It's obvious. The ''final bang'' is Judgement Day.-UNR

Fasten your seatbelts, this is about to get weird...

So, let's get right to it.

The ''final bang'' which Sam (Norman Reedus) mentions is, in my opinion, the Day of Judgment where we as humans are to be judged for our actions against our own world (''earth'') or overall life itself (''all living organisms''). In a theological way this is described as the day we are individually chosen if we belong to Heaven or Hell. All this ties well together as we see Sam (Norman Reedus) waking up from Kojima's ''death'' mechanic as Sam and his fellow crew is on earth trying to ''recover'' some sort of dead body. For what reason I’ve yet to dive into. Tho as the mission fails death (''grim reapers'') arrives for the taking of people into the purgatory. (And with the small detail of their handprints being covered in black oil actually makes up for a metaphorical which refers to black oil being the blood of our earth... just a small note)

Tho back to the scene...

As it seems crucial for them not to be taken it leads the two guys to suicide as they both provide their own death. Tho for one of them it fails and sents Sam (Norman Reedus) to his death. Overall this says a lot about this phase or what we as the player knows ''whats going to happen'' if we where to be taken into this ''dimension'' which I think is the purgatory. And with the talk about purgatory, it goes well together with the overall theme of Judgment Day as we humans are to be chosen either heaven or hell - (In this case it’s most likely hell, why? Well just think about the state of our earth...) All this seen through Kojima's first two trailer where all ''life'' lies dead is a near perfect match. Same with the opening quote of trailer 1:

  • To see a World in a Grain of Sand And a Heaven in a Wild Flower, Hold Infinity in the palm of your hand And Eternity in an hour. - William Blake, Auguries of Innocence (Poem).

Which literally refers to that any living thing whether animal, plant or organism have as much life as we humans have. We as humans aren't worth more or less than a flower. We all share the same fate and amount of importance to our earth. Every living organism provides something for the earth's existence and at the same time provides something for our connection to life itself. Kinda like in Avatar where all things are ‘’connected’’. And in Kojima’s mind, we and earth are as well. Which pitch perfectly goes in sync with the overall theme of all the 3 trailers, where all things are connected together via small ropes which Kojima also refers to a lot in the making of the overall game.

… But in a theoretical way, we humans have already failed to do so. And this can be said in a few words.

Removal of our rainforests is literally murdering our earth. Or war against our own species as we harm each other. Destroying our own planet with nuclear strike. Or just a normal day where we get annoyed and step on a wasp, or even fucking mowing the god damn grass. All this for us isn’t seen in the bigger picture as it really doesn’t have a purpose. But in the bigger picture, it's a sin that one day will be judged as it basically harms against life and planet earth itself. So as the human species and the sins we berry we are now in crisis to be judged in purgatory. This is the lore we are playing in... This is Judgement Day.

Now let’s talk about some minor details starting with the talk of ''dimensions'' where I see Sam (Norman Reedus) as a porter (gatekeeper) who can travel between these dimensions, which in my opinion is the dimensions of heaven or hell and in between. He’s special and mostly immune to whatever happens in the trailer. And moving on to the baby then the invisible beings (''death / grim reapers'') can't see people but can sense life. Whereas the baby which connected to the sensor can sense death. Which shows in the actions of the sensor as it's connected to the baby via the pod.

And on the final note. Norman dies but wakes up in the water. Hint (From water we are born to water we return) - Kojima's own vision of death as confirmed by IGN in their new vid ;)
