As some of you (well actually, most of you) may have heard about the theories surrounding Death Stranding that it is related to Silent Hills or Metal Gear Solid in some way (particularly Silent Hills), and honestly I'm sick and tired of them. Yes there are some things in both DS and SH that are similar, like alternate dimensions, Norman Reedus and Guillermo Del Toro's involvement, babies, umbilical cords, etc. Even Metal Gear Survive has alternate dimensions involved. But just because all these are involved, this doesn't mean that Death Stranding is Silent Hills, or Metal Gear Solid 6.
The one factor that people seem to forget about is Kojima and Konami's bad history. The theory suggests that the whole Kojima vs Konami drama was a ruse and that they are secretly working together behind the scenes, but that is just too insane and legally impossible to do. Yes Kojima has done some crazy ruses in the past, but they've always ended up with positive responses, like The Phantom Pain being MGSV and P.T. being a teaser for Silent Hills. But if it did turn out that DS was SH or MGS, then it wouldn't get a positive response, people would be angry at Kojima for pretending that a game that they were hyped for was cancelled and making Konami look bad. Not to mention the harassment he and his team endured during the development of MGSV. I also feel like this is a case where people still can't accept the fact that Silent Hills is no longer happening so they've convinced themselves that DS is SH. Not to mention, Kojima wants to create something new and not go back to those old IPs (they're owned by Konami now anyway), and so do I. I want to see what Kojima can create from his mind and hopefully make one of the best games ever made and not just be restricted to just one franchise (yes I know he worked on Zone of the Enders and Boktai but not as much as MGS). But if you still want to believe that Death Stranding is Silent Hills or Metal Gear Solid, then go ahead and believe that, just don't be disappointed or angry if it turns out you're wrong.
