Handcuffs and Scars. Reedus and Del Toro. How are they connected?-UNR

Upon seeing Trailer 2 for Death Stranding I noticed something which I hadn't seen anyone talk about.

The scar on Guillermo Del Toro's forehead. I then noticed that GDT had the same handcuffs that Norman Reedus had during trailer 1 so I went back and checked. Sure enough, Reedus had a scar too, but on his abdomen.

Could NR and GDT have been in some kind of military internment camp/prison where they underwent surgery/experimentation? I don't think the scars have anything to do with the babies as only NR's scar has a connection to babies.
