Hey guys! I have a quick theory after watching the trailer several times. First of all, gotta say i've been following the game since it was first unveiled back at E3 with the mysterious teaser and I have been reading a lot of theories and insights as to every single detail of the game we know so far.
So, after watching this trailer I think I have an idea of what Death Stranding is about to some extent. Let's begin:
The trailer focuses on the idea of big bang, how explosions have been key in the creation of humanity and life overall in Earth. I belive this is a mislead and what we saw nearly at the end of the trailer wasn't an explosion, but rather an interdimensional hole.
Black Holes and similar subjects have been discussed here in this reddit before, so I believe I will not have to go in-depth so you guys understand me. Thing is, I believe that the big chunk of Earth that we assume was destroyed by the huge stranded creature with an explosion has actually been taken to an another dimension that we see a glimpse of in the trailer. If you notice, the hole is very cleanly cut, there's no fallen rocks to the bottom of the hole, so I believe this chunk was cut and taken to the Dimension #2, which is the underwater section of the trailer. Hints of this is the car we see in Dimesnion #1 floating in the water of Dimension #2, and then when we get back to the same spot where the trailer starts, there's the hole. Another small hint is the small sea larvaes that get into Norman's mouth in D2 and we see in the D1 with the black stuff and climbing invisible strands.
Also, during the trailer, Sam's crew (Sam is the name of Norman Reedus character, THANK GOD WE CAN STOP CALLING HIM NORMAN FETUS) is being attacked by Hideo Kojima and other humanlike creatures covered in the mysterious substance that we still don't know what the hell it is. It seems like this people are manifestations from the D2 and are trying to take people from D1 for some unknown reason.
A small hypothesis I have is that D2 is going to shit and the people from that dimension (or whatever they're) are trying to bring pieces of D1, which is not fucked up and somehow it will help their world but at the same time destroy ours.
