As most of us already know, after the Walking Dead has concluded, there will be a spin-off show focusing on Daryl and Carol after the events of Season 11. This is a smart idea since it keeps both Norman Reedus and Melissa McBride happy and employed, and I’m all for people keeping employed etc... and the more Walking Dead the better.
However, the reason I’m worried about this spinoff is because of how weak the episodes of 10C that have focused on Daryl and Carol have been.
So for Episode 18: An episode that focuses largely on Daryl and what he was up to during the six year time up. All in all it’s not a bad episode. I quite liked Leah and I hope to see more of her, and I thought some of the cinematography was brilliant. But as a Daryl and Carol Episode, it was quite meh. Just a lot of arguing about the same stuff again and again. And let’s be honest nothing really happened. Which is fine, not every episode needs to have action. But slightly worrying.
However, Episode 21 was arguably the weakest episode of the show since the dark days of Season 7 (when Maggie and Sasha were stuck in boring Hilltop). This episode has nothing happening. Yes we see Daryl do stuff, and Carol do something, but nothing happens. Just a big wet fart.
If this is the kind of episodes we’re getting focusing on Daryl and Carol (yes I know it’s covid and more character focused etc... which still should not be a excuse for nothing happening) then I worry for a whole series focused on this. What’s the point of these two characters if all they’re gonna do is argue and bicker, and then make up and do boring shit.
