47yo gamer here. Got my first Atari when I was 11 (Commander Keen and and XOR, forever in my memory). Picked up DS2 second hand on a whim a few months ago, as I love Norman Reedus and Troy Baker. Finished it and immediately bought DS2. Here's my rambling thoughts because I don't have any gamer friends to share them with.
Incredible. As an Aussie I particularly loved DS2, especially the kangaroo that randomly jumped on front of my off-roader and died. Very on point.
Music is amazing in both. Made the mistake of only using headphones after completing DS2 and just going round to get 5 stars and upgrade roads. Wish I'd used headphones from the start.
Aside from Sam, Higgs and Dollman are my faves. Can't convince me otherwise.
Story for me was better in DS1. Preferred gameplay in DS2. Except for that weird guitar, wtf was that.
Didn't build any roads unless required in DS1, built and upgraded in DS2 for a different experience. Enjoyed both ways of playing.
Why don't porters move out of my way when I'm hurtling along in my off-roader, why wait until the last minute and jump out of the way?
Kojima is a genius.
