltop. The scenes with the group moving to Hilltop plays out the same. Molly gives birth to her baby while on the road and Siddiq successfully delivers a baby girl who they name after Beth. Maggie learns of Beth’s death and is completely devastated. Gavin is thrown into the pen with Jared and the prisoners, but gives Jared a stone cold greeting.

811 - Dead or Alive Or

In flashbacks, we see how Negan and Simon took the Sanctuary. I always wanted to see this. The original leader of the Sanctuary is a guy named Marshall (played by Benjamin Byron Davis). Negan served as Marshall’s second-in-command. Marshall was a good leader in the sense that he was a good guy and only killed when necessary. However, he was too kind to the other communities. When he encountered a library settlement, Marshall was naive when he believed they could work together until they double crossed him, getting Laura’s dad Franklin killed. Marshall, knowing how strong they are, still wanted them on their side. While Negan wanted to punish them, Marshall didn’t. This led to Negan and Simon orchestrating Marshall’s assassination, along with his loyalists by saying they were devoured on a supply run, but Marshall was gutted by Negan and fed to a horde. They force the library group into submission and it is revealed to be the library from the Season 6 finale.

In the present, Gary and DJ return to the Sanctuary. They reveal they have discovered a new group of survivors hiding out in a school. Negan and Simon butt heads over the whole “people are a resource” rule. Simon leads a group to put them under their boot and confront them. The group’s leader refuses to bow to the Saviors, so Simon slaughters them all like he did to Oceanside. He lies to Negan and says they have them under their boot. The episode ends with Negan giving the speech about the guts trick.

812 - The Key

I honestly love this episode. However, the only thing I would change is that I’d have Daryl fight Negan instead of Rick. Since he would be grieving over Beth’s death and wants to use Negan as an emotional punching bag. The episode ends with Simon giving his “For Negan!” speech.

813 - Do Not Send Us Astray

The attack on Hilltop remains the same. However, Abraham gets stabbed in the stomach while saving Rosita. Rick gets shot by Dwight like in the comics. Tobin still dies and when he turns, he bites Molly on the neck. As the group figures out what happened, Abraham realizes why he is sick. Rick begins to worry about himself. Maggie kills Molly before she turns, making her promise to take care of baby Beth. Also, the prisoners still escape, but I’d change the way it happened. The way it went down with Henry being an idiot was just lame. Gavin and Alden remain though. Jesus also adopts baby Beth.

814 - Still Gotta Mean Something

The Rick and Morgan killing Saviors scene plays out the same. However, I’d switch Negan and Jadis’ scenes out with Abraham’s dying moments. He gets Nicholas’ death from the comics and Rosita stabs him in the head before he turns. Maggie builds up the courage to read Beth’s letter. The episode ends with Abraham’s funeral.

815 - Worth

Instead of Rick reading Carl’s letter, the episode opens with a voiceover from Emily Kinney, from Beth’s letter to Maggie. She encourages her to find some peace with Negan and the Saviors. The rest of the episode plays out the same, except when Daryl and Rosita capture Eugene, he is emotionally impacted by Abraham’s death that he escapes and returns to his outpost to tamper with the bullets. Also, the Oceanside scenes are switched out with Rick and Carl on a supply run, where they talk about how they want things to go back to normal. The episode ends with Carl reading Beth’s letter to Negan, which impacts him, but he still wants to kill everyone.

816 - Wrath

This episode plays out the same, but I would have the fight last longer. Dwight also kills Laura. The season ends with flashbacks of Hershel walking Maggie and Beth on the farm when they were kids.
