I would like to start with a thank you to Angela Kang, she was a blessing for his character. It's okay so say that she saved the Daryl character giving him better characteristics and motivations, or at least showing it better. This proves that the problem with him in the last 2/3 years was the writing not the acting, Norman Reedus' acting is always very good but he killed it this season, happy for him.
His part in Rick's departure arc was perfectly handled, his comic adaptations from issues 141 & 146 as well due to his amazing build up with Rick. I'm glad they stayed true to their dynamic as the I don't always agree with you but I will always love you type of thing. His interactions with Aaron and Maggie were amazing too and they debunked his lately characterization, even the invincible hero one since he needed Rick's help to get up from the pit, and that Merle callback...oh boy.
For some reason I love that he mentioned Lori and that Angela Kang didn't leaved his relationships with Carl with what Gimple did in 8.09 showing how much he loves Carl and Rick. Also him always talking about Glenn made perfectly sense since he shared the blame, I even think that him and Glenn were friends at the camp even before Rick showed up.
That was Norman crying for Andy in the last episode leaving their relationship with a last nod from Rick and Daryl broken with a look of despair in his eyes we never saw before.
Glad to have Daryl back.
